    He kept complaining about the fire code and threatening to send the violations to the marshall; the only reason those door windows are there are so in case of an emergency, the window can be broken and used to open the door from the handle on the other side. Blocking the view with paper is completely irrelevant, and creating privacy instead of limiting rights is exactly what people should do in that situation

  • @seancatherall31

    @seancatherall31

    It may be against facility policy, but it is not against the fire code to cover windows. The windows are not required by code. I speak as an architect with 30 years of experience, who trains other architects and who frequently explains to building officials how to interpret the building code and the fire code. Also: reinforced glass (wire glass, it was called) was declared a hazard by almost all jurisdictions in North America over 20 years ago. It is particularly hazardous when used in doors--it tends to cause serious injury when a panicked building occupant attempts to open a door and hits the window instead of the door leaf. (Tempered glass resists breakage and crumbles into harmless shards when strained beyond its limitations; wire glass gives a little bit and shreds flesh that passes through it.) Instead of 20th century wire glass, we now use 21st century fire-rated glazing in fire-rated doors and windows. It is a transparent ceramic material that is stronger than tempered glass. It prevents the passage of smoke and heated gasses for the time period over which the door or wall is intended to protect building occupants before succumbing to the heat of the fire--usually one to two hours.

  • @cherissemcconnell8932

    @cherissemcconnell8932

    9 ай бұрын

    Sorry in advance for the length. The point of wired glass, with wire mesh inlaid in the glass is to prevent it from shattering and breaking out under stress or when exposed to high temperatures. With the window intact, the glass keeps the fire at bay, protecting those on the other side from the harmful effects of smoke and flame. Public areas such as schools, public buildings, and businesses, use these doors in buildings that provide escape routes in case of fire. Windows in stairwells and in hallways that lead to emergency exits are prime examples of areas where fire rated wire glass is often used. All that being said, there are newer safer versions of this type of glass being used now to prevent injuries due to shattered glass. We can go on and on about that subject. BAT mentioned it being against fire regulations when someone covers that window to provide privacy. He is correct. That window is to be free from obstruction because it is a door that leads to a fire exit. Let’s assume all these publicly accessible buildings are fire code compliant. That would mean that all the doors inside, when closed, are sealed tight to create a barrier. When it comes to fires, a closed door is helpful in depriving oxygen preventing or slowing down the spread. The door with window is a visual aid to that tells you that past that door is your escape, a fire exit. All the solid closure doors do not allow you the visual if there is smoke and fire beyond the door. Obviously you would want to find a different route if you see the flames on the other side. And again you wouldn’t want to open that door to add oxygen given new life to a fire. Especially if it is a passcode protected entry, that window needs to remain obstructed for visuals in and out to help preserve life. BAT is correct. Small window has an actual purpose and if you want to have things private, move them away from that area.

    @@cherissemcconnell8932, it is incorrect to say that it is against state fire regulations or model fire code to cover the lite (window) in a door, including in fire-rated doors. It may or may not be against the facility's policy. I am an expert in building codes and fire codes. Each room is required to have a fire exit sign, where exit signs are required. Since the door is not required to have a lite (window) in the first place, it is not obstructing the view of a fire exit sign to cover the lite (window). In addition, most non-residential occupancies are required to have fire alarm systems that tell fire fighters which areas of the building have smoke and heat alarms in alarm mode before they enter those areas. Windows into each room are not required. Restrooms, locker rooms, changing rooms, storage rooms, electrical rooms, mechanical rooms--these are examples of rooms that virtually never have windows into the interior of the building and virtually never have lites (windows) in the doors.

    @@cherissemcconnell8932 the door is only a fire door and subject to code only when the door is part of a firewall separating compartments from fire and smoke. The door has to have a fire rating. But if the door is not part of a smoke compartment and/or fire wall, it doesn't have to be smoke tight or have a fire rating or have an automatic closer to keep it closed or have it close automatically during a fire alarm.

    You should ask why BAT trashed LIA along with Here's the Deal on SJVTs live stream mocking talking down to him claiming about how he doesn't support other auditors, and thinks he is better and only does activism for clout and how he cooperated with police and took a plea deal when he was arrested (when it was his 1st audit/arrest over 3 years ago).... BAT and SJVT never apologized for slandering Sean (LIA). Thankfully Here's the Deal did apologize for believing Bay Area Transparency and San Joaquin Vally Transparency whe they made these accusations. Never heard the other 2 apologize. I think they just deleted the live and pretended it didn't happen. But I think you can still get the live from here's the deal, or I think he at least still has his original report on long island audit as well as the correction about that report, on his channel.

    Wow, when any government worker bee public servant BLOCKS an auditor's camera and STATES/ADMITS THEY ARE BLOCKING THEIR CAMERA on camera...the auditor should IMMEDIATELY ASK THEM if they have any CLUE that physically BLOCKING someone's camera when they are simply exercising their right to record in public IS BREAKING THE LAW? No public official (worker bee servant) CAN DO THAT LEGALLY...the Supreme Court has ruled doing so is akin to them PHYSICALLY TOUCHING SOMEONE for the purpose of STOPPING THEM FROM RECORDING IN PUBLIC.
