We learned in nursing school yesterday that we're no longer supposed to pull the foot back and ask if it hurts. About 29:15 she starts it...it is more likely to cause the clot to move if there is one, and there is no way to tell that there is.....so ask your instructors if you still do this!!

Sad to say, nurses like this one are few and far between. Most choose nursing just for the paycheck.Nursing managers on the most part do not do their jobs to weed out the ones that do not provide the proper care that patients should get.I see this on a daily basis.I wish all nurses were like this one.Two thumbs up..well done.

On percussion of abdominal area you should hear tympany, not dull sound. Dull sound is heard when there is fluid in peritoneal cavity (ascites) and if any tumor.

Sorry, I beg to differ. The international consense is that we should follow the order : Inspection > Palpation > Percussion (when applicable) > Auscultation This may be arbitrary, but I find it that auscultation can often show ambiguous signs (ex: diminished vesical breath sounds) that can give more precise information after percussion (ex: dullness to percussion). Palpation and percussion can also help you predict what you could hear (or even should hear) in pulmonary auscultation.

Not very thorough....BUT I've been asked to have my head to toe assessments completed in 15 min. in my clinical placement! How thorough can we be in 15 min?? LOL! She took 37 min and still missed many assessments (thoracic expansion, AP:T diameter, cranial nerves.....). Over all GOOD JOB!! Going over the basics in every system will help to alert the Nurse to investigate any abnormal findings further!!
