The Board of Pardons and Parolees determines when an inmate goes up for parole in Utah not the DA or even the judge. This guy was in custody for almost 2 years before his sentencing so he probably just came up on an automatic review. Just because he gets a parole hearing does not mean his is being granted parole any time soon. This policy is set by our very "red" legislature.

To take it to trial means need to prove your case and prosecutor would look like a ahole forcing a victim to take the stand. I’m happy she has a mission of making sure this pos never gets out. If he or someone he knew had seen fellow inmates get a UA before, they have a general idea of when they’ll be testing you. They have 24/7 365 X however many years..they have time to think up methods that real people don’t have time to test. I’m sure there are other methods they have Just a theory. Usually if it’s too watery it’s from adding water but could by from overhydrating. I’ve never been to prison but I have friends his age or older who have and it’s easier to get away with things than you would think-and these guys aren’t even particularly clever, it’s just they have all their mind power towards one thing for so much time. They just have to find one CO who is underpaid and irritated w their boss or job and needs some money, that one insider will get them a lot. The cartels usually do that kind of stuff, simply because they have the resources and know the right people

It's always the way. My ex was caught by an online predator group and the protection he received was vomit inducing. He was put up in a hotel far away from the town we live in, then he was given a phone with WiFi access which is how he commited his offenses and I know he's been online which isn't allowed under his bail conditions, he's been given a flat twice because he didn't feel " safe" in the first one. I tell you it boils my blood!!! He should get no protection his victim didn't, he should get put into general population in prison so he can feel what it's like to be the prey. He's stalking me now and its getting really malevolent so I've moved so he doesn't know where I am now and I'm reporting him so off to jail he'll go. I've also made posters and put them up in the area he's living to make people aware to watch their children.

My daughter was r@ped at 15yrs old and she will be 21 this fall. Since her assault, she has been diagnosed with cpstd, severe anxiety and depression, one suicide attempt, and has zero social life bc she never wants to leave the house bc shes afraid she'll see him in public. It has damaged her so severely that its too much for her mentally and emotionally to even think about going to the police and having to relive all the horrible details over and over to whatever detectives, DA, lawyers, etc are involved. I feel like coming forward would do more damage at this point. She refuses therapy, and now that she's a legal adult, I cannot make her do it. I hope one day she can be strong enough to put that monster where he belongs. And god help him if i ever find him.

I have a daughter that suffered the same fate in a local outside park at 15 and she is also 21 now. My daughter is "somewhat" healed and the only way to do that is through. Not to avoid the trauma even how horrible it may sound. It is so much shame around these memories but for every time she speaks up, some of the shame goes away. I just wanted to give you hope by telling our story. There is a way to survive and eventually thrive again❤ I will pray that your daughter can power through somehow and live the wonderful life she deserves. Never give up ❤❤❤

Similar happened to me at 16. I had to choose between paying for healthcare to heal or pursuing legal action. I chose healthcare. Still to this day I have pelvic floor dysfunction chronic pain and pelvic floor nerve damage. I can’t have kids because intimacy is physically and mentally painful. He changed my whole future and is graduating to be a neurosurgeon next year

He's lying to her he's not trying to get in the sex offender program because he's trying to appeal the conviction how are you going to go into a sex offender program and the first thing you're going to say is I didn't commit the crime I'm appealing the conviction there's no sense he's a liar and besides that he's told everybody he's in for armed robbery he's a liar

He will be out in 2026, as they said that he can only be remanded to their jurisdiction til 2026. He can come up for parole before that time.

Imagine having this happen as a woman...he is a pos and he should be locked up forever so no other woman has to fear this

This is a walking stalking animal! When he gets out, I believe he'll just be smarter next time not to get caught! If he acts this cavalier at his Parole hearing what must he be like on the outside. He is a danger to society. A predator with NO moral compass!!

What a strong and brave survivor! She deserves a lot of credit. Giving her details must have been incredibly difficult! She took that hearing in hand!

Her victim impact statement was absolutely heartbreaking. I imagine it was very difficult for the parole board to hold back their tears…

I've been rxped you dont ever "move on" you're left with a life sentence so the perpetrator should get life too. He shows absolutely no remose for what he did im sure in his mind " she was asking for it, if she hadnt been drunk, dressed like that" blah blah blah I'd put money on the fact hes done this before.

I'm thankful this type of crime against women is finally being taken seriously and the offenders are being held accountable. Growing up female, this crime is always looming. The woman on the parole board was did an excellent job - she was direct and well spoken.

If it was truly being taken seriously, he wouldn't be up for parole after 10 months of a life sentence, forcing the victim to relive her trauma every time he goes to for parole.

Most of these crimes never end up in court and the horrifying ones that do get dropped to lesser charges!!

Sounds like he has learnt nothing about respect for meaning of 'consent' or empathy for his victim. He is simply saying what he feels he needs to be free. No sir, you deserve to serve every day and more.

The victim is so brave. Disgusting Utah tortures her over and over again.

It was very passive aggressive of him to throw in he needs a prostate check. That’s to re-traumatize the victim into flashing back to his member and the other two. He could’ve kept that to himself; it’s typically just a wellness check. What a disgusting POS!

Yeah I noticed that too. I thought that was a pretty weird and disgusting thing to say. It's not like he is even that old either. Most men his age would not have been worrying about that at that age. I am pretty sure he isn't either. He just had to throw that in there because he wanted to be able to say something that would remind her of his disgusting crimes.

It's also just a ridiculous thing to say in general considering that Utah has only executed two people in the past 34 years, and none since 2010. Ron Lafferty was on death row in Utah for almost 40 years and ended up dying of natural causes.

The poor brave victim gave the most heart wrenching statement and his first response is not to apologize but to get defensive about how he HAS tried to better himself. And then he says she shouldn’t use him as a reason to keep herself down as if she wants to feel this way? AND he said he wants to help his community - well, he can by staying in prison. Piece of sh*t.

His initial comments, in response to his victim’s statement, told us all we need to know about this man. He is completely indifferent to the suffering he has caused that woman; he’s forgiven himself, so she needs to “move on”. Only when the Parole Board administrator rebuked him did he suddenly go all “oh, boo-hoo, I’m so sorry, I wish I’d got the death penalty, blah, blah”. He will only ever say what he thinks will go down best for his chances of parole. And quite frankly, that he was allowed to plead to “attempted” SA, when he actually committed the assault - not to mention he’s able to request parole 10 months into his sentence - proves that he is unlikely to learn anything from the justice system, or have any incentive to reform.

10 months! This is a life sentence ridiculous. I was waiting for them to say it’s been 10 years

Parole hearing after 10 months?? What?! This is cruel and unusual punishment for the victim to have to go thru the trauma over and over after short periods of time?? She’s now in prison as well and can’t move on having to keep reliving this at each 2 year period! What a travesty of justice. There should be minimum of 10 years before a parole hearing at the beginning of a sentence. Her life will continually be in limbo and the laws need to change in these hick states. Parole after 4 years after raping a woman and whatever he did to children in his own family?? Makes you wonder about the kind of people on the parole board?? Sympathizers?? Disgusting

Most politicians are high in psychopathy. Washington, DC has more diagnosed psychopaths than any other city. So they don't take SA, or any crime seriously (except crime against them personally.)

it looks like he spent nearly two years in jail before sentencing(690 days). It is probably just an automatic referral. No way this guy should get paroled.

"You will be paroled at some point" WHY?? What is this mindset that offenders should be automatically paroled at some point? What is wrong with actually serving the sentence handed down?

"I've bettered myself beyond belief" That is probably the most true statement he said the entire time. It is absolutely beyond belief because nobody's going to believe him

The first hearing with the strong af victim and the parole board member that didn't let that man say dumb stuff was great. The second was ridiculous and dangerous. We should all be scared how easy it is for violent offenders to get parole! Thank you Mandoo and Richard for the exposure!

The second one was ridiculous he barely questioned him so didn't get any explanation of anything then they let him out, he'll be back, I hope the father's of the children meet him one dark night somewhere quiet and show him the error of his ways.

I’m so sorry for the first survivor of a violent crime. I’m sick of plea deals at the expense of the victims. I wish you peace and healing that you so much deserve.

He expects his victim to make his heinous act better like it was no big deal to him. I have a strong felling that he has done this before and ran to another state to hide like he did in this case. When asked what his plan was so he wouldn't do this again one of his comments was "I'm trying not to go to any bars". Well of course he's not going to any bars because he's incarcerated. He mentioned alcoholism but never said that he is in or has taken any classes or is actively involved with AA or plan on taking any classes or getting involved with AA.

Same. I've been rxped and he should NEVER get out. The victim is left with a life sentence you don't ever "just get over it" you learn to live with it. That poor girl having to repeatedly give impact statements and im sure he is loving hearing the impact he's had. That poor girl should have someone to advocate for her and read the statements. Her victim statement has me in tears. If he had any remorse he wouldn't ask for appeals he'd do his whole sentence without torturing his victim over and over again.

Only got 4 mins in. I couldn't continue. The description of what the perpetrator did disgusted so badly. My heart broke for that little girl.

That is torture for her. She will never heal, the wounds are being torn open every 2 years and 1 month. It would have been easier for her had she just moved away and never said anything - like most women do. She is beyond brave. Her living hell, Sentenced over and over, 2 years, 1 month 2 years, 1 month Repeat, Remember, Repeat, A victims demise, Ticking away, 2 years, 1 month, 2 years, 1 month.

I've never heard a prisoner talk like this before never let this guy out

He basically was saying, it's no big deal get over it. What a sick twisted animal, and to have to come in every two years and face that monster infuriates me. What the! 10 months, 10 MONTHS!!!!! And she has to come in and make a case to defend herself and try and keep him in prison. I'm so furious right now. The laws need to change, the victims need to have more rights, and not be put through cruel unnecessary trauma. Ridiculous!

He is disgusting! Him being the one that raped her has no business telling her to get over it. If it wasn't for him forcing himself on her, then she would be in the shape she is in. What he don't get even if he says he is trying to better himself, that still doesn't change what he did. I hope for herself, she gets better and can eventually start living again.
