The guy just always looks a little sad. He’s a brilliant actor but you know he took all the hate to heart. When he talks about this new series he seems to not be getting too excited about it probably due to the history. We were too young to understand the older fans hated the prequels at the time us kids all loved it including the dreaded jarjar we didn't have the internet telling us how bad everything was as well, it was a movie with lightsabers that's all that really mattered. As an adult I can appreciate the overall story now as an echo of Aristotle's and others theory's on the nature of democracy and it's inevitable failings and outcomes.

You know, there's definitely some things Disney can do better with both the MCU and Star Wars but there's some people working inside both that I really trust and have appreciated like Dave Filoni. I don't think this series would be a thing without the extensive groundwork he put in.

People don’t realize too that look at the script he had. The script was terrible. Even Mark Hamill said it was bad in the first movie but they were able to change it to be better. There are clips of mark saying something like “we would tie George up and make him read his scripts at gun point”. Hayden did the best he could with the bad script

The sequels feel like a soulless cashgrab which doesnt even add anything to the star wars universe, they brought back palpy just to kill him for example, the prequels added so much interesting stuff to star wars. If the sequels were anyway unique i could learn to like them but i dont see how anyone could appreciate them besides kylo ren who tbf is a pretty good character

I'm glad that the hate he got in the past didn't ruin his love for the franchise. Hearing about how he literally watched through all of Clone Wars and Rebels to get caught up on where Anakin was at that point just really made me appreciate how much he really cares about this character. Still makes me sad it took this long for him to feel appreciated by all the fans, though.

Yeah it's unfortunate that star wars fandom is so fucking toxic, elitists and speaks HELLA loud (even though they're not even a majority from what i know). I know george's dialogues can be a bit funny at times but at least they're entertaining. The hate was really unwarranted bruh like those people are just embracing negative nancyness to the T over petty reasons. In fact NO movies and especially actors deserve that kind of treatment cuz each one of those movies must be entertaining in their own ways, and the actors are just doing their job.

He got the hate because he personified the controversial decisions George Lucas made, to deconstruct the power fantasy that Darth Vader represented to many fans and tell a psychologically realistic story in a fantasy style, of trauma and weakness that led a good person to lose everything by choosing power over love.

Probably will never see this, but ... Hayden, we love you. You are Anakin Skywalker and a major part of the Star Wars universe. Some of us always thought this way. Glad you are back and can't wait to see the new series.

Remember Hayden’s struggle, but also never forget Ahmed Best and Jake Lloyd. These guys had their lives almost (literally) destroyed because of the hatred. Patience is indeed the moral of the story. It’s fantastic that after all this time, the hate turns into appreciation and in some cases even the reboot of a career. Thanks Disney, but also thank you Hayden. Seems like such a nice guy and can’t wait to see him acting as Vader.

The Star Wars franchise is the most toxic. They hated Hayden, Ahmed and Jake back in the day to a certain point that it ruined their lives, as you said. And more recently they threw shit at Kelly Marie Tran, the actress that protrayed Rose Tico, many fans threw a lot of senseless hate towards her only because they didn't like her character or her development

It pisses me off that people can go and ruin someone’s life because they cannot tell the difference between bad writing and bad acting.

I was a kid at the time when episodes 1-3 were released, and I absolutely loved all three movies to bits, and still do, even if some of the dialogue in them isn't the best. Hayden did such an amazing job portraying a young man who never had the necessary father figure or the familial support that a person needs to grow up right. And especially if you pay attention to how everyone else treats Anakin in those movies all of his behaviours make complete sense: Obi-Wan basically does nothing but lecture and criticise, the jedi council don't want him in the order in the first place, and then treat him with mistrust all his life. And you can really see the damage, the frustration and the internal conflict Anakin has all the time in Hayden's performance. I'm thrilled to have him back! I know he can bring some real depth to Vader too, and not just be the intimidating bad guy who barely says a word.

See I had a very similar experience but with the sequels so I can acknowledge that they weren’t the greatest made films but I can still appreciate the enjoyment I will always get from them

I'm 40, and I've always liked Hayden. He did the job he was supposed to do, make Anakin completely unlikable. He didn't deserve any of the hate he received back in the day. I'm really glad he's back as Vader.

Man, I have been loving the fact that we get to see Hayden back in these interviews and seeing him get the appreciation he deserved all along.

I didn't even care that much about the dialogue and direction, the original trilogy was just the same way. Star Wars was always over the top, it is a space opera after all. The lines aren't really meant to be something that your average joe would say in day to day life.

@@babyjiren9676 Not in the same way. For example, compare Han and Leia's dialogue with Anakin and Padme's. Harrison Ford, Alec Guiness, and others told Lucas to shove it or modified their dialogue on the spot. There was also a lot of editing and directing that made significant changes. The prequels had a lot less revision and a lot more direct creative control by Lucas, for better or worse.

Yeah attack of the clones is actually one of my favorites. It typically gets hate for the love scenes. But I actually didn't mind them, plus Padme was smokin.

If Hayden reads this comment - you did a fantastic job acting out the pure emotion and hatred towards Obiwan when your character was chopped to bits and burning in lava. That was some intense acting dude... Well done!

He seems like such a cool, down to earth guy. I'm really glad he's back (and I'm from the original trilogy generation btw). I hope this (and his part in the Ashoka series) won't be the last time we see him. Bring on a live-action Clone Wars series starring Hayden and Ewan!

The amount of times I have actually watched Revenge of the Sith would be well over 30 to 40 times. Maybe more. I don't think I've watched a movie as much as that one in my whole entire life. I loved the prequels! It was essentially my childhood. Very, very excited for these guys and hope the fans love it and these guys get the credit they deserve after all this time!

Episode 3 Anakin is one of my favorate and best played characters in ALL OF CINEMA to me.

I’d L-O-V-E to see him on a “What If” spinoff where he didn’t turn on Mace, but also doesn’t stick around to fight the Republic’s battles. It would be great to see him raising his family on a backwater planet until the Rebellion kicked off.

It’s really hard to know what would happen. Palps set a lot of things in motion before Order 66, so there’s a good chance that the Republic wouldn’t have survived. This is such a huge and fleshed out universe that there is a ton of room for alternate history-type stories.

All I can say is: it's about time! I never felt that the "problems" with Mr. Christensen's performance were his fault. I think he did brilliantly with the direction he was given...now it's time to sit back and enjoy the expansion of his story.

So happy he’s back! I always liked him, especially in ep. III! This just feels right!

I will never in my life forget the feeling and experience I had watching Attack of the Clones opening night at 8 years old. I still get goosebumps thinking back. I'm grateful that he's back

When a section of the fandom bullied the actress who plays Rose Tico, Hayden was asked whether he had any advice for her. He said that those who engage in such behaviour make the most noise, but are in the minority; that the majority do not feel that way. I sense he has always known that the fans appreciated him, but I do not imagine it must have been easy for him to merely ignore the 'loudness' of that minority.

I was 5 years old when revenge of the sith came out, I was mind blown then absolutely loved it and never stopped, the hate the prequels got was insane to me even when i was that young me and my dad couldn’t understand it. So glad he is now getting recognised for his amazing work bringing anakin to life

It took a while for everyone to appreciate the prequels but I believe they were misunderstood masterpieces .

If only George let others help him on the script, the prequels could have been better then the original trilogy. They had promise but are still good to me at least

@@bodaciousskies, yeah. They definitely could've been much better, but for what we got, they were pretty damn good (Same goes for quite a bit of Star Wars media todays, like Mandalorian, BOBF, Rogue One, etc.).

@@wwb16 Personally, I do not see that happening. The section of the fandom hating on the prequels was too puerile, too philistine to understand the worldbuilding and Palpatine's manipulation to genuinely appreciate _The Phantom Menace,_ and in other movies, chose to feel disproportionately offended at the only very occasional instance of ropey dialogue. The sequels, on the other hand, were genuinely vacuous.

Im 19 now and throughout my life Star wars has been a constant hobby and source of passion. I loved the prequels and to see Haydon and Ewan come back is so invigorating for me.

I'm 22 now. I'm a 2000 baby I was so young when I first saw star wars. Star wars is such a big part of my life. Anakin pretty much change my life. We the children back then always loved you and we will do our best to welcome you !

Hayden never deserved the hate he received. As a 22 year old, The prequels were my childhood and Anakin was my favorite character, he was the main reason I got into Star Wars. Hayden’s return brings a tear to my eye, I’m glad he’s back. Can’t wait for the show!

Really great to see everyone showing love. Very heart warming to see the support for sure. It’s always inspiring to me in a world so conflicted to see so many people give kind words and encouragement. Here’s to a better future in a galaxy not so far away.

Star wars fans is what ruined his life, I am prequel fan, not someone who trashtalks hayden like you

he means so much to me and I'm so happy he's finally getting the love he deserves after so long. After 15 years too, he really didn't deserve all that hate :((
