The recent upsurge of the threat of terrorism and challenges in the information space require the BRICS countries search for collective responses, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov has said. "The threat of terrorism, which has become very acute recently, as well as the growing challenges in the information space, stimulate the BRICS members to search for collective responses, including within the framework of specialized mechanisms created in this area," said Ryabkov at the opening of the BRICS Academic Forum. Russia chairs BRICS in 2024. About 250 events are planned within the framework of its presidency, the centerpiece of which will be the summit in Kazan scheduled for October. The BRICS group has seen two waves of expansion since its emergence in 2006. In 2011, South Africa joined the original membership, which included Brazil, Russia, India and China. In August 2023, six new members, including Argentina, were invited to join the association. Buenos Aires changed its mind in late December last year. Five new-comers - Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia began full-fledged work in BRICS on January 1, 2024.

How can it be that Russia has been losing heaps of men in meat waves for 2 years and yet it can still open up new front(s) to stretch the Ukraine army who have many less casualties? Surely, with the attacker needing 3x the defending force to have an impact this should not be possible. And yet I see from war mapping channels that Russia is making incremental gains in several places from Robotyne to the new Kharkiv front.

The Kremlin has an advantage in their ability to mobilise and recruit men. The Russian federation also has the advantage of not having to defend its borders from a Ukrainian invasion. Ukraine, on the other hand, has to defend its borders from russian aggression including the Ukrainian-Belarus border, the Russian-Ukrainian Ukrainian border, the occupied areas, the blacksea coast and transnistria. Ukraine doesn't have the man power to defend all of its borders, while Russia can pick and choose where it concentrates its forces and attacks. Russia also has the advantage of uncontested freedom of movement within the russian federation do to restrictions on the use of western weapon systems against targets inside Russian sovereign territory. While every part of Ukraine is vulnerable to russian drone and missile attacks

Russia kicked off the first stage of nuclear exercises to test the use of non-strategic nuclear weapons in the Southern Military District. The exercises will be conducted with the participation of the Iskander missile system and Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, the Defence Ministry said. The military practice training and combat tasks to receive special munitions for the Iskander operational-tactical missile system. The aviation forces involved in the exercise practice the delivery of nuclear warheads to air-launched missiles, including hypersonic Kinzhal missiles. They also carry out sorties to designated patrol areas. According to the Defence Ministry, the exercises are conducted "to maintain the readiness of personnel and equipment of non-strategic nuclear weapons combat units" to defend Russia's territorial integrity and sovereignty "in response to provocative statements and threats from certain Western officials." The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia command the drills. The Ministry of Defence announced the start of preparations for the exercises on May 6. The Kremlin did not disclose their timing. The Pentagon saw no reason to change the readiness of the US nuclear forces against the background of Russia's exercises. The Pentagon believes that Moscow is not planning to use nuclear weapons.

Why does Francis continue to wrongly pronounce Kharkiv? Even his colleagues pronounce it correctly for him to hear but he continues to pronounce the 'k' at the beginning, which is not the correct way. Joe knows how to pronounce it but Francis just keeps saying it incorrectly despite knowing how to say it properly from his colleagues.
