A German lady in our church years ago, used to sing this song. She was a child during the war and I remember her testimony of how her mother would carry her over the dead bodies.
And then there was the drug scene in her own life as a young woman, BUT the Lord saved her life and her soul. Her and her husband worked for years keeping up the hedge cross in front of our church. They also served as church secretary and superintendent for years. Thank goodness the Lord was there all the time. She still attends our church today.
