That is so true, just was a relationship he never had time for me, I always. Went out of my way for him , he was always laid back. @@socol76 I don't think that's exactly right. If you're not interested, just ignore him. If you are interested, give him enough to encourage him to chase you. The message I see is: if he doesn't seem very invested, don't give him a ton more than he's giving you, or he'll write you off. The bit about showing him he's in the 'danger zone' - the do-or-die - is brilliant, and will trigger most men's hunting instincts!

Do you genuinely want to go on a date with a guy that only changed his behaviour once you called him out for it? I had a man spend $1,000 on a plane ticket to come see me because I joked that I wanted to see him or I'd be sad. Another dude braved 2 hours in a snowstorm using public transit because his phone wasn't sending messages and he didn't want to stand me up. Those are the men I'd like to date, I'm not into Grandpa.

I used to date someone like that, he would leave me on read then give me a bunch of excuses that he's working all the damn time, ignore my messages for 3 or 4 days then cb like nothing happened .. After crying for several days and deleting his number few times, I deleted his number for the last time and our conversations as well and ignored his ass when he came back, met someone a month later and now we've been together for over a year.. Plz ladies don't settle down for guys like this

Damn, you really hit the nail on the head. I’ve been with a low motivated boyfriend who doesn’t inspire me. Never comes up with date ideas. Always an excuse. It’s time to cut the cord.

I have no time to play high school with a grown man.. January this year my ex asked for space, I told him to take all the time he wanted.. Immediately I moved on with my life as if nothing had changed, was travelling and having fun with friends.. He started popping up saying I was having fun and had forgotten him.. Asked him what he meant when he asked for space if he wants us in touch... Also told him my happiness isn't owned by him either and that's why with or without him I'm happy... He came back again and told him I deserved a relationship where my man gives me his time, passion, puts efforts, communicates well etc and not kind of relationship where I'm nervous, experience mixed emotions and confusion... I said I wouldn't be with a man who disappears from me when he feels like, then comes back for some validation, ego boosting or to help him with his boredom or if things failed to work out there in the one to put up with it... I wished him well and I'm so happy single

I had a friend that started doing this. We never had convo issues and then all the sudden he was taking 2 weeks or more to answer. Saying he was 'busy. He gave these excuses too. I'm worth 30 seconds of time. So I finally said no hard feelings but I'm not putting any more energy into this and he disappeared completely. I'm at a point, I know my value and I'm not chasing anymore.

I've never heard who this Mathew Hussey is but everything he says is right. You have to see excuses immediately. It's really simple. If a guy or girl likes you, he'll text all the time. If he or she is not into you, he won't text. Simple. No excuses.

That's not 100% right, but if they are into you they'll make a *proactive* effort to explain why they are/will be largely incommunicado - "I'm being deployed" "I'll be on stage at the conference" "Microsoft screwed up my PC again" :) The last one happened to me recently, so I installed Whatsapp to be able to keep sending/receiving texts to my lovely gf.

Right?. ....I sent a text just last night. If I saw this vidoo earlier I would've composed the text differently. But it's cool....this guy claimed to be Interesteda few months ago...he went from calling and texting everyday....to texting only "good morning" once a week....nothing more. He would contact me to make plans and then disappear for almost 2 weeks! Then pop back up with a normal "Hello there"...no explanation or apology...I had enough and told him I was tired of his empty promises and my time is better spent with people who knew what they want. Obviously he didn't. I asked him not to contact me anymore. He simply replied "Ok if that's how you feel"....and that was that. I had the feeling he was stringing me along for a while now....but I'm done with that. I deserve better. Moving on

It’s simple in my eyes. If you feel someone is stringing you along, just stop all interaction whether it be cold turkey or slowly drips away to nothing. It’s not hard when you love yourself and put yourself first. Don’t pursue, don’t push conversation and let him drift away. Make room for someone who is not a stringer. Life is too short and time is too precious to even think of entertaining something or someone who’s not serving you! Self love, self care, first. The rest will be so free and easy when you let go and watch the natural way life unfolds.

If he doesn't take it it really means he's not interested enough - no guy who likes you would risk losing you in such a silly matter. Besides double texting will make you seem desperate and that's not attractive to anyone. He needs to invest his part in the relationship. The question is why do you still want to be with a guy who doesn't care about you or not put any effort? Because he's a "nice guy"? Really? There are plenty of nice guys out there who would treat you better. Have some confidence in yourself as a woman. If you don't value yourself, don't expect others to do that. If you let others stomp all over you, you'll never find respect, attractiveness and love. You did your part. Now wait for his turn have patience. Another way of looking at it is "match their energy." When you put effort into a text (or any form of communication or interaction for that matter), and the other person gives only the minimal amount of effort back, match that. Send them a message that lets them know "Hey, you could tell from my earlier message(s) that I'm willing to put in effort, but not if you're not willing to meet me halfway, I'm not carrying this conversation for you." It's a good precedent to set because so many people will take advantage of you putting in all the effort yourself. Some can be snapped out of it with texts like these, where they realize what they're doing is stupid. The rest aren't worth the effort.

Simple answer: Every person has a ton of things they're attracted to. Some people are conscious of all the things, some people aren't--but most people are somewhere in between. So, there's a few possibilities here: 1) He realized you meet core needs he has in an intimate partner, and he finds you some level of attractive physically, but definitely very attractive on a much deeper level. 2) He's coping with feelings that tell him there's never going to be a gal who meets his "high ideals"--in which case, he's not being real with himself and what he needs be doing in order to meet the right gal for him. 3) He's being a horny jerk and letting his hormones over-run his regard for you (he's not likely to stay long, if at all, should this be the case). 4) He could have been gauging whether or not you were right for him, or whether or not you could possibly have been into him, and he's just now got the courage to through it all to the wind and try (basically, he may have thought you're out of his league, but then rethought the situation and decided life's too short). I could probably keep adding to this list, but I'm not going to. Instead, I'm going to simply tell you to make him make all the moves--but let him know you're open to the idea (basically, just ask him when he'll actually have the balls to just ask you out)--and challenge you to make sure you do NOT get into a physical relationship with this guy until you're SURE he's planning to stick around. I've had friends I didn't give a second thought to as a potential life mate, only to discover they had a whole side to them I'd never really seen. Trust me, I wanted to travel back in time and begin a relationship from the point at which I'd met them--to try and make up for lost time. It's possible, as are many things.

If anyone didn't bother texting me back for days I'd drop them quick-smart. If they aren't interested, they aren't worth it. Now if they texted me back later that same day, it's fine 'cause their phone may have ran out of power and needed charging.

Is it something you want to get out of the way soon--meet the person to see if you're really interested? Or does it feel like a huge commitment (you prefer to get to know the person online)? Just don't wait too long, because the longer you wait, the more you and the girl have riding on the line when you DO meet, and it could get ugly if things don't go the way you want. Meeting someone for that first date can be really intimidating for both people! But if you're not scared to ask, if you're ok with the girl saying "no" or "it's too early," that's an alpha move. You show your confidence by taking risks and not flying off the handle when things don't go your way. Don't overinvest in that first date--you don't know if you really want to be with that person. It's too early. Be cool.

My rule is, "Don't invest anything you can't afford to lose." It makes sense to me. Sometimes the matching investments game can backfire--become a power struggle. Sometimes you just need to give a little extra (IMHO), but you should never give anything you don't really want to give (without expecting anything back), nothing you aren't willing to lose.
