HDR 50 • BEST AMMO

Спорт

In this video we put together the 5 best (ballbearing) slugs for the HDR 50 (11 joules) that I shot and tested throughout 2022. Despite the cold day, the low power and low chrono numbers, we’re still able to have a good look at these projectiles and enjoy the fierce damage they bring upon our targets.
Featuring the top 5 slugs for the HDR 50 in this video:
- Devastators
- 9mm
- ZRam
- Deez Büllets
- JawDroppers

Your channel literarily improves with each new video that you drop. Everything from the effects, production and content is just awesome. I cant understand why your sub numbers aren't triple what they are now!! Anyone who shoots airguns for sport/fun needs to join this channel!! I'm thinking that if you keep doing what your doing, those numbers will come. I'm glad to be a part of this community!!!

Dear AA. Hi, I think you did this test on the perfect day. I'm in the UK and I'm looking to protect myself when food and resources become scarce. It's good to know 'what' is going to perform the best in less-than-ideal conditions, I can't tell an attacker: "Hey, come back when the temperature is just right so my HDR will work at peak performance." ... No. You've done the community and people like me a solid... So many channels like yours, don't take people like me, living in an increasingly hostile environment in a country where I'm not legally allowed to defend myself or own anything harmful, into consideration. So, I thank you sir!

Dude, what a great comparison test, thank you for sharing it! I've only tried the "devastators" with my HDR50 (11J), which I find quite decent (in terms of penetration, shooting plastic water bottles and aluminum cans from a distance of 10-12 feet, at 30-35 degrees C), but I'll make sure to go get a couple of boxes of Cododo 9mm bullets and try them out myself! I mean, on the basis of your test results, they must be the most suitable HDR50 ammo for home-defense that is currently available on the market. And it is no small thing, when an airgun bullet fulfils that purpose :-)

I still think the z -ram are the best munition for self defense, only need more weight. The 9mm only came out of the cans because the small projectile came out of the white capsule. The z ram is a big projectile, but i think have more penetration and damage.

  • @AirgunAlley

    @AirgunAlley

    Жыл бұрын

I agree with you! So far we haven’t seen the zram full potential. I’m sure the ballistic dummy will tell us a completely different story. The true story. The cododos also do very well. The 9mm tip is very heavy and obviously bullet shaped, so it does very well with the extra power/weight once it separates from the sabot, for better penetration. Good input, thank you!

Dear AAM it's been three days i've suscribed to your channel and all this time I got so many usufull information on airguns. Thanks a lot for your awasome content. Do you think my 30 joules modified hdr 50, which came to my hands yesterday, could penatrate both sides of the same targets using the same ammo? Greetings from Athens Greece. The tempeperature here is over 21 Celcius degrees expecting to be about 28-30 next days. Will this affect the CO2 for better perfomance? Maybe I'm asking dump questions but I'm newbe to this sport. Hi my friend and great question. In all honesty the revolvers are the guns that have jammed the least in my experience. I can’t even recall once. The only downside, and many will argue against me, is that they are not very accurate. You further you are from your target, the more you risk missing… hope this helps!

The whole thing about you getting into PCP guns I find really puzzling. I mean, you totally carved out a little niche for yourself with the CO2 guns. You can't go having a bigger niche, that can be very confounding! 😉 Those 336 grain 50 cal slugs I picked up work great in my Wing Shot II. Nice test but... your projectile speeds(fps) as well as power (fpe) is is really not very impressive. For example on devastators which weigh around 4.7 grams your first shot was only 199 fps - that is 8 joules. I upgraded my hdr 50, power kit 50,shorter pin, removed valve block, drilled the ristrictor to 1.5 mm, added longer barrel. On Co2 yellow ultraair asg I got on devastator first shot 404 fps which is around 36 joules, next shots were 29,32,29,28,25. One capsule of Co2 will last 6-8 shots depending on weather - temperature.

i always heard many years ago ,if a projectile penetrates a 1/2 inch soft pine board then it is lethal . so from 1 foot to 1000 yards , at any distance if it goes through , then its lethal !!! i shot a 1/2 inch pine board with my less than lethal HDP.50 that puts out 25.44 joules first shot and the 8.53 steel ball maybe went 1/2 way in ,no full penetration ,,,,, it was at about 8 ft . that would still cause a very nasty bruise . now if i shot a zram , it might do a little better . It shouldn't be difficult to machine a special drum so that this revolver can fire pellets and pellets smaller than 6mm and 4.5mm. This would allow for a gradual progression in strength, for self-defense situations. the first 3 shots could be the gun's original 12mm balls (rubber, polymer and aluminum), the fourth shot could be a steel ball in the 6mm casing (to pierce and bleed the aggressor); the fifth shot is a 4.5mm steel ball (to have greater piercing power) and the last shot from the weapon is a 4.5mm penetration pellet (to transfix the aggressor). It begins with traumatic and painful impacts with low lethality, and ends with piercing shots with greater lethality.

I have only use the hard plastic bullets . Shot hard metal and brick walls with them. They all came out without any damage and could be reused. Not even a scratch on them. They are the lightest, very hard, durable and inexpensive compared to the special ammo. Seeing all of your video's i can say i don't like how all these special kinds of ammo fly. They seem less accurate and don't always fly straight as far as i could see. When you shot the ballistic dummy it was pretty obvious some did not fly straight. The aluminum balls are the best imo. Light hard and better trajectory then these specialized types. The z ram are overrated imo. They look nice but seeing how they fly i don't think they are worth that much money. I will buy the aluminum balls soon and maybe the ceramics if i can find them. The rest can not persuade me, when i see them shot in different youtube videos. I make the same dents in metal plates and penetrate these water jugs and wood with the hard plastic ones. Since it is for home defense you will not be shooting in windy environments and it is used for short distances too, so there's no need for extra mass imo. In the formula to calculate the power, speed is more important than mass. Thanks for the great content! Keep on going :)
