Agreed. Back then it was focused on satire and had a much harder edge, not least due to the constant risk of lawsuits. Now it's safe light entertainment. As well as Deayton's departure, it's move from BBC 2 to BBC 1 signalled the end of its golden age.

@@abitmoredeayton the bbc have weird standards. "screwing kids is fine but don't do coke with whores" i'm surprised we never saw him again though. i personally lost count of the lines i did as a younger i would hate for that to of ruined my livelihood.
