The ladders are there to prevent snow dropping down on the people walking by. They are called "Schneefanggitter".

the idea behind it is that snow only gathers above it and the fact that it's a grill allows snow to melt through it. Oh, it's normally done for roofs with a slope of up to 60 degrees, roofs that are steeper than 60 degrees do not gather snow (theoretically, might be different in areas with high snowfall)

The reason I really love to watch these videos is, that as a German, you sometimes really forget how beautiful and nice your country is. But then you have Americans who visit Germany and they point out all the things you don't see anymore, and you realise what you've actually got. So awesome!

No doubt on their health conditions. My commend was more about the fact that regarding the population, more Americans have overweight than Germans and American food is tested to have more sugar in general than stuff in Germany/ Europe. But, to be fair, there is a change in American food consumption (as well in Europe) as reported by the German _Handelsblatt_ from 05-06-2017.

This is so funny to look at. You're walking through an average street and you're amazed by the most generic buildings there. It's really nice to see your first time reactions. In case you planed to visit Heidelberg (which you really should) just message me if you want. I can show you around, and if there's time show you the neighboring cities of Ladenburg and Weinheim, which you'll both find amazing!

I love watching videos like that as a German. :) It helps me seeing my country with different eyes again. For Germans all of what you are showing in your videos is just normal and I guess we sometimes forget that we live in a beautiful country. And of course I am happy to see that you guys had so much fun in this video and the other ones. :) And, I have to admit, it makes me a little proud.

Love your channel & that you're trying to speak German. It actually is really helpful. I'd like to try & pick it up someday myself. And I love your message at the end. It is so true. Negative thoughts & comparisons really drag you down to a bad place. Being around others who are negative will have an effect. I've seen & felt it firsthand. Anytime I'm feeling down, I just pray & thank God for all the blessings I have, which tbh are a lot. And looking back, anytime I've ever really needed something, God provided. And not just provided, but I learned a life lesson along the way as well. Kinda blows my mind when I think about it.

Quark is no yoghurt ..an alternative name respectively the "professional name" for Quark is "Weißkäse"..."Weißkäse/Quark" is curd/white cheese..curd/white cheese is the first step in the process where you make cheese out of milk = "glotted milk"...Every cheese no matter if creamcheese, soft cheese, hard cheese was at first curd/white cheese. curd/white cheese is for instance the main ingrediant for "cheese cake" and that´s why it is called "cheese cake" technically spoken Yoghurt is "fermented milk" Quark is "glotted milk" = when milk splits up into protein = "white cheese" and liquid ="whey"/"Molke" in German...you might have seen in the german grocery´s "Molke drinks" with fruit flavor.
