I will miss him. A true journalist

Anthony Mason was the best of CBS This Morning and though I'm glad he will be continuing at CBS News I'm sad he is leaving.

I'm always excited when I see that Anthony has a story on Sunday Morning. A true gentleman that has a smooth as butter voice that makes listening to you as easy as Sunday Morning. I'll miss seeing you everyday. All the best, Anthony.

No more CBS weekday mornings for me - Anthony was the only reason I watched it.

I started watching Charlie Rose after they canned Ann Curry on the Today show. Looks like I’m changing shows again. Anthony was the best thing on CBS. He is grounded and empathetic and the most knowledgeable person at the table. You want to replace him with a football linebacker? Ba 👋 bye

I don't believe that Anthony Mason left all on his own, loved watching his stories and just watching him on set he is intelligent, articulate and comes across as sincere. So like I said, he didn't leave by his choice. And I will cut this show from my DVR recordings, just my choice NOT to watch anymore. And I don't think the Mate was the right choice for his replacement that tells me that Gail had a part in selecting him. Goodbye CBS Mornings

Gayle King is the one who should have been axed--if the ratings don't improve with Burleson-I see all three of them (King, Dokoupil, Burleson) getting the boot

I agree! I don't know if they're trying to compete with the GMA crew or what but Nate should stick to ESPN. The morning news should have actual journalists working as anchor.

@@tipofday The rumor I've heard is that Tony Dokopuil is going to take over the CBS Evening News. The new president of CBS News has been told to cut costs and Norah O'Donnell is making $8 million/year and the ratings remain dismal. The plan is to move the newscast back to NYC from Washington and to hire Dokopuil who will come much cheaper. O"Donnell is also apparently greatly disliked by everyone who works with her (camera crew/hairstylists etc) and her contract runs out next spring and won't be renewed

This is a terrible loss and I may not continue watching CBS in the morning. He's such a class act and always put a smile on my face. CBS can't seem to make up their mind about their anchors. They pushed out Scott Pelly and Jeff Glor and now they're doing the same thing to Anthony. I get that they want to advance more women and people of color, which I'm all for but to push out great talent to advance an agenda will not fly. Nora O'Donnell and Gayle King simply aren't in the same league. It's no wonder that CBS has trails in the news ratings. Looks like it's back to GMA. You will be missed Anthony.

@@candicekellyhomes I have absolutely no use for ABC's Robin Roberts--that disgusting interview she did with Jesse Smollet was disgraceful ("You go...Jesse")--I'd rather watch the BBC-just unbiased news-no dopey personalities like Roberts/Gayle King/or those 2 idiots (Hoda Kotb/Savanah Gutherie) to have to deal with

Anthony Mason adds such intelligence, depth, and decency to any program he is on. In some ways he did not fit on the weekday CBS morning show, which tends to the superficial, pushes "news" about billionaires, and favors feel good stories over depth. I hope that Anthony will bring us more of the cultural reporting that he's so good at!

Anthony, you are a total favorite of mine! I’ve been following you since you were on CBS This Morning Saturday. You will be missed.

I love all his stories. Hope he stays close.

I will miss Anthony. He held "weight on the ticket" while providing such gravitas. I work in the performing arts and was able to meet Anthony at an incredible event, Singers and Songwriters Hall of Fame 2019, and he was such a nice, charming and genuine person. I am so happy he continues with CBS, but I will miss him in the morning for sure!

Anthony will be missed!

NEVER will happen, even with her leading Morning News into LAST place and keeping it there she is Oprah's BFF and they can't take that chance of feeling Oprah's "wrath" if they got rid of her. How do you think Gail got the job to begin with? It's like keeping your worse sales person who is the same person year after year after year. There has to be a reason for not firing them. It won't be because of their great sales ability :)

@@trvman1 completely agree-I have always believed that it was Oprah's influence that got King her job--and King still plugs Oprah's "book club" and other ventures--the morning show remains mired in 3rd place--if this new set/addition of Burelson doesn't change things than King could be dumped even with Oprah's influence

I will miss seeing you everyday but so look forward to seeing your segments in the future!

I always look forward to Anthonys' interviews with singers and musicians.. He clearly loves music and musicians and it shows.

Thanks Anthony Mason! I hope this was voluntary?!?! 😬 I was a fan of yours throughout CBS Saturdays and CBS This Morning and I will miss you. In the USA it has not been uncommon for me (a middle-aged white man) to hear an older-aged white man make a dis-respectful comment towards a person of color or towards a woman for no good reason (cringe). To me (and I believe many others) you have served as a role model by showing such a genuine respect towards everyone and everyone has shown a genuine respect towards you. That (in my opinion) is the reason that people have opened up to you and will continue to do so. You've helped make the world a better place Sir. Take care, see you soon, and best of luck in your future endeavours 🙋‍♂️

CBS This Morning loses another fantastic journalist thanks to Gayle King. And the saddest part of all was watching Anthony Mason and Tony (he’s so boring I don’t even know his last name) kiss up to her by trashing the RF alongside her every single morning in a desperate attempt to hold onto their jobs. Sad.

Yes,Anthony Mason is that good. His knowledge of the music world is fantastic. Looking forward for more music news from Anthony.

After Anthony Mason left I can't help but feel that he exited not under the best of terms, I love Anthony and can not continue to watch CBS this morning. I cut them from my morning routine.

I miss Anthony, he and Jeff Glor along w/ Tony are my favorites as they present and carry that professional, gentlemanly way of news delivery...

This is the CBS News version. Now what is Page Six's version?

CBS had a great team going. Nothing against Nate, but they shouldn’t have messed with CBS mornings. They needn’t have changed a thing - missing Anthony and hope to see his pieces regularly on the air.

I was worried that maybe he didn’t weigh every word and cater to Gail King sufficiently. I think they should rename the show the Gail King Show!

Jeez ! I did not know he was leaving the tone of the show will definitely be different, he is very knowledgeable and added a somber old fashion down to earth approach to news worthy events. The insightful, intuitive and joyful curiosity in his interviews were as comfortable as Sunday morning brunch around the breakfast table no pushing or teeth pulling just friendly banter between old friends even when the questions were 95 mph. hard fast balls. I believe he had an earnesst compassion for those he interviewed. His non-threatening approach would ease you out of your shoes, allow your feet to grasp the grass between their toes. His range of musicology is boundless ! I will miss your face in the mornings I salute you !!!

they have to keep juggling the anchors--they remain in 3rd place and this change from Mason to Burleson isn't going to change that--in fact I see the ratings sinking even more

Gayle King is way overrated. She uses her relationship with Oprah to draw attention to herself. Unfortunately, Oprah isn't that relevant any longer and neither is Gayle.

You and most people. She FAILED big time with her own show and she has failed at CBS. CBS could do a poll question, "Would you like to see Gail King replaced on Morning News?" 70% of people could say, "yes" and she would still keep her job.

Memory flashback. Remember when Matt Lauer tried to show how "sad" he was Anne Curry was leaving when he was the one pushing to get rid of her. Just replace Gail as Matt Lauer and Anthony Mason as Anne Curry and you probably have the same situation.

I always remember when the CBS Morning show had Harry Smith/Maggie Rodriquez/Dave Price (weatherman)--the ratings were actually starting to improve then these morons at CBS changed everything again---I loved Maggie Rodriquez--professional/very personable--I believe she is anchoring in Tampa Bay now

And it happened. It’s now the, “Look at me I’m Gayle King show.” Even the theme sucks. The CTM theme was bright, cheerful, has a good beat and set the mood for the day. Ba da ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba puke. Thankfully there’s a local Fox station that runs morning news. This move means I no longer have to watch the CBS Sinclair station for anything now.

I was very fond of Jeff Glor--that Norah O'Donnell sucked up to management to undermine him and to take over being anchor of the CBS Evening News

I'm late to this news because I haven't been able to watch the last few months. I thought the show had finally found its stride again with Gayle, Tony and Anthony. It's too bad Anthony has been pushed out for a NFL player. Good luck, Anthony. Tony, find a new gig. Poor Vlad. So much for journalistic integrity. Bye, CBS. Bye, Gayle.

So ridiculous that all CBS could do is show silly stories and not the true journalistic style I appreciate from him. I used to like Gail until she continued to put her oar in the water constantly giving her opinion. What happened to giving just the news and let us decide how we feel. Anthony is moving on and so am I. Not that CBS will care, but they lost me.

They lost me too. And I have been a faithful viewer since 2014. Can’t stand the constant interruptions and talking over others that Miss King does constantly

What a shame. I guess Anthony was too old and too white. BBC News here I come....

Women in charge of news at CBS. "Let's get rid of the white guy, Gail wants a young black guy she can get all hot over". Pretty much how it worked. I am no longer a viewer. Won't watch any of the news show.

why should the CBS executive cow-tow to King--when Charlie Rose was fired in 2017 the ratings fell 10% and didn't recover--they should realize that its King that dragging down the ratings

They brought in another younger minority, get rid of Gayle King, she’s awful.

Anthony is a legend journalist. He wanted to tell his stories. Gale had nothing to do with this. Anthony isn't gone. They made a good choice with the other journalist giving people a chance. 😉

The only Gayle King is on CBS is because Oprah got her on the show, she is just so awful……

It shows who wears the pants on the show, & it’s not the men; but GKing ! I miss Anthony Mason… I’ve stopped watching this show.
