rightly said, if you are a romantic be a Hasrat, if you are sad or philosophical be a Sahir, be a Majrooh if you are happy.....wonder what we can say for Shailendra. those olden days....all these lyricists and the lovely relationship they had with the MD's....now days MD's just give a tap to the lyricists and ask them to write something...the bonding is not there to collective produce lovely tunes

yes Shakeel, Rajinder Kishan and even others like Gulshan Bawra, Jan Nisar Akhtar etc.....we run out of adjectives for these yesteryear lyricists....all of them were too good...they used to sit with the musicians and the directors and ask them about the story, what mood the actor will be, and feel the mood of the song etc....especially for the sad songs are very deep emotions ... dost dost na raha, babul ki duaen leti jaa, yeh aansoo mere dil ki zubaan. romantic songs also did bring out feelings, but sad songs even more.

Hasratji and Shailendra Ji both are eyes to R.K. Films.

Legends never die divine personality Hasarat Sahab how simple down to earth a (shayar)he was . I am praying to God please send him back to shower his choicest blessing on this univers which on verge of its end.

१९५० से १९८० तक के तीस सालों के दौर में हिंदी फिल्म जगत में जितने भी गीतकारों ने अपना योगदान दिया उनकी जितनी भी सराहना की जाए वह कम ही होगी. सबने एक से बढकर एक बढिया गीत लिखे और जिन्हें महान संगीतकारों ने अपनी धुनों से संवारा वे आज भी कानों में गूंजते हैं. जहाँ तक हसरत जयपुरीसाब के गीतों का सवाल है वे केवल प्रणय गीतों के बादशाह ही नहीं थे बल्कि दिल को छू लेने वाले गीत लिखने में भी माहिर थे. मिसाल की तौर पर देखा जाए तो "अमन का फरिश्ता कहाँ जा रहा है" (अमन), "बेदर्दी बालमा तुझको मेरा मन" (आरजू), "जिंदगी एक सफर है सुहाना" (अंदाज) ये बेहतरींन गीत देखिए. ऐसे न जाने कितने गीत उनकी कलम से कागज पर उतरे हैं. प्रणय के गीतों में उन्होंने अपनी खास जगह बनाई थी. "तेरी प्यारी प्यारी सूरत को' (ससुराल), "बहारों फूल बरसाओ" (सूरज), "ये मेरा प्रेमपत्र पढ कर" (संगम) ये और अन्य गीत जिन्हें शंकर-जयकिशन एवं रफीसाब ने चार चांद लगा दिए हैं उन्हें श्रोता कभी भूल नहीं सकते. हसरतसाब को भावपूर्ण श्रद्धांजली. - अनिल रा. तोरणे, तलेगांव दाभाडे (महाराष्ट्र)

A poet of romance,Hasrat jaipuri belonged to golden era of music n gave us countless beautiful songs to relish n hummed always.1 of the best indeed.

Hasrat Jaipuri was a poet. Poetry can be made into songs but can also be read and still be good. Shailendra was a song-writer -- one who writes only for music. It's not a case of better or worse. Both were outstanding in their place.
