    @@Jake-oc3vx the Hawaiians have adopted the haka. I don't know why. The haka is done to honour the god Tū-mata-uenga. I'm Māori. We also do things during it no other Polynesians do for theirs such as the pukana (sticking out ones tongue). Again the Hawaiians have adopted this. I have no idea why since to my knowledge they don't worship Tū-mata-uenga like we do. They worship Tangaloa.

    @@theone-n-only47 then they can do the Ai'ha'a. It doesn't matter bc most of us non-Polynesian people will still end up calling it the Haka. I don't see as much salt from Ghanaians when a Nigerian does the Azonto dance. In the end we are all West Africans. So why is it like this with Polynesians?

  • @scootergrant8683

    @scootergrant8683

    That wouldn't work. The Ai'ha'a or Haka or whatever the nation calls their dance is unique (even though some phrases are very similar)to them and should be respected for what it is worth and not just a 'show off thing' for other regions that aren't even associated to use.

  • @armenhaigazuni1999

    Wouldn't be a "show off thing" but rather a great way to promote and protect their native culture. Once something like that gains that much (positive) public visibility, it's almost impossible it'll die out anytime soon.

    Hi I’m from Hawaii! This is a War Chant. We used this to fear the opponent and to challenge them most people know this as Haka dances. There not only in Maori culture but also in Hawaiian we use them in Tahitian dances. This is not to hype them up this is a challenge to the opposite team. This is our culture and I hope you appreciate it☺️☺️Mostly Polynesians use Warrior Chants and Haka dances. I’m Polynesian and Native American and I’m proud♥️🌺

    Not everyone in Hawaii is Polynesian though. If I'm correct, most people in modern day Hawaii actually aren't Polynesian at all, and they probably live near europeanized beaches. Which means they wouldn't know the difference between the haka, Siva tau, and ai'ha'a. I'm not Polynesian, I'm African; so if I spelled anything wrong, forgive me.
