    At least in this video they look the same. The only difference at 2:00 is that Wario is in a different spot so the camera gets lens flare. Confirmation bias is a real thing. Also worth noting that the HUD elements on the generic cable don't get bright at 2:30 which, again, suggests this is not a difference in the cable but gameplay.

    Well said and very possible. I looked over the timelines again and you’re right about the camera angle. After playing with the cables for this long and going back to the originals it is very hard to tell any difference between them. It’s our recommendation to buy these cables if you have composite, but if you already have a good set of component cables to keep those. Thanks for the great feedback, pinned!

    Yeah I’ve always struggled with deciding what the best comparison method is. There’s three common ways: - Same screen (con is both shrunk to 50%) - Full screen one after the other (con is you can’t see both at same time) - Full screen but half on one side and other half on other side (con is cant see same part of game on both sides to do direct compare)

    Something I noticed with the cheaper component cables is that when anything on the same circuit that the Wii was plugged into draws a lot of power on startup (in my case, my furnace), the image would cut out for a second. It's extremely frustrating to be in the middle of a game and randomly lose video. This hasn't happened since switching to the HD Retrovision cables.

    The colors were a little brighter on the rv cables. I have a switcher between ps2, wii and xbox all in 1 unit, and they luckily don't buzz or hiss. And they happen to look pretty good. Can't remember the brand off hand. but they come in their own retail package, so i took a shot, and they look pretty decent. im sure not as good as the hdretro cables, probably a bit dimmer, but they are close enough, probably 90%+. And close enough is typically good enough for me.

  • @oleschoolgamers

    @oleschoolgamers

    3 жыл бұрын

    Well said, with little shielding and several cables overlapping on top of each other the cables would be open to more interference. Having played with both cables for a while now I didn’t have any issues with sound using either one, but this was running on a dedicated tv so not the greatest test for the shielding either. We know HDRV cables are well shielded but the original Wii component cables I’m not sure without cutting em open.

I hear a interference noise. Direct plugged on the tv the noise does not exist. I dont know if I buy the best shielded cables (official ones or the HDRV ones) will solve the noise, or if the problem is in the switcher....Maybe I buy, test, and sell it later if I dont get the expected results.

    unless you are using unshielded crap cables, the visuals and audio is going to be negligible IMHO. HD Retrovision cables are a great option and have some of the best guys in the business putting their name on it, so if you don't have any cables I would go with them. But if you already have component cables it's probably not worth it to upgrade.

    Two parts, physical and visual. Physically, the HD Retrovision cable is the best made. Visually, the original Wii component cables should still look great and be very comparable to the HD Retrovision cables. If you’re upgrading from composite to component, get the HD Retrovision. If you already have component cables, you should be fine, the differences visually are very small.

Can you comment on the audio, and does it work well and what kind of TV are you hooking it up too now? The first one is 10ft long, had fully shielded cabling on all 5 signals, and they wrote "Heavy-Duty Double Shielding" on the cable jacket. Much better to have Component to HDMI adapters as component on it's own adds tons of lag when connected to a flat panel. Apologies to all.
