It just shows how much daemon loves rhaenyra.. he accepts her boys like they are his sons. This scene is so interesting because more often than not throughout S1 Daemon is NOT the voice of reason. He's a hothead, protective of his family and pride, and he escalates quickly when angered. Scenes like this or taking off Vaemond's head where he is calm, collected, assertive, and likely still VERY angry in contrast with a young overconfident Aemond who wears his emotions on his sleeve really highlight why their story ends the way it does. They seem much alike but the ways they differ are much more interesting to me

I think he sees in Aemond the "Maegor" parts of himself others saw in him when he was younger that he has learned to hone into slightly better, more effective characteristics and seeing them raw and unrefined like that just irritates him. He also has a better understanding of what those negative aspects can cause and sees those things coming, but at this point I think he's moreso mourning his near-dead brother and relationship with him and so the family "drama" just annoys him. After what happens at the end of the season though we see more of the old Daemon. The silent, ambiguous threats behind his eyes here start becoming concrete actions after Jace's death and we see again how far he's willing to go to avenge those he loves. It ain't pretty.

Daemon looked like he was enjoying every second of it.

Daemon already showed his ruthlessness the first time the kids were called bastards...everyone knows he don't fuck around...even with family.

She gets burned in the fight and is held prisoner for a while but I think in the end she marries and swears her baby will be named Laena after her mom. But in the book she's fierce, a bit of a tomboy they say but she just loves battle. I don't remember much of her late years, but I loved the part where she fights

To be fair, Aemond's not an idiot, a fight between those 2 at that moment wouldn't have been good. If either gets injured or dies then it's game on Fighting Luke and Jace is a Game, Daemon is the real deal so it's not something to take lightly.

@@neloangelo7297 yea Daemon is much older in comparison to the others, however by his appearance he still seems to be well with in the age to fight/kick some ass effectively, and Daemon has one thing that Aemond can not beat/compete with just strength, his younger age or anything of the sort, and that is Deamon’s experience, sure Aemond in rather skilled and has been training for quite some time, but nothing can really beat combat experience that is gained in the field of battle. This can only be beaten or matched with greater or equal experience in the battlefield, something that Aemond has had no such involvement as far as im aware and if he has, probably not as extensive as that of Daemon.

One of his nephews even laughed when it was placed down infront of Aemon. pair the insult with the pain of the past bullying he endured and lost eye and it's easy to understand why Aemon was angry and did what he did. In fact, it seems completely justifiable given those many insults.

You mean if she wasn't forced to marry a gay dude that literally couldn't get her pregnant?🤣 It also wouldn't have happened if alicent accepted her request to marry her daughter and rhaneryas son, which should've taken all doubts away that she would've had her kids killed, basically if alicent was able to put her ego aside the Targaryens probably would've still been ruling in game of thrones, no character in this show is completely innocent
