Really enjoy watching your family enjoying themselves. I am amazed watching where you farm, I come from Ireland where the farm fields are fenced and have green grass.

Nothing like hauling with a rack in the back of the truck. And sale barns and other places were set up for it as well. It’s not used anymore but my vet clinic still has a double loading chute. One for semi trucks and one for pickups. Just have to be prepared for the swaying when critters shift around. Thanks for sharing.

Ya, it took me a minute to settle in to the horses moving around, but once they got the hang of it, they did not hardly move!!!

Great show fellas! Stock racks are all we used for years. I think we got our first stock trailer in 91 or 92. Alot of ranchers had been using trailers for quite a few years by then. We used to shake our heads. Everyone with a dozen cows had a trailer and we had the second biggest herd in the country and couldn't afford one. At our peak we turned 1350 head out in the summer to graze. Cows, calves, and yearlings. Lots of work, lots of riding. Thx for the show! I look forward to it every week. Loved this video! Brought back memories of when I was just a kid Dad and I loading our horses into the back of the pickup to go to various rented pastures to check the cattle. Always had to find a low spot to back the pickup into to load and unload the horses. No 4WD or trailers in those days. We enjoy watching the “real” Cowboy way of quietly handling and caring for the cattle. Keep up the good work!!

you need to invent a saddle with a baby carrier so they can sleep on the open range those rocks are cool

beautiful Photography and area. I love to ride a young horse in the cedars. During the week a video of a boy demonstrating a one rein stop came up. I think they were in Australia. See if you can find it. In 1975 I pulled up at squaw valley in my 65 ford 1/2 ton with my mare in the back. One person said "you came all the way from Utah in that"? Thanks for all the good video's

ha ha, I think I got lucky on that one. But I will take it!!

Use to have a slide in rack and put two horses in and head up Logan canyon to move cows. One time we were going up to mud flats and it had rained and the road was slick. We were just a boogying and right where the the worse place was the tail gate came down and the rack slid out with the two horses. They were just standing there until we came back for them.

I ranch in Canada. The only thing a get to ride every day is the tractor hauling feed. Would much rather be on my horse trailing cows on winter range we you . Really enjoy getting to see how you ranch down there. Thanks

your video's are always interesting I have had to help save cattle a few times here in Arizona because people leave gates open on leased land and wonder why all the gates are locked I was raised with the modo if the Gate is open leave it open and if it closed close it after you go through some people don't have common sense now a days

The cows are thinking. It’s about time you get here. Now they feel ok let’s lead the cowboy out. lol I can’t give you advice I know nothing about this. I’m guessing you live close by? I haven’t seen a video that shows where you live and maybe you don’t show it. 🤷 3 down 3 to go. I’m guessing folks on the highway are used to seeing cows out on the road. Sure is beautiful country you are showing us. I’m really glad you aren’t out there on your own. I was going to ask that later. Cool bridge reminds me of some of the Cars movie. I have kids. Yes, coyotes. But not very often, we lost two calves las year. This time of year, when calves first hit the ground is the worst.

What breed are the dogs, I'm a bit familiar with "hold 'em" dogs but have had more experience with herding dogs, have had some good ones. I love when you talk about the horses, dogs, and family. The beautiful country speaks for itself.

Also, do the overhanging rock formations that hide them have a specific name? What type of rock is it, shale? Would love some history about the things you capture in your videos. Thanks so much.

Hi, thanks for watching. These places that we find are the remnants of an ancient people that once inhabited this area. They vanished about 600 years ago. No one really knows why they left, but what is left of their dwellings are all over. They are believed to be Anasazi Native Americans. The rock that they are built in is Sand Stone.

Shaun, I took note of the dry lot fencing at headquarters. Any problems with the 4 x 4 welded wire. I need to install some new horse fencing and was leaning towards twisted wire no barbs maybe 5 strands high. Any thoughts? Really appreciate your channel. Yours and Painted Desert Ranch are at the top of my list.

Hi, I have not had problems yet, but I worry about a horse putting a foot through it. My preference would be the smooth twist wire. I put that welded wire there because I had some hay and grain on the other side. but really don't like to use it. Good luck with your project. We love Painted Desert Ranch, we talk to them often. Sometimes one look at a dog a d ack off she will go right to the calf

What’s your average rainfall per year, where I live in South Australia, it’s about 8 inches a year, where I farmed in New Zealand it was 30 inches

Not very often, but we have lost calves to coyotes. those little calves are really vulnerable this time of year.

Does the rock water dry up in the summer?

Yes it does, when it warms up, it will all go away with in a few weeks. Unless we get consistent storms. So we put cows out on it to take advantage of feed in that area while we can. Thanks for watching
