Interesting Trivia:"Carol" was a reference to Carol Klein, Sedaka's ex-girlfriend from high school and a fellow songwriter at the Brill Building. She had since married Gerry Goffin, who took the tune, and wrote the playful response "Oh! Neil", which she recorded and released as an unsuccessful single the same year (1958) under the stage name Carole King

And to be clear, even though Carole’s response was not as successful as Oh Carol, she was one of the most successful singer-songwriters of the 20th century, crafting hit songs for multiple artists. Her own album Tapestry is widely considered a masterpiece.

I like your warm, intimate style and I'm glad you like the music of this period. Neil was one of the best of the 'Brill Building' singer-songwriters. But the music is not live - he's miming to his own record. His 'gay' dance moves with that goofy grin crack me up. I used to teach English to a sweet Japanese grandmother who loved this song. My fantasy was to sing it to her in karaoke in front of her husband, on bended knee for the spoken interlude. 'Oh Kayako'.

Neil was next to Paul Anka the Kings of Teen Angst. Carole King would be a superstar in her own right who was next to Ellie Greenwich (RIP) the first successful Female Songwriters in Music. She's written a veritable List of Hits. One Fine Day (The Chiffons), Will You Still Love Me Me Tomorrow (The Shirelles who made history by being the first Girlband to go to Number One). Up On The Roof By The Drifters and I'm Into Something Good originally by The Exciters but was a bigger hit for Herman's Hermits during the "Original" British Invasion. If you can check out Calendar Girl.
