The whole house appears to be where they are attempting to send him but there is no bed availability. I’ll tell you this, if that lawyer thinks it’s unlikely that there isn’t a bed in the State in a halfway house that will take him she has obviously never tried to find a bed for one of these persons. Long term beds are very few and availability is spotty at best. Halfway houses where the situation is less secure and the staff are not going to have the facilities nor the staff to deal with a non-compliant and aggressive client are going to be very reluctant to accept him.

I wanted to share my story that pertains to this exactly! I was a manager to a house where we rented rooms out. This is how I met a brilliant young lady. I took her under my wings like a daughter. During the first 6 months, I started chemo, and had become blind due to my illness etc..she helped me. So loving, no problems. It was on the 7th month that a switch flipped. This young lady suddenly thought I was poisoning her food and water. Then one day, after my chemo treatment, I was very weak and couldn't make it to my bed, I laid down on our couch. She had came in through the front door and charged at me, grabbed my hair, dragged me around the carpet as she punched me in the face, yelling a bunch of nonsense. For some reason, she suddenly let go. That was when I called 911. Thankfully, the DA in our county asked me what I wanted to do. I adamantly said that she needed mental health help, NOT jail time. So, she was ordered to be admitted to long term, inpatient mental health facility, plus a restraining order. She is doing better and has started college now. Jail time would've destroyed her. My point is, if we deal with mental health issues, then we would eliminate so many other problems.

I agree with his lawyer. Because some one is mentally ill they should not be put in jail. This country closed most mental hospitals so the mentally ill live in jail. Open the mental hospitals for anericans who need them. They are given their meds in hospitals and many times when they are on their medication you would be amazed how different they are. We throw billions away why not spend some of that money to open places for our mentally ill people to go to.

So this guy has had his probation revoked, but will be ultimately “off paper” in a few months? (No probation or parole) Now they’ve started using Commitment language to process him into a mental institution, where there is no end date. I understand why in his early interview, he stated he would rather finish probation time in prison than go to a mental hospital. lol As for the Insulin, my mom and I had to pull my grandma out of the hospital (she had a broken hip) because they continued to inject her w/Insulin. (She was borderline diabetic & her GP had prescribed a pill). The pill made her very unsteady on her feet, she fell & broke her hip). So we specifically told them, NO INSULIN. The injections made her completely incoherent. I had to threaten the hospital w/my lawyer, before they released her to us. She happily lived another 18 yrs, 89yr old, insulin free, by just watching her diet.

ok a little clarification is needed: insulin does not yet come in a pill; that solution is being worked on by medication companies. she probably got metformin from her doctor; it is the common first treatment for high sugars. it is not the same thing as insulin. if she had intolerable side effects i can understand wanting to stop a med. ur grandmother is very lucky that changing her diet made her sugars stable.

This is the result of closing residential mental health facilities in the 1970s. Now the prison system (a for-profit system) is filled with people better served by a mental health commitment rather than a stay in prison. Instead of being placed in a facility where he can be treated the choices come down to imprisonment with inappropriate levels of mental health treatment or release into the community where innocent citizens are exposed to this obviously dangerous individual. The lack of systemic competency is astonishing. It's now come down to a checklist with options that don't address the actual issues. Even this hearing is nothing but an example of pro-forma, fill in the blanks adudication.

The chairwoman's voice is like a mother screaming at a toddler (yep, he is) who let her emotions get the better of her. Haven't they heard of a mute button? 😬 As for Lindsey, God bless her. Good video, Mandoo.
