Hey y'all, I'm Meagan. My husband Andy and I grew up in rural NC and as newlyweds, decided we wanted something more than the typical American lifestyle. So we started growing our own food, I learned to can and so started this passion of food preservation and knowing where our food comes from.
Even though we grew up around this lifestyle, we still had to learn for ourselves, the ways of our ancestors before us. We now grow a huge portion of our food, including our own meat.
High society and MSM want you to think you don't have time to grow, preserve and cook your own food from scratch, but I am here to help you along the way. As a working mother of 2 on a busy little farm, there is time, we just have to prioritize it.
Through my weekly videos, I'll show you how to prepare easy meals cooked from scratch, tips on preserving your garden harvest and the occasional farm video. Live life on YOUR terms

very interesting, isn't it amazing that God makes the ears to turn downward to repel the water. THis is a good "HOMESCHOOL" lesson I will share with my kids.

That's a Pack Saddle. They love corn patches. That's the only place I've ever seen them. They do have painful stings as you know. We always washed the sting area with sulfer soap then put baking soda or yellow root powder on the sting, whichever was closest at the time. Octagon soap works well too for washing it. Great popcorn harvest! Much Love

Those saddleback caterpillars sure do sting - to make sure you get rid of the spines in your finger you can put duct tape over it and peel off - my dad always said duct tapes just about fixes everything - and he’s not wrong 😂

I love this! We grow popcorn and we love it! We've grown 3 different varieties at different times and all have done well. I picked ours very early this year before a rainy stretch set in. I pull the shucks back and hang it on a homemade herb dryer to dry out. We planted a second stand where we took garlic out and it will be ready to pull soon. I like to use popcorn as a snack, but we also grind it for corn meal for cornbread and such. Thank you for sharing this with us!

Is there different types of popcorn ? I wonder, the popcorn this year seems to be very dry and tough after you pop it. My brother said the same thing,he orders his popcorn from a different place, rather than here in Canada. Is there different grades of popcorn ? and which areas grow the best popcorn ? You seem to be very knowledgeable on corns, so maybe you know the answer ? Maybe it could also be the soil it was grown in, the region, or weather ? Any idea Really enjoyed your video, and it looks like you really love growing it.
