Wonderful lads, as always. Your apparent lack of structure ('glaring' may be too strong?) works so well it could be choreographed. Just three lads in the pub (could be), cracking on about The Toon, but the fact that it's well-informed crack makes it essential viewing, as well as very entertaining. Don't ever change (too much?).

Brilliant analysis. Reckon we need (1) fast CB for £40m, (2) GK standby for Pope £10m, (3) RW Forest's Gibbs-White for £45m and sell Miggy for £15m. I don't think we have the budget to replace Callum. So spend of £95m but amortized over 4 years is £24m per year.

I noticed Howe was uncomfortable on the question about bringing in players with elite mentality.

Longstaff offers us absolutely nothing, I just don’t get what people see in him at all

Howes been brilliant at taking players like Longstaff to their peak, problem is if they drop off there's no in-between, they don't have the ability or skill to fall back on. I think this was highlighted during the injury crisis when players ran out of steam towards the end of games, they just aren't good enough. In my opinion Longstaff is an average Premier League player at best, I hope he's sold before fans turn on him which he doesn't deserve. Number 1 (for the last 18/24 months) transfer target (no pun intended) has to be a quality Left back, madness we haven't got one in.

Any player who has been at the club for 5 years represents ‘pure profit’ as they will have been fully amortised at that point. The FCB claimed more than once that he paid and amortised transfer fees immediately so all pre-takeover signed players would be ‘pure profit’ if that was true. If Longstaff and Dummett go we have only one club trained senior player next year (Anderson) unless Joe White stays with the senior squad (more likely to go on loan). That means a European squad of only 22 players.

The players we signed under Ashley are all PURE PROFIT. He paid them all off in one go instead of doing it on tick like every other club, the only reason players aren’t pure profit is cause you still owe money for them. Almiron would be pure profit as we bought him out right. The only player we didn’t buy out right was willock.
