I honestly think that if she had lived, she would have loved him without any limits and made Tywin accept him and protect him from all the cruelty and gossip surrounding him being a "dwarf."

+TheMessedUpKidMaai I do too. I think she wouldn't have allowed anyone to treat him badly. There's not much written about her but from the little that I have read I always imagined her like this. I think her dying took what little joy Tywin had and turned it into bitter resentment.

And that he is not his son, he's Aery's and Tywin knows it. Aery's raped Joanna, and the result was Tyrion. That and that he's a dwarf period. In medieval times that was considered a judgement of the gods. It reflected poorly on Tywin to have a dwarf son. And he also might have hated having to give his name to someone who was not his son just to protect his wifes reputation.

How different would have been ASOIAF if three mothers would have survived their thirdborns's delivery...

Technically, Daenerys isn't Joanna's thirdborn, just the third who survived past the cradle. One of the main reasons why Aerys went mad was because so many of his children were stillborn or died as infants

So much pain is apparent with the lannisters in this clip. The assumption that she was a rare woman is quite strong thru out the entire series by the way the family blames tyrion. So sad and unfair that he was blamed for it his whole life.

I think he "enjoyed her" because she was smart and fierce, and she wasn't afraid of him. How many years do you think had passed from the moment when he sat down with an enthusiastic child (or any enthusiastic person, for that matter) and talked about history? And how long since he had that with his wife and children? This lack of innocent and yet interesting contact, of normal conversation, propably was his everyday for years. After all that's what happens when everyone wants to kiss up to you and you won't even look at your kids. (as a sidenote; Imagine: you are an intelligent person. You love your wife. Then, suddenly, she dies because of you (you produced the "monstrous" child that killed her and you hate yourself for that), and your family falls apart. You have many other things to pursue: power, duty, influence, your family name. As you know that your family, as in the people in this generation, can never be healthy or happy again anyways, you distance yourself from them all and work towards other goals. From this comes the ruthlessnes and apathy necessary to convince yourself that you have to disregard the individual needs of your family for it to prosper (a concept that seems natural to you because of your father, whom you view as self indulgent and incompetent). You henceforth attain a position of great power and great loneliness, just like you wanted. You are still that intelligent person from the beginning, just in a much "better", from your point of view, position. One of the things you miss may be honest conversation. Do you want to sit down with your books sometimes and rest atop of your self-built imperium? That's one theory of why Tywin is the person he is. Not necessarily true, but somewhat plausible. Anyway, for someone in his position to meet an interesting person who is willing to forego the mind games and just talk about whatever (dragons!) is propably increasingly rare. And I don't think he actually enjoys solitude. It's just a consequence of his actions.) I think Arya suprised him with her honesty (and yes, I use that word, because she showed Tywin her personality, even if she lied about her identity). Any normal squire would've just acted stupid around him. Arya was...normal. Phew, that's just my thoughts on this video and Arya in general.

In some ways Tywin was like Joseph Stalin. Ekaterina Stalin was the only women who ever melted Joe's heart, & when he she died, a big part of him died & became grumpier.

I would like to think that Joanna would have treated Tyrion kindly, but IDK. She would have had the common belief in medieval times and certainly in Westeros that dwarves were embaressments. But maybe she would have caved to what Cersei did, a mothers love for her children. Mothers have no choice but to love their children. And she could have convinced Tywin to treat Tyrion better, because to abuse a member of their house would not be acceptable.

She probably would've been ashamed of him but not hated him because Tyrions family hated him because he killed his mother, they were ashamed of him because he was a dwarf so it probably would just been the embarrassment part so I'm sure everyone in his family would've treated him better especially Tywin.

SJ N Have you read the books? There’s a particularly potent exchange between Jaime and his aunt, Gemma Lannister. She points out that Tywin has a son just like him: But it’s not Jaime, like everyone wants to believe. It’s Tyrion. It’s a short part in the book, but a very strong one. Kudos to you on this vid.
