This is one of those movies you don't watch only once. There are so many details I simply didn't catch before.

Her rendition of "Sway" in the Director's Cut is pure magic. Far better than the Anita Kelsey version they dubbed over her with in the Theatrical Cut.

Yeah, It made the mistake of going up against titanic and then matrix came out the next year and kind of stole it’s thunder even though it was the OG….Just released at the wrong time, otherwise I think it could’ve been incredibly popular, it deserves to be

@@jeremysiron9622 This movie was supposed to be released in 1997, but for some reason kept getting pushed back. Unfortunate that it was released in February, which is not a prime movie month. Also, despite it's trailer showing something stylish, few people knew what this movie was about. While it had good actors and recognizable names, it has almost zero star power. Did anyone know who Rufus Sewell was? Unfortunate, because this is an outstanding movie.

The style of the "strangers" is on another level. Mysterious, eerie, dark...

Mr Hand (main villain) is probably best known as Riff-Raff from cult classic Rocky Horror Picture Show (which the actor wrote), and Alex Proyas based the design of the Strangers off the look of Riff Raff. Very cool tie between the two fun films.

O'Brien kills it in this film. He was fantastic, which wouldn't have been too easy when there is such homogeny amongst the other Strangers appearances and personalities.

He didn't even have to go in for make-up. They just made all the other Strangers look like him.

I don't know if anyone has noticed this, but long after I watched this movie (I have the first-edition DVD), I started to notice the strange similarities it had with "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", starting with Doom's choice of wardrobe and his dark presence looking much like the antagonists in the movie, the (SPOILER ALERT) city-within-an-enclosed-cubicle-floating-in-space looking like something out of the 1940's, not to mention the "tune/toon" double-entendre, among other details. I expect that sometime soon I will stumble upon someone somewhere in KZread-opia who has actually done a movie mashup with these two films. (Just you wait! If I ever find one, I'll come back here to link!)

Had a poster of this film on my wall when I was 10 years old. Didn't understand it until a few years later when I watched it again, and it completely blew me away. Still love this movie to this day. What a masterpiece!

I don't wish for a sequel, but I would love if they made a book, explaining some things about the Strangers.

1:20 What I never got was when Mr. Wall was choking on the rope he got caught in, why didn’t he just levitate out of it? The Strangers can fly. It’s like he forgot he had that ability.

More classy than Matrix. More of a 30th black noir mixed with Kafka atmosphere .

I was laughing out loud when I remembered Hurt and Connelly have both been in Hulk movies (not at the same time though). As father and daughter no less!

Jason Bourne On the Dark City DVD the English subtitles say “Tune”. I’ve thought about this a lot myself. The conclusion I came to was the director wanted the word to sound ambiguous, so each person said Tune/Tuning in a slightly different way. It’s supposed to be a special word with its own uniqueness. If they clearly said Tune with the “T” sound being unquestionable, it would lose its aura of mystery. But for it to be Tune/Tuning, the meaning of the word would make sense. It’s like tuning a violin. The sound is adjusted/tuned to where the violin player wants it to be. The Strangers would adjust/tune the city to the design they wanted it to be. It’s a tricky word, so it’s all very subjective.
