Hasegawa Yukimitsu teaching kata Annan (Ryuei ryu) + bunkai - Karate All Stars 2013

Спорт

Hasegawa Yukimitsu Sensei teaches kata Annan (original Ryuei ryu version from Sakumoto Tsuguo Sensei) assisted by Emma Lucraft (WKF Under 21 European Champion 2013) as performer during "Karate All Stars 2013", the international seminar organized by Lucio Maurino's Sportivart and held in Caserta on 15-17 November 2013. Hasegawa Yukimitsu is a legend of Karate: 7 times WKF World Champion in team kata and 7th Dan of JKF Shitokai. He is also the performer of shitei kata in many JKF books and videos.
Fundamental concepts explained during this class:
• correct usage of the shoulder;
• hip movement;
• timing;
• bunkai of some techniques.

    Oh goodness... He has such command over his entire body; that power he generates from his hips is incredible.

    His demonstrations of these Shito-Ruy katas are absolutely convincing. And tell how difficult it is to perform all movements correctly. With power and precision. Pure art and skill. Although bunkai applications make sense, most of them have no use in real self defense and fighting situations, like in street fight. But its good to keep alive this great karate tradition. By kata competitions and in training dojos. When training karate, everyone learn a lot. Of themselves too. And some discipline too, although nowadays it need to be teached differently than before.

    Hasegawa sensei seems like a really down-to-earth guy. I liked that bit at the end with him showing the movements to Junior Lefevre, sensei.

    @@AlessandroTimmi Funny a year later I came back here to make this same comment (I forgot I already had), and saw my comment here. So I'll also add that I like the Lefevre part also because of how Hasegawa was imitating his movements in the background in the kumite video lol!

Gambatte Kudassai.

    Agree. Over years of karate practice I have seen translators (who don't practice the Japanese Martial Arts), really struggle with Martial Art translation. Sure they might speak the Japanese language quite well. But they don't speak the language of the 'Martial Art' at all. Frankly you are far better off with the instructor showing & the students learning by using their innate sense of what the teacher is trying to achieve. When the Japanese teacher says 'kaki uke' or something similar, the translator usually won't know what it means. But students, from a good dojo will. They know what it means and so the mind can move to then 'feel' and experience what lesson point the teacher wants to impart. That's been my experience anyway.

    Since you are talking about a World Karate champion and World-class Sensei, you should be more respectful, also if you don't like his technique. Anyway, if it is that good, why don't you show us your level in a video, so that anyone can judge you as you did with Levefre Sensei?

    Alessandro Timmi About world champion I dont deny it, it has certainly well deserved and He is with all rights to profit from that giving courses around the world. Now, it is a clear example that sports kumite deforms the technician. Single I support sport kata. Fighters of Kumite are athletes
