Black men and women. Don't ever let the Hammond organ get away from you in your worship in church. Use that organ. That Hammond was meant to glorify the Lord. Great job Brother Derrick

Y'all have to be speaking sarcastically. I can't believe you're that silly. I guess "God" didn't create the same organ for jazz musicians.....or the music he's playing which ain't nothing but blues with "gospel" lyrics.............

That comment can go towards the churches of all races, the Hammond is disappearing from all churches. It's a tool that all Gods children should be utilizing. I recently got an awesome C3 and Leslie 122 from a church for $500. I told the church I felt bad cause it was worth more than that. Their reply "we don't need stuffy organ music, we have a praise team w drums and guitars. I did not feel bad after that. "Praise team" hmm, that used to just be the church lifting their voices together . Sorry getting off my soap box now.

All he is doing is taking a chord, spreading it out and adding matching notes over and over. No real talent, just a lot of practice at playing the same thing over and over. Playing a dual chord is going to sound good on an organ, it's why an organ sounds so good.

It is truly a blessing to see a gospel organist with such musicianship as this man of God displayed. From the voice leading of his chord progressions to the colorful registrations to his of the pedals. And as someone else noticed he used some liturgical classical pipe organ interpretations. Truly an awesome all around seasoned organist which some of these younger musicians can learn from. God bless you and your wife!

He is a master musician at every level, and I'm not sure there is another human being alive that can make the B3 bring out the emotion that Derrick can. As a working musician, I'm just in awe every time I listen to this.....and every student I have listen to this in impacted. Derrick is a TRUE, one of a kind talent,

Nice to see that the COGIC still tears the organ up. Coming from the AG it is rare to see an organ in one now. Much less a Hammond. But I was blessed to find one in my own town. Has a good old fashioned Hammond C3 with a Leslie 122:) I have heard organist before that were claiming to be the best and to every one of them I was always disappointed. Turns out that the 66 year old lady I go to church with could burn them alive. However this guy is one that I can honestly say that I like it:)

I literally got chills man. WOW. Living legend. The one and only Derrick Jackson. Even Mike Bereal taking notes! My two favorites.

Derrick and his sister Barbara are responsible for the advancement of many keyboard playing musicians throughout the city of Memphis TN. If you didn't learn from them directly, you learned leaning over the shoulders of those who possibly have. Their teaching style made many of us quicker studies of music we'd struggle with. They both deserve they flowers now. This medley is indicative of that.
