What is 'guide' for the song? Jungkook is normally the first person who receives the song from producers when the song's production is done. Then he records the entire song by himself in the way producer envisioned (emotional delivery, vocal choices, head voice/mix voice, etc) for the other vocals in the team. This process enables other vocals to not only learn the new song but also understand the song better. Sometimes, final recording is different than original guide which Jungkook normally prepares. It is quite normal that since more vocals involve in the production. That's why Jin mentioned that he particularly loved Jungkook's version of Spring Day. He often adds chorus and adlibs even in the guide to help them better. For example, in this clip, Jungkook added chorus and adlibs in the guide for 'In the Soop' logo song. This is one of the reasons why Jungkook seems to know entire lyrics of their discography. RM said a few times that he would ask him when he forgot his lyrics :). After guide is done and actual recording is done, then Jungkook starts working on chorus and adlibs. He adds many layers of chorus to it. Can you imagine how much time he has to spend in the studio for all those works? That's the reason why Jungkook lives in the studio for the entire duration of the new album production. Other members have mentioned about this numerous times. Main vocalist title is not because he sings more part of the song, or he has better techniques, or etc. For him, it also comes with so much responsibilities and hard works. It is quite sad that fandom does not understand and/or appreciate how much he works in the behind. Hope this type of video helps a bit more. BTW, Jungkook gets the credits for all those chorus, it is because he also contributes to write(compose) those lines not only singing those lines.

As the main vocalist, JK really lays the groundwork and scaffolding for all the vocals to shine. I just can't imagine the amount of responsibility he's shouldered (at times *literally* as he is the one who lifts and carries members in the choreos too!) since such a young age. He has done it so graciously and well. It is no wonder his hyungs especially adore him. Shine always sweet JK! 💜

10:30 this was an example of the hidden vocals that Jungkooks does, which means that they have removed the actual melody so that you can only hear the harmonies that Jungkook does in the back, that you might not even notices at times. But Jungkook does most of the harmonies in songs. Jhope does alot too when it has to be an octave lower.

J-hope's vocal talent is so underrated. What makes BTS superior is the various tones and textures of their voices that enables them to successfully tackle various genres individually and collectively.

Jungkook basically sings the whole song in the back of every BTS song. Without him, BTS’ songs would never sound the way they are. He spends hundreds of extra hours in the studio with the producers to record all these layers and create the chorus. He likes overlapping harmonies and he has such good ears. He uses his voice as an instrument!. He is literally a genius.

Indeed he is! He's the backbone of BTS' vocals!

The guide is like a draft of what the song will sound like, simply you can say that every BTS song has a demo version with only Jungkook’s voice singing the whole song. so Jungkook sets with the producers and discuss with them how the song is going to sound like. He interprets the producers’ vision by his voice. After he finishes recording the guide, the other members listen to his guide and imitate the melody to sing their parts. A lot of his vocals in the guide can still be heard in the final version in the background. On top of singing his own parts, he goes to the studio again and again many times after the other members finish recording their parts to record the harmonies, adlibs and maybe other backing vocals he wants to add and to perfect the choruses. He is the backbone of BTS vocals!.

when i think about how he basically lost his childhood for us i just cant help but cry but i’m so thankful people acknowledge how good he is cause he deserves all the praise ❤️

Basically what Sammy just said about not realizing that main vocalist is not just having the most parts... it’s so much more and to think he was named the main vocalist, center of dances, dance line and rapper at 14-15... in front of this supergroup says a lot about his talent. People know he’s amazing and so ppl take it for granted and think he just wakes up and is that good... they see the finished product of jungkook and they see the vocal journey of the other members... and really don’t realize how far jungkooks vocals have come...and that he kills himself to improve all the time... keep seeing people dismiss his talent... it’s extremely frustrating and sad. I’m thankful for videos like this and Sammy appreciating it and him for it.

Being the center of this super group while also being the main vocalist, dance line and rapping even though he is the maknae.... that’s not something that’s common or something I’ve ever seen in a group before. There is no group without one member... but bc of the heavy responsibility of having the most parts and being front and center in everything... that’s what RM meant... that jungkooks place is vital and so many fans really have no clue how much that he really is responsible for in this group. People have started to dismiss his talent, his hard work and determination bc “jungkook is good at everything,” it’s expected for him to be exceptional... so over time when he is... it’s no surprise and it’s not a big deal. People really have forgotten that he busts his ass all day everyday to constantly improve... he doesn’t just wake up being the best..he kills himself to be who he is... and I just wish people would remember that.

Bingo. That´s why I am happy to see this important and illustrative video by Ida S spreading to many Armies who may have been oblivious to what "the main vocalist" really means. It is not a privilege given title to someone who does not have everything it takes to carry that heavy load on his shoulders. I have seen so many outlandish comments about Jeon Jungkook and his position in BTS ( mainly made by envious delusional solo stans) where he was questioned, ridiculed and down right slammed for not deserving his position. The main vocalist needs to work for the best of the whole team and put in way more work than all the others. Responsibility is something unimaginable. Some silly folks still chose to believe it is primarily an ego booster of some sort and nothing else. I really hope this incredible video opens more eyes in the fandom and shuts up all doubters and haters. They all are great, talented and hard working but the main vocalist shoes are a beast to fill well. Jungkook does :-)

@@materidouska286 me too.. I could not have ever imagined a better example of things he does behind the scenes that really are the foundation of bts music. That’s the whole point of a vocal guide…. So he records the full song on his own and they sit as a group and start to figure out who is going to do what… and they go off his guide… so basically he is the foundation of their songs predominantly… and something I recently found out after diving into music production is that jungkook alone records the choruses most of the time…. Which is so weird bc for live stages … and music videos where we here two voices which is normal in that sense for full sounding vocals.. however instead of them singing over their own vocals… they are all singing over jungkooks voice… it’s why sometimes when they sing it sounds almost like him singing… bc it is… or some of jimins best high notes are sung over jungkooks voice in a barely deeper note…. Bc all the vocalists can def hit their own notes and do their parts themselves… but jungkook voice is what makes their notes so much more full sounding… he provides the power to the notes . It’s why the members appreciate him so much.. he he does so much on creating music and also performing it live….. people don’t want to hear that typically…bc they think that means I’m saying jk is the only one who can sing which is not the case at all… has more to do with the notes for each member and the amount of energy it uses for them in their parts… their stamina vocally and physically will have a huge effect on their vocals bc they sing so much friggin when they perform…. And if people weren’t calling all the other vocalists “so much better than jungkook” or they seem to be the ones people are pushing for being the best vocalist… even though bts themselves constantly praise him and thank him for what he does and truly understand the work he puts in. They’re all incredible and each of them brings something very different to the group that they do better than any other member…. That’s what makes them so good… they’re all exceptional… but they each have something different that makes their contribution special… and they’re all such good team players and only care about doing their best… they’re not trying to be a one man show…. They blow me away all the time! He just deserves more love than he’s been getting especially recently… he does so much and is too hard on himself… I’m glad other people see this and understand what that means :)

love your video about jungkook but what i observe of army they kinda not like if we praise jk in every songs if they have another bias that have short line in a song they can't understand being a main vocalist has a responsibility to give best flavor of the song like adlibs and harmonizing.. and the fact that he is the one who done the guide version of the song they will produce..

JK singing the vocal guide is amazing!! he has to record the song in full to guide them with the right notes right melody etc and then they separate them in parts and they make a masterpiece. Such a perfect vocalist. Good job, Golden boy!

Jungkook is a vocalist that can touch hearts. This is not something you can learn, either you have it or you don't. I feel him when he sings. And His role is not a privilege, its a HUGE responsibility. Imagine being given such a responsibility at 15 years old. He must have been terrified, afraid that if he screws up, he can impact the group immensely. I sincerely hope this helps armys appreciate him more.

Being a main vocalist comes with lots of work and responsibility. His behind the scene works are often overlooked and taken for granted. Look at the amount of chorus credits he as on BTS songs and the amount of guide he give to the members. I hope he knows that there are still fans who really apprecitate his works

The guy is genuinely humble and works pretty much non stop but I do not think he looks at it as work, I believe music is his passion and natural element. He lives it, he breathes it, he is it. Its insane how deeply introspective and seriously critical he becomes every time when it comes to self-assessment of his signing and voice quality. That segment of "filtered out" music you were not sure about just clearly SHOWED you otherwise UNNOTICED but ever present voice of JK in majority of their compositions. It proves how much of his voice is used in vocal production of each of their songs - he sings his own lines, he does vocal backing, he harmonizes, he does ad libs. He and his voice build layer after layer, he creates structure, depth, richness and dimension. It goes unnoticed by many but he is there, always :-) A great reaction to a frickin fabulous video by Ida S !!

Jungkook's skills make him look easy to sing. In fact, a lot of effort must be put in. As the main vocalist, he always works with other members to adjust his singing to make the whole song more perfect.

Thank you for your reaction, I knew that JK does a lot of extra work behind the scenes but I was amazed when I watched the video too!!! Yoongi has worked with a lot of musicians and for him to label kookie as the most talented musician he has ever met/seen is huge!!! Kookie was seriously so young, I just recently got to know about all the extra work he puts in and I am amazed, to think that he has been doing this since he was only 15 makes me feel so so proud of him but at the same time makes me emotional, sad cuz I just can’t imagine the pressure!!

I really liked what he said in that interview from You Quiz on the block show, he said that he deleted the idea of having a vocal training hour instead he do it anytime he get a chance, he sings like in the car, in the shower. Instead of having a specific time to only do a vocal training, overdoing yourself from singing, instead he made it more like hobby not a job that he had to overwork himself, singing every chance he get to improve his vocal. More on like enjoying your time singing. I don't know if u get my point, anyway Jk is really an amazing singer, he has a versatile voice and has his own unique style of singing that when you heard it u know that it is him.

Jungkook honestly works so hard besides the god level talent he has and his angelic vocals , that are literally my favourite, he's very dedicated and passionate and always trying to improve and criticizes himself when he feels he didn't do his best , and I I think that's what makes him one of the best Vocalist of this generation. And his responsibilities in BTS as a main vocalist are huge and he has been doing them since age 15, just so proud of my favourite singer.

Jungkook really is talented and he left his home at a really young age. He's our baby❤

Many people are spiteful towards Jungkook because they think he gets too much attention and he 'takes away' attention from their biases (he doesn't. literally everyone shines in BTS). They don't understand that the position of main vocalist is more than just a title there is so much work and responsibility on the person who takes that role and the members have shown their appreciation and respect for the position he has and have acknowledged how difficult it is and how hard he works to make sure that the members are not dissatisfied with him

Jungkook' s voice is my all time favourite voice 💜💜

One thing I admire about Jungkook and all the BTS members is that they have this amazing mindset, like they always feel they are on the learning curve, there is so much to learn to improve and this made them humble and always working harder..I always say this to my staff even the senior staff, once you become cocky and think you are already there you know everything you won't go far, but if you have the mind set that you are always on the learning curve then you will always improve. Like I may have lots of design experience but it's fascinating that sometimes I pick up things and learn something new from the junior staff as well.

He give advice to other Vocalist, and he is the youngest. 👏

I hope reactors will more appreciate Jk's talent. Like Sammy, he always mistake jk's vocal or hignotes to other members and i get really sad that these reactors underappreciated JK

I feel the same mate. It makes me sad because in truth untold part, the one holding out the note was JK yet many didn't notice that. I do hope that from now on reactors and army's in general will pay more attention. Mexinese family does it quite well - they try to listen to the background vocals as well and know that Jungkook harmonizes with everyone etc. One of them has JK as their bias too :)

I have seen one reactor who was reacting on dedang she bluntly overlooked his rapping part and saying some ££££££ did great rapping he did ok not rap like RM or jk ....and we all know dedang rapper jk is trending worldwide she always appreciate each and every member and never said a word of appreciation to jk ...I have never seen such reactor who totally neglect one member....

You know what, I'm just nodding the entire video, just agreeing to what you have been saying Sam. Jungkook truly deserves this. I mean the recognition. His hard work. I'm gonna cry.

artists have to record a guide version in order to record the official track. so when they record the official track they have to sing it the same way as the guide version. thats why namjoon often plays his guide versions to some songs, he once played serendipity guide which was sung by him.

The reason Jimin's voice still sounds so good at 22:14 is actually _because_ of Jungkook. If Jimin had been singing alone, he would have had to force his voice to achieve the same level of space-filling and resonance that he normally does, but because Jungkook was singing with him, he could hold back without losing any of the performance's power. This is also why BTS use backing tracks when they perform; it's extremely difficult to maintain the tone and power you need to fill a huge performance stage when you're singing for two hours and dancing at the same time, so the backing tracks are there to support them. BTS uses them well by actually using their backing tracks as support rather than covering up the live performances, and it's why sometimes when BTS stops singing on stage, you can hear the voice "continue" but much more faintly. In the case of the concert where JM was sick, he was basically asking JK to put an extra layer of backing vocals up for him so that he wouldn't hurt himself and/or have his voice break on stage when he was struggling. It works so well because (1) JK is their usual backing vocalist, so ARMYs are used to hearing him in the back of BTS's tracks; and (2) because JK has a chameleon voice that naturally blends well with other people (but especially well with the people he sings the most with).

jungkook does a lot of background vocals in bts and if you listen carefully you'll prolly hear his voice in the entire song

some of the clips in here are from Burn the Stage. If you haven't already , I highly recommend you watch it. It's a documentary series from the WIngs tour , and there's a movie as well. Both are KZread Premium so if you react to it, you'll probably have to put it on Patreon.
