It shows the impact of guitar/musician KZread that an almost unknown band in New Zealand wrote a song incorporating Mary Spender and Rick Beato. Well done...and congrats Mary! You are now even more famous!

Supposedly, most of The Beatles' songs were originally about Mary Spender, but their record label forced them to use other names "for the sake of originality". The band also wanted to be called The Beatos, but the pun on 'beetles' was too good to resist in an era when the Volkswagen Beetle was trendy.

Our band opened for Shady Brain Farm at Moon Bar in Newtown Wellington a few weeks back.

At first I thought it was either a naming coincidence, or a play on the name off the phrase 'want to spend time with you'. But then he dropped he Beato line and NOPE! Mary's got Kiwi Fans! We definitely need a cover from Mary and Rick together. lol

That is an old "Yardbirds" trick from 1965. The Yardbirds would always through the middle of the song go from 4x4 to 7x8 time up tempo. Then they would return to the original tempo for the last verse. ( not the Beatles).

Mary Spender - I checked out the song on Spotify, and decided to listen to the rest of the EP. The four tunes are actually quite enjoyable to listen to. They are well-structured and well-played. As acknowledged by one of the band members earlier in these comments, their exposure level has just skyrocketed. That's Mary Spender's gift to the Shady Brain Farm

You had done a duet with Leo of Frog Leap Studios, that is on KZread. “Sultans of Swing”(?), I think the song was. Very nice to listen to, very enjoyable to watch. I have not watched everything you’ve posted, but what I have seen has been interesting/nice/fun. The first video that came to my mind was when you played music in an empty church in a remote part of the (UK). The acoustics of the place was remarkable. Keep up the good work!

I think this was clearly flattering. All three did great on their instruments. It was done out of a sense of genuine admiration, and it was way better than any song ever written about me.
