He Developed Tunic Around His Weaknesses | The Making of Tunic

Ойындар

In today's video, we're going to explore the journey of Andrew Shouldice who is the main creator of Tunic, as well as his team and how he quit his day job as a mobile developer to pursue his passions full time. He had participated in countless indie development game jams outside of his job, and eventually had the courage to go solo with the ideas that he had in his mind for many years. We learn about Andrews weaknesses and how he didn't allow them to stop him, but rather he used his weaknesses while learning new skills to develop the highly successful 2022 indie hit, Tunic.
We'll also take a look back at earlier days in gaming and classic games that inspired Andrew like the legend of Zelda, Metroid, and super Mario brothers.

Those are super kind words, Sarah and mean so much! I'm definitely not stopping but there have just been some personal family difficulties, making it harder these past few months to finish the current video. I'm definitely pushing through though and I'm excited for your journey as an indie dev! Thanks again Sarah 🙂

thank you for this inspirational video. It is 1 year old, and its the first time i see it. I had a question maybe you could answer. At what point do you copyright to protect your work? Adding people to a developing game must be an awesome experience, but also dangerous if you have not set up protection against property theft. This anxiety is whats been holding me back and keeping my games locked up as solo projects.

Thats an excellent question, Amar and I'd assume that outside of his own savings, he received financial support from publisher, Finji early in the dev cycle. Thanks for watching!

@@hidden_characters wow that's pretty amazing, having 5 or so years worth of cash saved up to complete a passion project...I can only dream of being able to do that. It becomes harder to do something like that when you have family...plus mortgage! 😀
