Haul Out in Hiva Oa | Episode 241

Welcome back to WE|Sail, on this weeks episode we haul out VA in a small yard in Hiva Oa. It has been nearly two years since we last hauled the boat out and left her to fend for herself. WE prepare the boat for some time away and this is the first time we hauled the boat out of the water by trailer!
Join us as we pack up and leave our floating home alone for 3 months!

A number of your boatyard shots had a Chris White Atlantic catamaran sitting on the hard there. Did you happen to notice what size it is? They said they couldn't haul my A57 there.

You could look at pickling your water maker like your fuel tanks. If you leave the water maker unused then bacteria grows in all the filters and membrains. If you leave half empty fuel tanks , then most of the tank is air and on hot days condensation forms and that’s the ideal conditions for bacterial growth. And we all now know what happens then. Great vid again guys, always wait and leave watching your vid till last as it’s the best.

Yup! know how you feel about that way of lifting the boat up-- just did exactly the same on my 35' cat-- however they knew what they were doing and all good-- just need to get the antifoul off my knees and hands... Phil

Great episode. Warren, if you completely cross out a task, then you can't see what you completed. And if your like me, you then ask yourself, "Did I pickle the water maker filters" 🤨🤔 . When will you guys be in the Virgin Islands? How's Colin doing after being at home in NZ?

We were wondering if that was the case. Seems like it is a better option for hauling out. But what about when boats sitting on the blocks for that long, you think there is any long term issues with that?

I know everyone says this but we have been watching you and others since the beginning. When your videos are delayed, we actually wonder if you have run into storms or trouble. We also get a thrill when you reference or show your other KZreadrs like Harbours Unkown, Parlay Revival, etc and we track where you are and where you meet up. It is interesting from a time line. When you pull into an anchorage we pause on the TV and look for the other boats. Have you run into One Life? More are on their way this year to FP we are following. Sorry for taking so much time. Fair winds and following seas… and a hello from Canada
