Larry happened to have gotten into Magic the Gathering at the right time it seems seeing I recalled several Larry in the Holes ago him mentioning his secret love of Transformers. WELL, this past month, Hasbro and Takara announced a collaboration series of Transformers cards for Magic the Gathering and revealed thus far most of the cards in the sets. So, Larry, if you're reading this, I hope you find joy in your new adventure, and enjoy the new set too!

As someone who also just got into Magic and specifically Commander, good luck Larry! It’s so much fun to build a deck around a fun commander. The format kind of reminds me of Duelist of the Roses

My old playgroup is getting back into commander for the first time in years today actually, and we are starting a new way to play that inspired by your Rare Hunter series. We are each starting with a commander precon, and every week we each get 10 bucks allowance to upgrade the deck. The winner will get an additional 10 to add to their spending allowance. Yes! The return of one of my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh related shows on KZread! The best part is, Larry acts as the audience's proxy for any other tcgs that could be featured on the show.

I always sleeved based on the theme. Specially in MTG, Black cards get a dark sleeve of some kind and Green ones get a green. As much as I like Yu-gi-oh MTG is so much easier to play. Happy to see someone else giving it a chance.

I am actually really excited to see larry play Magic. i actually dont play yugioh i sub because i love the content and the people making it. and i cant wait to see larry play or even (highly doubt it) that Team APS did some magic content. either way super excited

I swapped over to Magic because I got tired of Yugioh and how the game "power creep". However, these guys always have really good content so I will be watching their Yugioh videos.

I just want to say thank you guys, for getting me back into Yu-Gi-Oh! after a reallyyyyy long hiatus of 11 years. Due to your stellar content, I finally broke and downloaded Master Duel and bought the newest tin, and have really enjoyed unlocking parts of my childhood that brought me long-forgotten joy. And to Larry, congratulations on getting into Magic, it's a really fun game. I personally like to stick to mono-colored decks (my main being mono-red goblins, as I love the chaos that kinda deck can bring to the table).

I'm actually interested to see Larry's thoughts on MTG after getting a bit better at it. As someone who plays both games it's really interesting to see how a player's thought process changes when looking at cards for both games due to playing both. Honestly it really makes you want to find those cards that can be really good but get overlooked.

Larry in Shuffle up and Play would be amazing! Would love to see it. Like using Dark purple inner sleeves with carbon grey outers. Gives it a nice little card highlight.

I love to hear you're getting into magic. It's because of Larry in the hole I started collecting Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh cards again. I love playing MTG and would recommend the KZread channel command zone to learn more things about MTG they are also good friends with the professor

prolly my favorite episode of larry in the hole so far

It helps to "code sleeve" your MTG cards - use a colour related to what's actually in your deck without being direct: for instance a White-Black deck having their mutual neighbour, Blue, as a sleeve. That way you can keep easier track of what's in your decks from the back without telling your opponent much. If you get sleeves with characters/logos, that can also help separate multiple decks with the same base colour balance.

I came to this channel due to it being recommended from TCC on the algo. Love this series, love that you’re getting into MTG! Keep up the great content guys.

Glad to hear you are getting into MTG Larry! As a very long time player the two are very different beasts, and it should allow you to enjoy both. For your sleeve question, all of my decks are in sleeves that represent the deck (either through a color that represents the deck's main color, or combo of colors. Or a design that matches the deck's theme). I'm rooting for you to end up on Shuffle Up & Play, and if you ever need a group to sharpen your blade against so to speak, feel free to drop by Card N All Gaming if you're in Louisville. Our group plays with multiple different power levels in Commander, and we'll certainly welcome a new (to MTG) player and run the gauntlet of strategies. Much love from a casual Yu-Gi-Oh fan, and a die hard MTG player!

To answer your question about sleeves, I use the pink Dragon Shield sleeves for Constructed/competitive Magic decks. Haven't had to decide for anything else yet.

Good, useful tip for play with anything with tokens or a Commander: use a different color sleeve than your deck if you sleeve them. It saves on accidentally shuffling cards together, especially if you have late night play when people are tired.

Colors for my sleeves, I usually go with a color that matches my deck, since I usually forget what my decks are.

For sleeves, ended up using some from a Japanese set I bought, has the OG Dark/Black Magician design on it with the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters logo on it. But use it for my main/English cards, outside of the Japanese Secret Rare Blue Eyes.

I've played a lot of vanguard and yugioh, only been to one yugioh tournament but many many many vg national and regional events, ALWAYS resleeve those cards baby, it's like good luck and on top of that the new sleeves feel for a new event in a new state is the best feeling.

For my sleeving, I sleeve my main deck in one color and my extra in a different color. I know it's not original but i feel it's better, and it makes it harder for people to steal your stuff.

So I just started getting back into MTG in the last year (I'm here because of Tolerean Community College, hope you end up on Shuffle Up and Play), and I have my decks sleeved in colors that are appropriate for the theme of the deck, like putting burn in red, dragon wall tribal in blue, necrons in bright green, stuff like that. I also have the commander for my decks in a different colored sleeve so I don't accidentally shuffle it into my deck, and that sleeve is usually gold. If there's an art sleeve that fits the theme of the deck, like if the commander is a big black dragon and Dragon Shield has a sleeve with a big black dragon (they do), then I'll use those for that deck. I'm sure there are players out there that like a specific color of sleeves and use that one for everything, but I like the variety, and if I'm going to be lending decks out then I don't want cards from one getting put in another on accident.

I've been using Dragon Shield dual matte sleeves for my commander decks. Also, pro tip: put your commander in a different color sleeve. Helps set it apart from the regular 99, so you don't accidentally shuffle it in at the end of games.

Hey my buddy Larry is now a full blown MTG gamer! Way to go and welcome to the Blind Eternities my brother. You'll have to do a Larry in the Hole MTG themed! You'll plus up more than Yugioh if you do it near set or pre-releases. ;) As for your question on what sleeves I use? Honestly, I try to use different colors to keep my commanders from blending together, used to try and sleeve all in their primary colors like blue or white but then Chulane got into Thalia and ..yeah that ended poorly. For my Strand and other B03s I usually use something in the blue-gree-red spectrum to show what it's doing but I do treat myself to seasonal Dragon Shields when making a new Commander deck or when a Standard or Modern deck gets me 4 or more wins in the same night. Draft sleeves are always some old ones that have been shuffled for years though cause the last thing you need in a draft is to have the deck fall over! XD Glad you plused up brother and it was awesome seeing Chris again!

5:00 I pick the sleeves whose color is most fitting for a given build like for my Royal Paladins & Link Joker in Vanguard I typically get white sleeves. For my Neo Nectars I use Green.

5:00 I like to play different sleeves depending on the deck

The pink dragon shields for my main deck are essential. Then I use green for my extra deck

My favorite sleeve color is Ivory, from Dragon Shield. While I use different colors for all my main decks, all my extra decks are Ivory. It makes it easy to swap extra deck cards between decks while also looking good with pretty much any other color.
