HEAD Graphene 360+ Prestige Racquets Review - The Prestige is Back!

Спорт

It is finally here! The new HEAD Graphene 360+ Prestige line of racquets. I review them all in this video. Sadly, I had to record the voice-over with a cold, thanks for understanding. Cheers / Jonas

My goodness finally someone in this planet cleared things up for me regarding the head size of head! I knew my old prestige IG 98 seems smaller than the babolat pure strike 98!

zachary wan it’s not actually true that they measured the outside of the hoop, that would be way more than just 3 square inches. It was false advertising for advertising purposes. Remember that Head is an Austrian brand. Hence they measured head size in square centimetres. That’s where the names of the classics come from. 93 sq inches = 600 cm^2. 98 inch^2 = 630 cm^2. They rounded up to get nice numbers, there’s no other way to get the respective advertised head sizes of the traditional moulds.

I was very much looking forward to the TN review of the new Prestige models! I didn't think you'd get to them so soon. Thanks!! Excellent, thorough and clear review as always. Now, as a long term Pro Staff and Prestige player, time to decide between the Prestige 360+ MP, Wilson Blade 98 and Volkl C10 Pro. Happy Holidays and all the best for the New Year.

Excellent review Jonas - detailed & very thoughtful - thank you. Mp might be the go I'm thinking also, on the basis of your review and that it doesn't play overly stiff with little connection to the ball like previous graphene models. I'm sure I could happily play with it like my yonex 97 hd (which is a definite winner). I got a ten x 303 last week, only used it once so far (Sunday), obviously customising it straight away (leather grip, weight at 3 & 9)....I didn't mind it, but first thoughts nowhere near as good as my other frames round here. I'll persist with tinkering etc before it goes 'away' permanently. All the best for the New Year's; be safe, healthy & happy hitting. Cheers. 🎾🎾🎾

Great review Jonas! I injuried my left wrist (I am right handed) this year hitting my two handed backhand and since I've been hitting a one hander. That being said, I switched to the gravity pro in september and thought "if there was a 98sq inch head gravity pro it would be perfect for one handed backhands". Seems like now there is, though I don't intend to switch, cause I am just in love with my racqet and I can feel that, if i was hitting my thbh, the racquet would be absolutely perfect for my game. Great to see you getting healthy again, keep it up.

Thx for the review TN. I'm still using the old Youtek series (mid) which IMO was the last series to approximate the old red Classic/Tour series - which was my previous racquet of choice. As such, I'm curious as to how you would rate / compare this latest iteration of the Prestige to the old Youtekech iteration. Love you reviews and watching you guys found the ball in sunny Malta ..makes us all envious .. though I can't complain too much given that I live in sunny southern California 😎 But it's been raining here lately and a bit chili in the mid-fifties today so again enjoy watching you swing the racket in the sunny environs of the Mediterranean isle of Malta.

Love your review and hitting! I got a chance to test the MP. I can feel it is going back to the right direction. No vibration coming from the frame. It is really solid stick. In regard with the change in 360+ MP head size, I noticed only main part of the head loop is little longer than the IG MP. It appears that other sides of the loop are exactly same with the previous ones. I assume this technology applied to MXG series.

Today (2024) I have three TOUR's in my bag. I never buy the new frames offered by HEAD or Wilson. I haven't hit with a Prestige since the late 80's, early 90's. I'm a senior doubles player and would have thought this frame might not be for me. I have full, classic strokes and found that strung in the mid-40's with Caviar with Ghostwire cross strings has transformed into a lethal volley weapon. I can also hit topspin lobs and while not a serve racquet, it does the job.

Great video! I got confused with the head size measurements though. I have owned the Microgel, Graphene, Graphene XT and now Graphene Touch Prestige Pros, all listed at 98 inches but the last one, the Graphene Touch, listed at 95 inches when they changed their measurements. So, what I understand is that in comparison to other manufacturers, all the 98 inch ones were actually 95 inch? Meaning all the Prestige Pros have always been 95 inch head sized racquets? Visually, they are on par with every 98 inch racquet I've seen (Blades, RF97-ish, Pure Strike 98, etc), and 95 inch racquets does look and feel very different to al my prestiges. Maybe I got it wrong and it actually is the other way around? Hahaha my brain is broken. Great videos anyways! If you get to answer this comment that'd help me a lot! Thanks.

if you put a 1.15mm hyperg soft ,it will lift the ball on the MP . also putting a multi as a main string lifted the balls. MP RAKET caused me to upercut the balls cause i could not hit a flat shot without it going into net... also lack of power caused me to swing harder which is not good on elbow or shoulder

Is the MP better racquet than the IG radical pro? I was using the pt280 and then the IG radical pro, the ig radical pro gives me all (all, i win more, leather grip, lead tape 3 and 9) but the color and the balance its a bit strange, i am looking a retail racquet with the power, feeling and the spin of the ig radical but with the balance of the pro tour (the weight is not an issue) i was looking for the volkl c10 pro, textreme 95 16x19, dunlop cx200 16x19, yonex 97, TF 40....i dont know: that classic balance like a pro staff of serve and volley but the thick frame, power and feel (i have been using even the rf autograph)... And the last solution maybe a TGT 260.3 :/ which one do you think could be a good choice?

I had the chance to hit with the MP and the S, both with lynx tour at 52 pounds. The MP was underpowered for me, but I think it would work with thinner and softer poly maybe at 48# The S was more suited to my game easy to play right away, but I would use another poly, lynx tour did not impress me.

Prestige S feels great. Still testing but already started considering to switch from GT Speed MP Blue (which is excellent allround racket). Btw I guess you would strongly benefit from lighter frames playing guys hitting some heavy balls :) one-handed backhand with sw 340 and full & not very fast swing? Why to play in any other direction against you? :)

TN: I play with the Touch MP and found it to feel noticeably "softer" than the GrapheneXT. So this new one is even softer feeling despite of a bigger headsize, or is the frame more or less equally stiff but with a more muted/filtered feeling?

I went back and forth between the two of them but finally settled on the Pro. I thought it was easier to play with due to more open string pattern/higher launch angle. It also has more consistent string bed. The feel of the MP is definitely superior with the extra flex. and if you’re a more aggressive player, then you might prefer it. if I didn’t keep my foot on the gas with the mp then I lost lots of depth but if I was committed to being aggressive and moving my feet then I played some really good tennis. Was a very tough choice! Good luck.

I would recommend you to play for a couple of weeks before making a switch. The ”honeymoon” phase can make a racquet feel fantastic so you need to see what it does to your game over time...

Tennisnerd wow! Really? 2019 and 2020 bringing back the olds school feel.... I played with stiff raquete all my life and now I’m trusting to find one that fits this feel/ performance balance. And I’m so confused. Phantom pro 100 seems too much low stiff and I was thinking about yonex ezone 98 (305) . The spec that unliked more were from the pro kennex ki q+ tour but it’s expensive for me.

Was the Touch Prestige Mid more flexible than this current one? The RA rating is shown to be higher on the new one but everyone says the new one is more flexible.

Prestige S: What really irritates me is that you classify this model as a hybrid, not exactly fitting to the Prestige line (less control more power) 》Which new Head Line does feel similar to the Prestige S then? (Let me estimate: Radical MP/Pro or the Gravity MP?)

I worship my IG MPs but as they are no longer available for purchase, what other generation gets closer in terms of plow and feel? Can I just add some lead tape at 2 and 10 o'clock and a leather grip to a Graphene Touch and make it feel like a bona fide Prestige? Not very fond of the head size increase and candy red color of this new generation. Why keep deviating from the IG that almost everyone seems to like so much?

  • @Tennisnerd

    @Tennisnerd

    3 жыл бұрын

The IG is great, but you can find them used on various sites and forums. You can also try the Angell TC 95 for a good replacement racquet. The Graphene Touch is not my fave, I prefer the latest version.

  • @LaBestia2156

@@Tennisnerd I agree, the Touch feels a little hollow in the hoop when at net compared to my IGs. Still a lot better than the previous two abominations (xt and graphene). I got a few on sale and will fortify them with lead. I will try 2 and 10 in one and 3 and 9 in another with corresponding counterweight at the grip along with Head leather grip. I am already used to the weird Head grip shape and the 95 head. Have been playing Prestiges since the late 80's. I would not want this line to become another tweener line. I think Head has many other lines (Radical, Speed and now Gravity) that are more light and less stable and offer bigger head sizes. There is no need to change the Prestige line so much. I think that IG was the last true Prestige, now I will try to make surgery to the Touch to make it feel like it. You guys do great reviews, keep the good work. We have the best sport in the world.

Why wonder where the 99sq in frame falls? It's for recreational players. The Prestige line itself relies solely on it's reputation. Even the pros have begun to move away from them. Their time has come and gone. No recreational player should ever be buying one of these frames besides maybe the 99's. The actual Prestige that is having an identity problem is everything but the 99. The main reason people buy a Prestige is for the feel. It's rarely because they play better with one.
