    When I first heard this song, I was a bit underwhelmed. AT FIRST. But after listening probably 20 or 30 times, it's one of my personal favorite Havok tracks. The song writing is really great. It's progressive enough to satisfy fans of prog music, thrashy enough to fill that void, and all around just a really fucking cool song. This band is the tits.

    Justyn Fogarty I would absolutely in no way consider this "tech death" dude... like, go sit in the corner... you want tech death? listen to some decapitated or some arkaik or some origin & then look at this comment again & think really hard about what you said...

    Im talking tech death like symbolic. Not like any of that or like obscura or anything. Its technical, and it has death metal vocals and riffs... In your case, I ask you: what is "thrashy" about this song? Just because a band is classified as thrash doesnt mean EVERY song they produce has to be individually classified as thrash.

  • @jodane8424

    @jodane8424

    7 жыл бұрын

    Justyn Fogarty sounds like the same vocals Dave has always done since thrash can & pwn em all, to me. & it definitely sounds more like thrash in the vein of king diamond & 90s testament to me than any kind of death metal. people have this misconception that thrash can't be heavy or something...? the lyrical content is in no way death metal related, for one. for 2, thrash can be heavy as fuck & sing about Satan if it wants... that don't mean that slayer & testament & king diamond are death metal. but, point being: if thrash bands are delving into dark lyrics about the occult & the fucked up human psyche & can still remain thrash bands, I fail to see how havok, who has always had political content in their lyrics & the most "brutal" song they ever wrote was "from the cradle to the grave" (about H.H. Holmes), even comes close to touching the death metal realm when their sound & lyrical content doesn't even come close to as dark or creepy as previous bands I mentioned, who are all still considered thrash bands, through & through.

  • @justynfogarty6209

    @justynfogarty6209

    Genre has nothing to do with lyrics. Yes a lot of death metal bands actually sing about death itself, however none of the songs on Symbolic or Sound of Perseverance are strictly about "death" itself. They are more politically and philosophically charged, like this song. I've always thought of Havok being a cross between thrash and death. They are inspired by both genres (ask the members themselves). Also Dave's vox have changed a lot, especially between Burn and Time is Up. His vocals went from yelling to his signature high pitched scream. Screaming has been a key factor in ALL death metal bands. Yelling was always a key factor in ALL thrash bands. Whatever genre you wanna call this song specifically, who gives a fuck. It rips.

  • @jodane8424

    @jodane8424

    Justyn Fogarty i agree that it rips. I never said it didn't. again, refer to your first comment, then my first reply. my only point is that this is NOT tech death, bruh.

    “‘Conformicide’ is our most dynamic, heavy, thoughtful, musical, and sonically-crushing album so far. All four members feel that this is the best Havok album to date. There are a lot of “truth bombs” being dropped on this record and the music absolutely rips!” David Sanchez (Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar) "This album swings for the fences in every way. Sonically stunning, technically proficient and lyrically pissed, we've never been represented at our best until this moment in time. We cannot wait for the world to react to Conformicide." Reece Scruggs (Lead Guitar) Two pre-release songs in and...reeeeaaallly?!

    Reminds me a lot of Death. The solo is too good! People keep complaining that it sounds progressive but I wouldn't want a full on thrash album , it would get boring so I'm glad this song is on the album. I feel it will be favorite, I guess I just gotta wait for the rest of the album!

    1984 is the best book ever. I wouldn't be scared to say it changed my life. Animal farm is also great, but a bit overrated. But George Orwell was fucking genius. I read some posts about liking George Orwell on David Sanchez's instagram but putting Orwell themes in their music is absolutely genius. First band I know to ever do this (if you know any other feel free to recommend) and I absolutely love that shit. I think 1984 and Animal Farm are books everyone should read.
