That's not necessarily what's happening here -- the government has every motivation to care a lot about their diplomatic corps, and State Department officers are generally treated very well. But when you're dealing with an unknown entity, diplomats in adversarial missions scattered across the world, and delicate international relations, it's important to figure out EXACTLY what's happening before publicly pointing fingers. Obviously I dunno anything, but, from everything I've heard/watched/read about Havana Syndrome, I would think that it's due to intelligence-gathering technology, rather than an actual weapon, and that the symptoms are adverse effects...

@@annseven7166Microwaves. It sounds like they use something lower level that creates a cumulative effect over time. The cooking appliances have metal screens over their window to stop microwaves, so glass isn't enough to block them. Microwaves cook you. They can damage lungs/tissues and cause bleeding which I assume can result in bruises. Look up masers (microwave lasers). A google search also shows room temperature masers being a more recent thing too. With how good transmitter technology has improved in the last decade, it certainly is possible china and russia are sharing some precision laser weapon they use to harm unprotected US officials. It can even involved crossing two or more of them at specific points so the cross point is the minimum level of radiation to cause damage over time and nothing else is damaged. The lower the power and the better the directionality, the harder it would be to detect. They could also monitor who is in the apartment or nearby to try to hide it as much as possible by turning it off and on.

I worked at Main state from 2001 to 2003 as a contractor (remember, when you complain about government contractors they NEED them because Government employees don't work past 5, weekends or holidays) in the SCIF. I have no sympathy for ANY STATE Department employee, the reason we HAVE a military is because of their constant failures. they spent half the day in the "Foggy Bottom" cafe downstairs and the other half yelling at each other. If they are at an embassy not only do they get US holidays off but host country holidays as well. THEY ARE NEVER THERE! When I was at the Embassy in Iraq, they spent the entirety of 2004 having John Kerry rallies instead of trying to help the Iraqi's. WORTHLESS! so if they get their brains fried it is no loss

This is not new. I met a guy in the 1970s who suffered these same symptoms after working at the embassy in Moscow. He said they thought if was caused by microwaves beamed into the building but nobody was paying much attention.

The supposed victims were given MRIs and there was no sign of brain abnormality in any of them - which wouldn’t be the case if they had been hit with radiation or ultrasound. As additional background note that a microwave oven is tuned to a specific frequency of 2.45 gigahertz (GHz) which is the frequency that causes water molecules to vibrate and thereby create a temperature rise. Years ago I wrote a patent disclosure called RF insecticides. In this disclose a microwave source is tunable to a specified frequency. An antenna system then broadcasts the microwave energy in a highly directional manner. The microwave frequency selected is determined by tests of the susceptibility of specific insect species to be killed or sterilized by a specific frequency. I suspect each insect species will have unique molecules within it that would be resonated by the microwave frequency and thereby damage that specific insect species (say for example a bowl weevil) but not harm a beneficial species like a spider. The system would then be deployed to irradiate a farmers field and the microwave frequency be adjusted to eliminate resident pest insects. I bet that is exactly what our adversaries have done. They have researched what microwave frequencies can damage human brain molecules, developed a portable highly directional transmitter and caused the brain damage as reported in the article. Simple enough to do. Also if we are serious it is simple enough to detect, locate the the exact position of the transmitter and capture the perpetrators. The CIA director acts like this is difficult to do. Nonsense, it is simple to do and commercial equipment of relatively low cost can easily be deployed to detect and locate the offending microwave source.

The description the gentleman in China provided, the sound of a marble circling down a metal funnel, indicates they were slowly sweeping the frequency across a spectrum, which would allow the energy to pass the resonant frequency that causes the damage. It would be extremely easy to locate the transmitter with a spectrum analyzer and a wide band antenna. I could do it in one afternoon, I'm an EE in that line of work. The fact that they did not locate it, indicates either the transmitter was shut off, or it never existed, or they just never looked for it. Important to realize that Parkinson's is the fastest growing disease in the US right now, and no one knows the cause. There are theories that it is caused by TCE, Round-up, or some other pesticide. The fact that Parkinson's is growing so fast, indicates it is NOT a directed energy weapon used by China. I would not be surprised if China did do it, but I doubt it, because I don't see a motive. Also, keep in mind China uses many pesticides, their version of the FDA is much more lax than ours. If you are living in China its very possible you are consuming their pesticides, which may cause health problems like they describe. These pesticides find their way into the water table, and persist for decades. It's a huge problem, its why people buy organic fruits and vegetables. Kennedy is the ONLY politician talking about this problem, the others just ignore the problem. Extremely important NOT to jump to conclusions about China, if you can't prove it, don't start a war because of it.

The news in general regarding this tech is so disinformation in regards to exacting details. Kind of like Spanish Inquisition style denying firearms existed and claiming God was striking their victims down. Allen Frey even has noted publicly that he doesn't believe the exact details of the systems will be declassified in his lifetime. ADS, Silent Guardian, MEDUSA and other systems are well known and somewhat documented with disinformation attached to those systems as well. Literally, like the KGB was somewhat copied by the CIA and there was literally an office of Disinformation.

Sounds like something i experienced several years ago at South Lake Tahoe. I could always hear the pitch in 1 particular place and it interfered with memory.

This story with it's bold, and likely correct, claims of a directed energy attack helps in the restoration of CBS News to being a truth seeking organization especially as it challenges the government's claims of things like "existing injuries", psychosomatic symptoms, and inaction. My mom somehow got it in her head that my dad had Parkinson's disease. He started shuffling around, hanging his head to his chin, his hands started shaking, and had other typical Parkinson's symptoms. It took months during the pandemic to get a neurologist appointment.Then the doctor ran all the tests and told my dad that he did NOT have Parkinson's, and by the time my dad got home, all his symptoms were gone.

@@livenfree Yes, it was just in his head. I told my family that-- because I see them almost everyday-- his symptoms would basically leave when mom was gone, because she encouraged it and led him around like a 4 year old. She got to feel needed and he got pampered, so they both got something out of it. The mind is a crazy thing.

I had similar sensations while stationed in the Navy aboard a submarine and soon after noticed things wrong like migraines, fatigue and eventually lost usage of my right side and was diagnosed with M.S. around 18 months later

It's a great way to communicate with people stuck underground surrounded by analog tech in what is essentially a giant antenna.

This happened to me in South Korea: it went on for nearly a year until I was forced to escape it. I recovered , but my ears are still ringing continually today. It was terrifying, but very much the same as many other victims of it.

My list of health issues is a mile long including "Peripheral Neuropathy", as I'm rated 100% disabled by both the US and Australian Veterans Administrations.. My team (2/502 Inf, 101st Airborne) spent just over 330 days in the jungle on the DMZ and Laos Boarder. No one from my team is alive, plus every Australian Vietnam Veteran I've been friends with have died or took their own lives! I've never felt so alone. My new doctors' line; "But you don't have the "markers" for such and such disease". "Thank you for your service"? a little too late...

It's very sad the US has maintained an illegal 50 year blockade on Cuba because they chose an economic system the US hates.

While I feel badly for our intelligence agents, diplomats and troops, it's no stretch at all to think that it might be our own devices causing issues like these. It's also no stretch to think that our enemies have stolen our technology and are using it against us. Just because you CAN build weapons, doesn't mean you should. Theres a handful of countries who's behavior would of been pretty sketchy without the american nuclear retaliation threat in place. But who is to really say? Thanks for the enlightening podcast the fact is that the pandemic has proven that America is part of the deal of secrecy.

Why would you work for any government institution or corporation that treated its employees like that? They’re supposedly heros, but when they come tell you about their symptoms you just write them off and even tell them to get back to work? They’re worried about their medical bills? Why would you serve your country if the government that ran it was consistently being exposed for how terrible they treat what we’re told are their best, most heroic employees, true servants of the people? If they’ll treat their veterans and employees like that then I feel sorry for the rest of us regular old civilians. Imagine what they’d do to us or let happen to us. Not good. I filed a complaint with the state department at the recommendation of a retired NSA whistleblower. The state department referred all of my information to the FBI and there was no investigation performed. However, because I told the state department that I maintained evidence of the noise campaign to the metal roofs of my buildings miraculously, all the audio disappeared from all of my videos.I’m adding this. I contacted PETA, people for the ethical treatment of animals because one of the buildings that was Targeted was my 501 C3 nonprofit cat rescue. I worked at a nuclear facility a very long time ago. There were microwave transmitters throughout the location. I could hear it and it would make me want to get away from it. I could hear it and feel it. I would ask other people that worked there if they could hear it. No one could hear it besides me. I thought that i was just imagining it. But, there were areas that i couldn't bear being around. Labs that i couldn't wait to get away from. It hasn't seemed to have effected me, as i have been away from it for close to fifety years. I do know that you can hear it and feel it, but not everyone can. Probably depends on the intensity and distance from the transmitter.

This would explain the past 10 years of US politics.

Foreign govts doing this to diplomats and security personnel overseas just get bolder and bolder the longer they are unchecked & unapprehended. If it is an RF weapon, then it's likely they have already made several versions of it - from low intensity to high intensity and all portable, all transportable on a vehicle that just roams around looking for victims. This is cutting edge stuff.

It’s not cutting edge. I have found credible documented research as far back as the 1930s Alphred Loomis was experimenting with rf weapons on his children. And Tesla worked on it as well. Essentially RF was weaponized when it was invented/discoverd.

I have a history of vertigo and after hearing the sound sample in the piece it set off my tinnitus which has yet to abate

Well, I have heard that the next war will be started in Space. Think about that for a sec. I’m currently undergoing this attack and label myself as a “targeted individual” today upon realizing. It was the street performance “movie like” experience I went through that did it for me.

I have been hearing that sound with pressure for over 20 years living close to Boston Logan airport. In 2013, I woke up with severe vertigo. The symptoms lasted 5 weeks. Eleven years later, I am no longer in that state but still have vertigo symptoms and severe tinnitus. Could this be related.

Thank you 60 minutes, your honesty is comendable. I started having it happen in 2019. By 2022 im now deaf ,blind 90%, iv3 had 2 strokes, massive headaches, virtigo daily, memory loss (severe) and loss of my balance to the degree that i can no longer walk further then about 20 feet. Im far too young for this to have just "been" nautral. As,i lost my hearing and sight within 4 months of the attack. I moved , and have been attacked about every 4 months regularily. Its not necessarily, a different country. Unfortunatly,.. id done nothing to deserve this except have my parents die and inherrit quite a bit of $. Thats what they are after. Land ,and cash. Period. This country, is in serious "trouble" .. from within. 😢

I would never work or send my children to work for their country that does not care about them. That’s sick!

These symptoms happen to me 24/7/365. When will they start listing to the millions of Americans who are suffering from these exact same symptoms???

Would be interesting to know if any insurance has been paid out already. Had a coworker a few years back called in sick so many times and was collecting work comp because of vertigo. He was running his own side hustle. He was never questioned or caught. Then one or 2 others started doing it because the first dude made it look easy. This could obviously be a real issue but you have to consider that insurance payout element.
