I was a three time elected rep, the party I represented had very strong central control, to do this would risk being dumped, I suspect Starmer's labour isn't too fond of this. But......when you're in a situation where you don't know the answer don't spoof, to spoof is to show contempt and most political parties are full of people who have contempt for the voters.

I don’t know if he says more after this clip (possibly he doesn’t, agree with you in that case) but I did notice the little “agree with that” under his breath after the one sentence- seemed like he was genuinely reading it and offering a thought rather than *just* parroting at least, even if only a bit.

Darren Jones. A committed and decent parliamentarian and - unsurprisingly - a Remajner. Need many many more like him.

There is a deeper meaning behind this, that we’ve become to disenfranchised with politics, that we believe our politicians to be so robotic that when we hear a politician say those three forbidden words “I don’t know” it’s almost refreshing, it throws you so much, you almost forget what the question was.

The big problem with being open and honest as a politician is they always lose to the con-men who just promise the world.
