@@matteparent2468 Nah you don't know how the game software works man. He clicks a button to go into the replay immediately after the match so he can see from his opponent's perspective.

Blizzard needs to sponsor uThermal for all the people he has gotten to play SC2 again.

Btw, 2 weeks ago i finally started playing SC2 after 10 years. I was previously gold. I just hit diamond....and its all because of your vids. Thank you!!

@@pirds102010 Thats kinda just not true, the amount of masters and grandmasters slots are relatively fixed at 6000 (4.4% of population) and 400 (0.3%). With that being the case and with a shrinking player base the ability to actually get into it increases with fewer top tier players. A large amount of the accounts in the top tiers are smurf accounts of pros like ya boi Thermy that get knocked out of the rankings as soon as they stop playing on that account for a few weeks. The remaining tiers are as follows: Diamond 24.6% / Platinum 20.31% / Silver 21.8% / Bronze 8.7%. The percentage of players that are Diamond or Platinum is higher than it used to be as they changed how the distribution works with the system actively pushing people upwards from playing regularly. This is not a recent change but we are talking about 10 years ago. I may as well mention that regular masters didnt even exist at the start of WOL so you were fighting the pros for your spot in diamond because there werent separate ranks for a tier. It was all just "diamond" and then straight to GM. Of course only the people who were actually playing back then would know this... To reach diamond rank from a half decent qualifier you can hit it in literally a few matches, as Uthermal has regularly demonstrated. If you would like to show me evidence to the contrary I am happy to hear it!

The build is balanced against all races because the strength isn't based on unit/build counters, but raw numbers. The total hp and dps between the planetary and units is simply higher than theirs. If the PF splashes damage onto 1 other unit, it's equivalent to 6 extra marines worth of damage (If it doesn't splash, 3 marines. 8.5 marines if it hits 3 units). So for them to minimize damage, they also have to spread their units around the PF. The hp is equivalent to having 3.75 Thors, with +2 armor at 4 minutes. Luckily it doesn't move once created so they could sneak an expansion and avoid the PF all game, but no one thinks in the moment to instantly get a drop going with workers once they see it fly in.

Great one Mark. Love this series. I have an idea for the next series, why don’t you do wave attacks in random. where you can only attack with one type of unit per attack wave. So in one game you can start with a marine wave then a widow mine wave then a banshee wave. You keep changing the unit until victory

Planetary Rush is the revenge for cannon rush. I enjoy it so much against Protoss.

The name SaltCannon is just icing on the cake for the PF series.

I would love to see you use that hellion drop strat against high MMR protoss it looks unbeatable unless maybe blind counter with a fast immortal

I haven't noticed my opponents' units many times while playing the game. But when Marc plays I can't even notice the hellions that he sends to his opponent's natural while watching his first person view. That makes me concerned about my neurological health, but then I realize that Marc is just that fast.

Man these are so fun to watch I can only knock it for being 18 minutes.

I feel like the ideal strategy as protoss is the AoE2 strategy: just warp in pylons to block CC land locations.

Man I'm trying to decide if I like this or G2GM better! These games are great! You can tell that the PF rush is such a threat. Even if they know its coming there are just so many ways you can adjust! At the end of the day, the mind games are what ends up breaking meta. Just like in fighting games, there is something to be said about playing people against their fears.

You need a dedicated main account strictly for planetary rush and take that all the way to top 10 GM.

I would never have imagined this strategy working so well. I guess its so out of meta that that the two prong attacks just sort of dominate.

I do not understand why people leave so early against the PF rush. In the last game the PF finished, but it was in a pretty terrible spot. It could only hit shield batteries and the Nexus at the natural all while being too close to the high ground. Protoss could have camped at the top of his main base ramp, built a couple Stalkers and Phoenix to keep the Cyclones away, plopped down a Robo to start Immortals, and used the high ground advantage to clear the PF while only losing at most his natural Nexus. If uThermal tried to kill Probes at the natural, Protoss could have saved them by running them back to the main. Even if he lost the Nexus that would just put him back on even footing with uThermal who had to delay his expansion so long to rush the PF. Once the Protoss clears the PF he can retake his natural and instantly saturate with all the Probes he saved and be back to even on economy. I just don't get how these high level players see this PF rush, don't realize just how far behind uThermal is economically, and give up instantly.

this strat fits uthermal perfectly since he is an aggressive player, so he looks at his best here also, try including a liberator in the attack next time? anyone?

You can tell how good his control is going to be based on how good his splits are.

Chronos, as in Chrono Boost. It's an ability the Nexus has to speed up production of a building (up 50% for 20 seconds). It can be used to speed up unit production or research.

I suggest "discombobulate" instead of demonise. 😏
