I've watched every single video on this car and yours is my favourite.
You nailed it well at the end bro. When the production of the E85/E86 Z4 came to an end, so did the greatness of the BMW era.

It’s like a completely different manufacturer now
Ive got the 3.0si Coupe and love it to death. Since I daily it, I felt that it was more practical (just in small ways, like the better low end torque and larger trunk space) than the M. It is a bit underrated, the N52 engine is also a gem. I put the Sport seats in, got an M-Style hood for those awesome creases and will never get rid of it.

The n52 is a great engine! And still sounds great too. And also a LOT lighter than the S54 as it’s aluminium/magnesium instead of iron

Agree I have the 2007 N52

I have a 2007 130i with the N52. I will never get rid of it :)
I have the same Interlagos Blue Z4M Coupe, minus the dash satnav screen (thank god). You nail most of the important bits, so well done. Yes the suspension is hard, and that's the main criticism levelled at the car. For daily city driving it woukd be a pain. But that's not what M Division built it for. Pressing on at open road speeds and even in poor quality tarmac of which we've got an over abundance here in New Zealand (!), the car is sensational! Raw, connected, accurate, and responsive. Everything a great sports car should be! And yes, the engine is the jewel in the crown. Incredibly quick throttle response by virtue of natural aspiration and those 6 individual throttle bodies. It can be challenging to drive smoothly, requiring great finesse with the throttle pedal, even with the Sport button off! I never turn it on. JayEmm criticised the car loudly for bunny hopping - it's what happens when you don't have that finesse 🐇😉. These cars are from another era, but look current in their styling, and are set to go stratospheric in value like the Z3M Coupe as people start to wake up to what they are.

Couldn’t agree more mate; well said! 👍
This gem of a channel should certainly have thousands of subscribers. It's a wonder YT somehow got it recommended to me. Keep it up mate!

Thanks mate! Really appreciate the kind words 😊
great vid, great car, beautiful ending 😳
Great review from the heart! I have the same colour, same wheels but the roadster. The coupe is one of the best looking cars ever, until you take the roof of the roadster of course ;-) Either way both are amazing!!! It's my daily, although a bit juicy and aggressive compared to the 3.0litre I had before which was also an amazing car. For me it's a keeper, I will drive this as long as possible. I don't want to drive a battery, who'd carbon footprint is worse!
Visually I've always preferred the roadster to the coupe but, either way, I still want this car! Mostly for its engine. BMW has made many great engines over the decades and this is arguably the greatest, and the most BMW-ish of them all. Yes the modern turbo motors put out more power but there's a sensation and a sound quality to these highly tunes NA motors that turbos simply cannot replicate. If you want to drive a car that feels like a machine, and not a computer, these older M models are still hard to beat.
Such videos make me never sell my Z4 Coupe... Even though it is the kind of car that you don't really need.

Exactly. I’ve listed my 07’ a couple of times because of the lack of use but have now embraced the fact that it doesn’t need to be driven everyday. It’s makes it more special.
I have this gem and feel it is the ultimate drivers car.. I like your description of the rear being thick like a woman .. lol…couldn’t agree more , great review mate ,,, for all the driving enthusiasts, who new the magic of this car and didn’t listen to the critics …
Owned one. Beautiful coupe. The overall driving experience is just OK, though the M upgrades help. This is really a weekend ride, not a daily driver or a car you own for boot space or practicality- and because of that, I would go for a convertible...
Back when M cars looked good and had good driver feedback
great video, it was an ugly duckling that turned out to be a beautiful swan.

Seriously! When I first saw the e85 back in 2003 I thought it was overdone and ridiculous. 20 years can give you a much different perspective
Honest accurate review! I love my 07 black sapphire M. I think you called the engine a 3.5 l unit but it is 3.2. Otherwise spot on. Cheers.

Yeah good pickup! I misspoke 👍
Regarding the harshness of the suspension: you certainly didn't help it by putting 19" wheels on it. It might look a little better while sitting still, but that's the only advantage.
This car is dope. 😀

Agree! Future classic
Great clip! Mine’s very similar and I agree on most everything here. A set of Eibach Pro springs did wonders for the ride!

I did wonder whether a set of high end coilovers like ohlins would make a big difference; guess this answers the question! Thanks

@@thetuneupAU Yeah I'm on KW V3 coilovers now (pretty expensive) but a cheap (150euro) set of Eibach lowering springs will sort this too. Lower AND softer, you read that correctly. :)
It's a German S2000. I've always loved these
Miss my z4mc with the similar spec to the vid. The sat nav pop up on ignition just added to the sense of occasion.
Really gotta get mine back on the road!
Great video, I tend to agree about the BMW’s after this era. But then again, I felt the same after E30’s. I was planning on selling my 492RWHP supercharged M Coupe once I bought my 18’ M4. I couldn’t do it for that very reason. It’s an extremely important part of history. Will stay in the garage for the occasional weekend cruise. Just fyi, you can adjust the height of the steering wheel to gain visual access to speedo :P

492RWHP?!? Dear god, what an animal! Keep it, it’s an absolute classic
Good video. On the 3.0si version (with electric steering) the Sport Button also gives you a faster steering input plus the faster throttle response. Agree about the suspension being a little too hard, and am looking into replacing this for a more 'fast road' setup.

@@thetuneupAU Ive thrown KW v3's on mine and its surprisingly more compliant on harsh roads however much stiffer and offers way more feedback while driving in a spirited manner
I own a e85 z4m. The throttle response is completely hopeless. When i press the pedal, about 0.3 seconds response delay and then the acceleration is very sudden causing the wheel to skid when I am in the middle of corner. But as you said, driving at the very back of the car feel special and not a lot of other car can give you such experience

Weidly I don't notice this on my 3.0si - I wonder if the M has a different map or setup maybe ???
@Audidude

There's something seriously wrong with your car if you have a throttle response as you describe. The S54 engine is THE most responsive engine I've owned, and that includes E39 M5, Porsche 911 996 and 997, Aston Martin 6L V12, Honda B18CR, all naturally aspirated like the S54 but only the S54 and E39 M5 V8 have individual throttle bodies. See my comment in earlier posting.

There is something wrong with your Z4M. Mine has instant throttle response and pick up. Check you O2 sensors and VANOS unit. Might be time for a VANOS rebuild
