OZZY'S best. Randy and the band in peak form. Teenage me listened to this record a thousand times when it came out. Pure genius the entire record.

I heard from a very reliable source that in fact Ozzy's bassist at the time, Bob Daisley wrote the lyrics. Bob was telling how he dealt with his own addiction and the powers that haunted him. That, combined with the genius of Randy laying down track over track of guitars.... and we have of course Ozzy singing the song the way he did, and you have THE best song EVER!!!! from the Osbourne camp. It is a musical masterpiece that I never get tired of hearing

John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne is an English musician and media personality. He rose to prominence during the 1970s as the lead singer of the heavy metal band Black Sabbath, during which period he adopted the nickname "Prince of Darkness". Unlike some artists, who fade into obscurity after leaving the groups that made them famous, Osbourne in 1980 delivered a solo debut, Blizzard of Ozz, that was a resounding commercial success. Featuring the single “Crazy Train”

Saw this tour in Indianapolis. 5th row, slightly stage left. If it wasn't the last show Randy played, it was close to it. Great show!

I was fortunate to see Ozzy and Randy on the tour for this album back in the early 80’s in Dallas Tx. Reunion Arena. Back in the “an arena rock show every week” days.

OZZY is not quite like the rest of us, maybe that's why we love him so much. He will make a Madman out of you if you continue to listen to his self analysis and realize we all share the similar traits.

I love Ozzy and have since the first Black Sabbath album, but bassist Bob Daisley wrote the lyrics to Diary of a Madman. He said it was about his own nervous breakdown when he was 16. In fact, a great many of Ozzy's lyrics were written by others. Geezer Butler wrote tons of Black Sabbath's best and most loved songs.

Just commenting from somewhere in my memory hearing that Ozzys father was a prominent pracher. That may be why… But back to my original thoughts; check out His “Perry Mason” and “Mr. Tinkertrain”. You wont be disappointed.

Good reaction as always, JMBOY. Sounds familiar, but it's too eerie for me. Ozzy has much more approachable songs.
