@@dablackangel: sorry I just saw the comment! I live in the big city, so I reached out to the community. I got therapy for free, and participated in a coming out group. I also went to an Metropolitan Community Church and volunteered at a gay store in the community and a local AIDS Committee which I did Men’s Outreach in Spas. After coming out, I began having flashbacks of sexual abuse that happened to me as a kid. The community centre that specifically served the gay community didn’t have a program for this, though they offered some emotional help. I decided to write a program for the centre, in conjunction with them, then for 2 years I fundraised in the community, while working in a gay bar, and raised 5000. (with great thanks to the Drag and Leather Communities ) to start a pilot program to see if there was a need. There was sadly. I did this to repay the centre, for helping me. Great imagery and passion! What’s crazy and sad is the total void of social media dating/hookup apps - glued to the phone and pining for Instagram models - in this portrayal, that actually consumes so many lives today. In that I don’t think this pure, unadulterated, real people cruising in parks hardly ever takes place anymore. It existed during a time of necessity, when this was literally one of very few ways to meet someone. It brings me back to a very few but unforgettable illicit encounters I experienced in the early eighties, equally a bit tortured but inescapably drawn to what I wanted. I’m so glad I experienced life unfiltered and blissfully ignorant of all the masses of pretty and talented people with which we all can easily judge ourselves against today. Maybe a time to start staying local again and connect with folks not living in a screen.

I once was at such a place in highschool. I am quite sure my school didn't know (beforehand), but a classmate and friend of mine (a guy who is into guys) pointed out that it was a cruiser park. We were in the same team with the game that we were playing and he (and possibly someone else) said that he saw some people in the bushes scurry away when we walked past said bushes. I don't know wether or not to believe the second part, but I do recall seeing one or multiple used condoms myself. My point being, it was most definitely a park where people have sex. And this is not in some country where they stone you to death for being gay. I live in the Netherlands

Tel Aviv was always much more open and the center of the gay scene of Israel. It is a very gay city today. I was living there these years of the late '80s, '90s remembering the days how we hooked up with the post mailboxes, cruisings in Independence Park in Tel Aviv (and Jerusalem), hooking ups in bars or streets. It was not that long ago we had no cell phones, computers, all the gay apps and so... I was around my 20's and lucky to know that era before the arrival of computers and cell phones.

I never understand women who insist on holding onto a man they know deep in their hert, is gay. They will never truly have him. And he will always secretly go out to find the company of another man...desiring the physical relationship he can only have with another man. The one he can never have with the woman. Women like that have to own the pain when he one day leves for another man.

I believe there are many and I know one personally, though I don't like him. He lives a California mansion with a wife that knows and even has parties for his gay friends. I've been around him for several years and have always found him to be a cold person. He has even insulted me a couple of times while being with a social group of gay men. I finally wrote him off, no matter how many times he has a Christmas party in his mansion after the last insult. And, I do feel sorry for his wife.

I can understand this because my best friend was going through the same thing. I helped him a lot to accept his sexuality and break up with the girl who finally knew about him and not only that, she was telling him that he was confused and that it would pass. Like it's some kind of virus. Honestly, this girl pissed me off so much that I went right in and took his stuff. It got me to this point because even with the conversation they had between them, he didn't change his mind while he explained to her exactly what he felt. Sometimes I feel like these women do it on purpose. These women are not worthy.

i saw the movie and my interpretation of the scene at the end: the camera is the eye of the director (who is gay irl) getting his final look at Boaz, his str8 (formerly repressed bi-curious) crush. Boaz is with his young daughter, and wife who is again pregnant, indicating he is now fully committed to living a str8 life. Anyone have an idea of the symbolism of snails? in the rain or out. Maybe they are lost, out of their element, and Boaz may also be. (a review i read believe the film was mainly a showcase for Yoav Reuveni, a model irl making his acting debut.)

Snails die if their environment dries out, so they instinctively spend a lot of time underground or in places like caves. It's not unusual to see them out and about during rainy weather, when conditions are safe. Perhaps being hetro-married with kids is also safe for this man. My impression of Israel is that on paper it has the best legal protections for LGBT folks in the region, but it has yet to legalize gay marriages (it recognizes them among foreigners). Despite pockets of tolerance in cities like Tel Aviv, society in general has perhaps the same degree of hostility as in non-urban areas of the US.

This movie was depressing. If the storyline was in the present, are you telling me the only way to find another man like you is in a park? Maybe b/c it's in Israel. I know there is still anonymous sex but that isn't what being a gay man is all about. I must be lucky. Growing up gay had it's rough spots but being able to reveal my true feelings to another man has always brought happiness and fulfillment. If I was Boaz's wife or girlfriend after seeing how he acted I would NEVER trust him. They may look happy but that conflict will always be in his mind. She would be gullible to think things with him wouldn't ever change back. There will always be a little doubt or suspicion. Trust.

Cruising for anonymous sex isn't about being gay; it's about being male. If women cruised parks for sex, you can bet for sure that parks would be filled with horny straight guys cruising. Some guys are just attracted to risk, danger, anonymity, variety, and being seen when it comes to sex. The gender of their partner/target is irrelevant.

Is it still common to cruise at parks around the world? Here in the U.S. its almost non-existent due to the proliferation of hookup apps. Even bars are not hookup grounds for the most part anymore. By 8pm most parks here are pretty empty.

Yes it still happens here in the UK - not so much as times gone by - and you get a lot more pleasant surprises like guys you wouldnt think would ever be there or that you would ever be able to get - but they turn up - some so full of themselves it turns them on doing us a favour by letting us have a little bit of them or a lot , some because the idea of getting ravished turns them on and some because they have proved they can get any girl they want and are looking for something more exciting , more edgy , more dangerous and the ones who are just desperate through working so much or not having the cash to splash on a girl

There must be a god that's decide how the human face look like. Just like the backend team edit and edit faces from the person I met or know, may be there is a team of god that's doing so too? So, to have 3 main race is the fundamental designs. All faces more or less edit based on one model. The mixed race is having the mixed look, basically mainly skin color. The middle eastern, Latino, south east Asians are the mixed. Middle eastern is the 3 mixed, from yellow, black and white. The latin mainly black and white. The south east Asian is black and yellow. When all races are well mixed, and there is one race only in this world, this is the "finished product" of mixture. But, we normally discriminate each, we don't like foreigners, and in general, we don't like the differences, which in a way is Their intention. It's to let this mix takes its time to mature and ripe. Oops correction : They really want us to mix, but slowly. So those who mix with the others are blessed.
