I just received this saw and you don't need an engine hoist. I slid 4 - 2"X4"'s into the opening in the end of the upper pallet and rolled the saw to the end wear the wheels nearest me rolled off of the pallet and then just shimmied it down to the end of the 2"X4"s. I went to the other side, tilted the saw and rolled it off. Of course you need mobile base for this. I'm 61 years old 5'10" 145 and did it by myself. Thank you for the video, it was very helpful, not trying to demean your method.

I just received this exact saw and set it up last weekend its amazing! Just a tip for ya, the way that fence was from the factory is actually correct. You want no more than a 1/64 or so bigger gap past the blade to avoid pinch etc.

Loved the video and the detail. Just bought the 52" saw last night and looking forward to getting it in and set into the shop.

thank you for the compliment. Im glad the video helped you out. If you have any issues with the rip scale..I did a separate video on how to set that up correctly. The manual at the time had a few errors in it. I hope you enjoy your table saw!!

That beautiful saw will give you many years of service. Nice, thorough job explaining the assembly of it. I think the only thing I would do differently is to check the blade-to-miter slot tolerance before putting on the rails or even the extension wings. That way, if it were out of alignment it's much easier to not have to fight with all that extra stuff on the saw. I sort of found that out with my old Delta Unisaw with 52-inch rails. Incidentally, that Harvey fence is very similar to my Delta Unifence. High/Low. And -- you can't go wrong with a good Starrett combination square. You only cry once the day you pay for it. The rest is pure joy. Some day buy yourself the 6-inch one and you'll find yourself reaching for that maybe even more than the 12-inch one. Best to you. Enjoy your saw and thank you for the video.

Good job on the video. It was interesting to see the challenges you encountered at times; it makes it more relatable. I noticed, near the end of the video, that there was an additional scale lying on top of the fence. Questions: 1. Are two scales provided, in case one is damaged? That scale should be installed at the factory (in my opinion). 2. It looks like you didn't go with the TiN coating. If so, why didn't you go with TiN? 3. I also noticed that you still had the cardboard under the saw when you had completed the assembly. How did you remove it? FYI. Those screws with the hex drive on the inside (female) are called socket head cap screws. Thanks for taking the time to make the video. I'm sure it will be helpful to a lot of woodworkers.

That washer that fits over the arbor to hold the blade (20:38) had two protrusions on it that mated onto the saw blade. Can you take those two protrusions off, or do you have to use a proprietary blade that have those two holes in them? Asking a few questions because I'm considering buying that saw. Also, is there any reason you see why you could not make your own zero clearance throat plate out of wood for that saw? For example, with a Saw Stop I'm not so sure you can make your own zero clearance plate.

The saw accepts every standard blade out there. I think the those are for safety purposes to help lock the blade. I think you will enjoy the saw alot. I love mine. Best money spent. Maybe I should do a 6 month review video and share my thoughts.

Nice job of describing the set up. Appears to be a well made machine. What is the HP of the motor?

Thanks for this terrific video. It saved me time and some probable mistakes on assembly. Love the saw. But I have one question. The suction from the overhead dust collection is extremely weak -- almost non-existent. The main port pulls fine. Any theories? I think I've installed it properly. Thanks in advance for any advise.

Thanks for the quick response, Sorry your dust collection is out of commission, I will reach out to the folks you suggest. My dust collection (used with a Sawstop jobsite saw) was simply a 5HP Rigid shopvac. I did have a festool hose and blade guard that "split" into two ports -- one attached to the blade guard, the other to the vac, Was a pretty good system. I suspect thtat the issue with my overarm system may be that the shopvac is not powerful enough.. I reached out to Harvey support to see what they come up with. Following up on the dust collection issue. I got a bunch of responses from the Harvey group on Facebook. The consensus is the overarm blade guard does not do a very good job -- even with a powerful dust collector. One suggestion was to use a dedicated shop vac for the upper hose. Interestingly, a few folks find the blade guard itself cumbersome. I am finding that too, especially when double checking for accurate measurements. I have to lift the flexible parts of the guard to see the blade.

I noticed you hooked your engine hoist strap around that little hook on the back of the saw. Is that what the hook is for?

Actually no..that was probably a mistake that I didn't catch. The hooks are for saw blades and the wrenches. Good eye. Thanks for catching that.

@Bawb2002, you are right on with the parallelism of the fence to the miter slot. A few thousandths wider at the end of the fence will help with "pinch"and blade burning the wood . Also using even a Starrett combo square it's only a "Guess" at best. Very easy to make a dial indicator for

I am strongly considering buying this saw but need to get it in my basement - can you tell me how the saw was delivered so I can see if this is doable?? By this I mean how many packages and what was the biggest thing and do you know how much it weighed?? TIA

Hey thank you for watching my video! To answer your question the saw was delivered by a freight company that harvey goes through. It came in on a single pallet and in several boxes(I cant remember exactly..I think 4 or 5) The biggest box was the saw base itself. It is very heavy..you will need some type of hoist or alot of manpower. I hope this helps. i might need to do a follow up video. If you have any more questions feel free to ask me.

FWIW, I installed my own - 1 for this saw and 1 for my new jointer. I had to remove (4) 20 amp breakers and replace them with (2) tandem breakers to make room. I bought 25 feet of 10-2 cable, the tandem breakers, the 30 amp 220V breaker and some assorted hardware and it cost me about $200 for all of it. After crawling around in the attic of my garage fishing wire, I can tell you that the money you spend on an electrician is money well spent. I happen to have an extensive background in electronics, so I’m comfortable doing my own work and have installed 220V outlets many times, but if you are new to it, just pay a qualified guy and give him a nice tip when he’s done!

Is the side table not made of cast iron? Is it sheet metal? Is the width of the side table 14-3/8"? I'm asking because I'm considering buying the same saw model and being able to decide if to also buy the cast iron right-wing or if the side table already is cast iron.

Both wings are cast iron. The side table is made of melamine..for installing a router if needed. Hope this helps

You can order the side table as cast iron, it costs extra but makes the saw even more stable with the added weight.

If you get a chance could you give me the distance from the blade to right the edge of table, I am looking at the same saw and hoping i will have room to set my bandsaw just behind the rail next to the table top. thanks for the video.

My fence goes out of square when I move it across the table but goes parallel to the blade when I lock it down. How do I correct that so it remains parallel also when moving?

Sounds like you need to make adjustments to the set screws on the fence rail. I would double check all adjustment screws

Are you sure the Allen wrenches were not TORX heads? Any wrench that is labeled with a T- 30 for example is usually a TORX Wrench

Just setting mine up. Noticed when you lock the fence down, I got some scratching of the paint on the front rail. Has anyone had this issue is it normal? Also, do you want the throat plate flush to the tabletop across the entire plate? Seems I cannot get mine flush over entire area. Tanks

I love it..definitely worth the money. My only regret is not getting the gold top. I live in the south and we have alot of moisture. I absolutely love the fence and miter gauge. The saw required very little adjustment. Very well built!!

@@cannonwoodworking5917 Keep the table top waxed with a good paste wax like Johnsons' and you won't have any issues. I live in Tn. Humid here too. I've got a lot of old cast iron tools and zero rust because I wax them every 4 months. Really helps the wood slide too. Never an issue with finish schedules either.

During a tornado hide under this thing.

I kinda like the Harvey table saw, but they are giving me grief about my longish dirt driveway and delivery. If they can't guarantee delivery, I'll unfortunately be going else where... :(

Hey thanks for commenting. I ran into a similar problem, and if you go to a different saw I think you will run into the same problem again. The company hires a delivery company as they all do. I recommend calling the delivery company directly and explain to them your situation. They should work with you in getting the saw delivered. My local delivery company worked with me on my particular problem. Harvey should have provided a delivery invoice with contact info. Let me know how it goes.

@@cannonwoodworking5917 yea, I got a Laguna Bandsaw and it wasn't even brought up as an issue, they drove up and even walked it right into my garage and made sure it was placed for me to easily unbox it. it's mostly who they contract with for delivery. Harvey needs to find a different service.

I live on a small dead end street and they managed to squeeze the truck down and the backed all of the way out. Harvey said dead end streets are an issue but the driver worked with me. I love my saw. I was gonna borrow a trailer just to get it here. We’ll worth it!!!

Can’t see buying this saw. The problem is the proprietary saw blade and washer. Also the fact that there were burrs on the arbor . It’s a nice looking saw.

I'm sure that you are aware by now, but there is no proprietary saw blade needed. It will accept any 10" blade available.
