More rare footage of Peabody's Bucyrus-Erie 2570w at the Hawthorn Mine in Sullivan County, Indiana in July 1996. Footage includes an oiler greasing the mast sheaves, close ups of a routine inspection and the machine walking, and both day time and night time digging with a 100 cubic yard bucket on it's 360 foot long boom. Special thanks to the former operators that made this series possible!

Gary seems like the nicest man you could ever meet
I am glad you have added another video of the old Hawthorn Mine. Being From Vigo County and having my grandfather haul coal from this mine and all the others around Vigo and Sullivan Co. Thank You!!
Being up close to it during operation probably wouldnt be possible now with all the safety regs. Wide angle stationary camera`s etc just doesnt give any idea about the size of this dragline. All of which makes this footage quite invaluable actually, thanks for uploading and sharing!
Fantastic old school footage - cheers
Very cool footage. Would have loved to see the rest of the process. As someone modelling the Indiana Southern Railroad which ran up to this very mine, this footage is fascinating.
Nice dragline footage!
