Really enjoy watching ya'll doing all that it takes to begin each different fishing season. You take us with you as you prepare the boat, catch the fish, and get your catch to the processors. You truly have a family run business that continues to grow. I also enjoy watching ya'll doing repairs on your equipment, working on your new boat, and fixing your garden in between your many chores.Look forward to the next video.
What a knaughty knot!!! The trials and tribulations of a fisherman. Awesome video as always. Thanks from Oregon!!!

WOW! What a snarl. The 'long line' version of a bird's nest.
Wow! I I nervously watched EIS dad expertly untangle the line mess. Very impressive. Was afraid one of you would trip over the line. Nice fish haul. You guys rock! God bless.
congrats on 65k ! I was just watching reruns on jigging for black rocks.. I see this channel having 100k in 2 month's or less.. thank y'all for quality fishing content..🐟
Between this video and the one where you baited and dropped your sets, it's pretty much a crash course in commercial fishing. Very nice.
Looks like another good fishing trip. You three know how to get it done. I guess mom is there to cheer you on. You need to get mom to show us how to cook some fish.
I am positive you were the only one who did not think that was one heck of a tangled mess
Nice job explaining the process for cleaning the halibut Tristan and Matt! very informative! 👍👍👊👊🎣🎣
Thanks again from another Aussie, it's always great to see you guys with a good haul.

@@EISAlaska No worries guys, Thanks.
Oh i forgot it all ended scrambled together. A great way to get up and see you guys again.
16months prior to that wasting, the Japan earthquake happened, and leaked radiation into the central pacific, which hit Vancouver Island on(where I live), flowing upwards to you, and all our starfish turned to mush...sad, but 3yrs later they started coming back again. Enjoyed the video guys, thanks ❤️🇨🇦🍻
That was a great video. Never new your reel would get tangled up like that. You guys stay safe. See you next time.

Good job remaining calm during the line tangle.... i would have been saying some not so nice words.... nice video
I spent many years as a deck hand on a deep sea charter vessel off the Queensland coast. A lot of time I spent undoing tangles for customers, I thought I was pretty good but you take the cake. Well done
Had to come back and watch a Halibut haul to recall how the mechanics worked. I'm amazed at how much was gone from that cod from the octopus.

They are ravenous! Wouldn’t wanna get in a scuffle with them underwater.
Little tangle tip for everyone when remaking your your pile of what ever never pull from the bottom of the pile always make sure your head end front end what ever you call it is at the top of your pile.
Thanks for the show..reminded me of scrambled eggs tomatoes fresh. and halibut checks a little surger breakfast or any time and toast and i always cooked hash browns. Oh our market was without heads most of the times
Just trying to play catch up with your vids, halibut fishing in Alaska is definitely on my bucket list 👍

Looks like another good day on the water, and a few fish in the hold to make it worthwhile. It's instructive to see how you all work easily & at a steady pace, teamwork without drama, just gettin' 'er done. It's mid-August today, and the days are beginning to noticeably shorten up. I think that this is the last time we'll be changing to/from Daylight Savings Time. There was a Referendum Ballot during the last Provincial election - I think that's how it ended up. Kind of makes sense, since everyone around Alberta has already given it up. But the summer, she's creeping away little by little. Ah well. Thanks for posting your video - enjoyable as always. Have a good summer, and whatch out for those Therbligs!

Thanks Flying Beaver. Yes, summer is starting to wane here also. Slight change in the colors with browns and yellows starting to creep in. It is still dark now at 5:00 am and summer is slipping away. Have a great fall and take care.

Haha! Yeah, once you’ve seen enough you definitely get an eye for legal fish. I do verify with the measuring table pretty frequently too.
Good job family awesome work..
I see you have container from Sæplast Iceland, these are special made for small boats, to fit in their cargo room, to spare you work pulling every fish up by hand, you just ice the fish direct to the container and your work is much lighter :)
Tristan is a young man of few but important words. I totally appreciate his humor and his analysis of situations. At one time you would have been a History Keeper. Just want you to know you are appreciated Tristan.
Very informative. Stay safe!
NICE JOB
Almost all fish squid octopus clams crabs even all fish guts can be used for halibut we used all of these we would run ten hooks of each and take the results from a couple sets and whatever was working best we wood start using 25 hooks oh and at night we would jig and fish for bait in a area of our set's it would show what was around lol and it was fun we ate alot of squids just some of. My memories
`super video
Good job boys
Interesting how you clean them.
Suggestion, before you drop them into the slush ice, put them on stringers so when you go to unload you just need to pull the stringers instead of individual fish?
Awesome fishing

Tangles and snarls are a pain. On my second Halibut trip the old Norwegians let me do some hook baiting and line handling. We were using conventional gear with each skate in a tub. The baited hooks and gangions were spliced onto the ground line and coiled into the tubs. One set I was tasked with tying the skates together. When done properly it is a thing of beauty to watch as the gear pays out the chute from one tub to the next. But, when the 'new guy' ties a skate in backwards it is an awful mess. The entire skate was pulled out of the tub and over the chute before anyone could say a word. The next skate payed out perfectly. I spent the next six hours bearing the stares and curses of the entire crew, knowing what kind of mess we were facing when we pulled that set. As the set was hauled my dread grew as we approached my tangle. It never came. Each skate came in with a fish on almost every hook and nary a whisper of a snarl. No one said a word or declared that I was a lucky dog, nothing. Just more stares whenever I tied the skates for the next set. At the end of that trip the crew voted me a full share and offered me a bunk for the next year. I got into crabbing and trawling out west and never went back to the schooners but 45 years later I still think about those days.
How much longer is it going to be on the other boat to get it ready for fishing love your show down to earth real people instead of putting on that’s what I like about you all the most straight up I have any years in state care love to come up and visit when they go fishing
Cod tacos yummy
What a great Team Len. I noticed you kept an octopus on this trip. Do you eat them? I love octopus sushi.

Great Video as always. When you were hauling in the tangle, why were so many baits worn out?? Crabs or current??
@EISAlaska
Жыл бұрын
Sand fleas! They can eat fish up pretty fast if the conditions are right.
What do you do with the octopus? Do you have specific buyers for that type of fish?
Hi guys. Not a bad catch! If, for example, I went with you to the halibut fishery, a member of the team on deck, how much would I be able to earn in a month?
❓ What happens to the octopus are you able to use it for bait? As always fair weather and calm seas. Good luck and God bless.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
So when we going to see halibut lunch options from the EIS team? Catch and cook? hehe :)
Len, When you are talking "net weight" (gutted, head off) what about the cheek meat? Do you not market that and isn't it counted in your yearly poundage quota? My favorite habilut cut for halibut tacos for sure. Great video!
@EISAlaska
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary. The net weight is what is deducted from our quota. The processors also base the ex-vessel price pay on the net weight. Technically the heads are the fisherman's property to do with as they please. Most don't bother with cheeks. We do have ours's processed and sell on our website. Cheeks amount to 1% or so of net weight. And your right, cheeks are delicious and the best cut!
When offloading, halibut in the blue box, cod on the left, what is the pile on the right?
