The whole episode was quite hilarious. Good sketches combined with Pedro Pascal’s laid back, cool and humorous talent. But yes, this “Mario” trailer production was exceptionally good (and too funny too).

Yep, without a doubt the best detail.

This nails the vibe of a high-budget There Will Be Brawl sequel.

It is amazing that they actually turned this out in three days. The team gets the script late Wednesday night and the pre-production begins. Everything is shot on Friday. Post production/FX is all done on Saturday. My son, Mike Diva, was the director. Even though SNL has a brilliant FX dept. the FX were so intense that he had to call in other folks to lend a hand, some of them from the Corridor Digital team.

This has some mad 2000s/ early 2010s KZread sketch channel energy to it. I love it

Working conditions in the VFX industry are harsh as studios are working to prevent that part to organise. That's part of the reason why they can afford to make an amazing piece like this for SNL. Also, this is of course orders of magnitude cheaper than the "real" VFX that goes into cinematic projects, because the subtle honing of fine details is what makes it real hard, and stuff like this is always a bit rough on the edges.

I cannot stress how much fun this movie would be

The Ending where Mario said "Here we Go!", before driving off to the sunset still gives me chills to this day

The part about the cloud guy using a fishing pole to put you back on the track had me bawling. This was so well done.

The Toad death scene was absolutely incredible!!.. Seriously bravo to the writers!!!.. " No its red"..Also the fact Luigi was at the haunted mansion. The whole thing is genius, and I want a whole movie exactly like this!!!

There would be accuracy if they shout out banana blocking or item blocking. Essentially if you have an item you can hold the throw button to dangle it behind you while driving and this blocks red shells

In addition to the other great elements here, kudos for including "dramatic" versions of the video game music and themes (especially over the "it's a-me, Mario") "It makes me feel BIG, okay?!"

@@Hawk7886 Key and Peele were doing it this way for years... and the skit was OK. It wasn't funny. It was just kinda pleasant to see. A sort of, "ah, okay" reaction. The FX team truly deserve all the credit. But also, applauding them openly like OP is pretty high school musical of him. What an asshole. Lol jkjk
