Hasheem Thabeet was the 2nd overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft. It was one of the best drafts of that decade, as it produced so many star players. However, Thabeet's selection at #2 was always a massive question mark, and even to this day - people are confused on why he went that high, or why he never lived up to his NBA potential. Hope you enjoy the video!

His size was basically what got him drafted and the small bit of talent he picked up along the way was what kept him there the few seasons he lasted. Thabeet came into the league at the wrong time. If he would’ve been around in the late 90’s early 00’s, he would’ve been a serviceable big. Unfortunately for him, he played just when the league started to move away from traditional centers, and go towards a more fast paced game.

It seems crazy that he went high now, but in college you just couldn't score with him out there, 4 blocks per game plus a ton of altered shots, the only guy I remember really making him look bad was DeJuan Blair, who absolutely punked him. His biggest obstacle was the defensive 3 second rule in the NBA. It forced him to actually move, which was a problem because he had no lateral quickness, or balance, or any defensive footwork.
