After watching this I can't wait to harvest the leaves of my sweet potatoes which I just randomly plant coz it was growing in my kitchen.Thank you Windy!
Thanks for this. The sweet potato vines in my garden are overflowing. I had no idea they were used as a stir fry. Love the idea of adding garlic and miso. I will try this.
This is now my favorite recipe for Sweet potato leaves !! So good - thank you!

You're the greatest! Been years since I grew SPs, but they are on the list again. Thanks for the love, wisdom and inspiration!
Thanks Wendi, yesterday I didn't know that we can eat the sweet potato leaves, now I can't wait to try your recipe. Thanks for the recipe and the tip about rice wine vinegar and miso. That's so great. (My sweet potatoes sprouted, and now I know what to do).
Thank you, going to try this tonight. My neighbor at our community garden just gave me a bunch of sweet potato leaves, and they are all clean now and ready to cook.

Just planted my first Sweet Potato crop for the season, and looking forward to giving this a try once they start growing! Thanks for the video Wendi! Happy Gardening Marty Ware (from Australia)
I started following you because I love the part of how you cook and prepare your harvest. What to add to it. How to do it. More like this would so cool. It’s so simplified and down, ready to eats.

Wow! Thanks for posting this video. My Mom & some other nature folks used to tell us about sweet potato leaves, but I never learnt how to prepare them. This makes so much sense, there's good nutritious foods all around us, if only we paid closer attention.
Hello Wendi, and thank you so much for this video. Thanks to you, I've been enjoying my sweet potato greens all summer. I love them! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
Jus planted my 12 slips 2 weeks ago, using your videos on sweet potatoes 🍠 thank you! Can’t wait to Harvest both tubers and leafs 😋
I grew lots of sweet potatoes this summer, from which I have tons of leaves but I’ve never tried cooking or eating them. Thanks for sharing this video, I’m definitely gonna give it a try.

You can flavor it however you like -- like your spinach!
Super informative - I've got sweet potatoe vines climbing everywhere - it's the only thing rocking in the garden. I figured there were some potatoes under there, but I just learned that the greens are edible! So stoked. I can have steamed greens probably every day for a month!
Ooh wow, this is cool, we eat this in Congo 🇨🇩 as well , we call it Matembele 😊

Hi Wendy, I tried these greens once. They were greasy and spicy, I didn’t like them but still wanted to try growing sweet potatoes. You’re recipe looks amazing and I can’t wait to try it! It’s great to know I don’t have to waste my leaves!😋🌱
Delicious! I love sweet potato leaves. I planted cuttings 2 weeks ago from a bundle of the veggie that I bought at the wet market. Getting bushier now, soon harvestable. I normally stir fry or cook as a watery soup or cook it in creamy coconut milk. When stir fry, I stir fry the leaves in pounded garlic-onion-chili-dried anchovies (or dried shrimp)-shrimp paste. These stuff coarsely pounded. As a watery soup, boil water till boiling, add salt, sugar, stock cubes (beef or chicken or fish), onion, garlic, chili and finally the veggie (I seperated leaves from stems and leaf stalks, add the stalk/stems first, then leaves). For coconut milk gravy, just add the coconut milk to the watery soup.
Omg that looks delish! I've had sweet potato shootz blanched with tomato onion patis & opai it is so delish my mouth is watering thanks for the awesome video👍🏼
Relatively new to your Channel but I'm LOVING IT!! Potato Leaves Are AWESOME. Think I may try your recipe. Thank you for always providing good content.

I want to thank you for this video. Yours was the first one that I came across a few years ago where I discovered that you can eat sweet potato leaves. This year I have a great many patches started and I'm going to trim back some vines tomorrow as some are creeping over their borders - and I came back to remind myself how to cook a big batch lol. I have the ones with the more ornamental leaves - they look so pretty.

Unfortunately, the whole plant is high in oxalic acid. Oxalic acid is cumulative and quite toxic. ☹️
Definitely need to try this!
Thank you for sharing! So excited to try this!😁
I recently just learned we can eat the greens of sweet potatoes and they are extremely healthy and beneficial for us! I'm so glad I found your channel and video on how to harvest and cook them! I plan to share this new knowledge on a LiVE Stream in a few minutes when I show our sweet potatoes growing in an aquaponic system on top of our 10 gallon fish aquarium! Thanks for sharing! ❤️

Thank you for enjoying sweet potatoe leaves. I love to eat it as well!!! 😘🤗🤗🤗🤗

Thank you! We eat these leaves in Liberia too. It's my first time having fresh ones at my disposal, but I had no idea how to harvest them
i ate mine first time tonight. it was sooo good! i wish i had know about this my whole life, the vines are so easy to grow huge amounts.
That looks very delicious!
Yummy looking... I also grew sweet potato when it germinated after I had left it uncooked. Put it in a huge pot and the vines grew wild. I made a delicious south Indian curry. I never knew till then that even the vines of this plant are just as great... Thanks for sharing your recipe
I am going to try this soon, since I am growing sweet potatoes in a little raised bed in the back yard.
Thanks for this. Timeless info.
uuuuuum!!! some is good! thanks for sharing👍
I just harvested my okinawan purple sweet potatoes and snapped off the leaves. Looking for a good recipe, I came across your video. Thank you so much! I might doctor it up a little more, but definitely will be adding the miso... best stuff in the world!
Just put 12 oz water in blender add some Frontier herbs tomato powder and throw in a couple of handfuls of moringa leaves pack with a carrot No nausea tastes meaty good protein boost I feel wonderful strong and ready !!! BTW Wendi is wonderful 🙂👍
Nice! I just ordered some miso for the first time, I've never had it before. I'm growing these sweet potato greens in my house LOL. Hoping to have something to eat harvested in my living room! 🤣
Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed this video Wendi
Great video! I did not know we can eat sweet potato leaves.. I need to try. Looks ymmy
I tried growing regular potato on Oahu, but they got blight and died. However, I didn't have any problems with Molokai sweet potatoes. Also, I bought some 11 inch fruit bags for my beef steak tomatoes and it worked. The fruit flies couldn't sting them, so I got a good harvest.

Love your video's thanks for sharing, I had no idea you could eat sweet potato leaves, to think I used to throw them in the compost......cheers
Looks so delicious! I do my potato leaves same as your recipe, but for the miso, I use anchovies paste, delicious. Try it. 😀
My wife and I started a pretty decent sized garden this year and one of things we planted was sweet potatoes. I've never heard about eating sweet potato leaves so this video is quite a find. I'm going to go out and right now and pick some leaves and cook them up tonight. We love eating collards and other greens like mustard greens so I hope it's a very similar. thank you.

@@pluckingtheinterwebs970 I think we must be towards the end of the season here in northeast Georgia because we haven't really had any new growth where we have the darker leaves available. Maybe we're getting close to where it's time to harvest the sweet potatoes. We just trimmed the ends of the vines where they were growing way outside the beds. Mas ybe this will spur new growth otherwise this might be something will have to wait and try for next year.
I love it steamed on top of rice for 6 minutes and dip it on any salty sour sauce.

Cool that’s how we stir fry our leaves too 👍👍👍

Thank you! You are so awesome! Your videos are so beautiful! Are these the leaves of the Stokes purple potato you are cooking? Thanks.
Love that cute sweater! I have two different sweet potato plants (leaves differ in shape). I think this is because I've started plants from random potatoes that sprouted in the pantry. Are they all edible, or only certain strains of sweet potatoes?
Looks good, thank you for sharing

I have been cooking leaves but will now look for the Miso ingredient, I am not vegan but really don't enjoy red meat so leafy vegetables are a good replacement adding citrus which from my research allows the iron etc to be absorbed into the body. In addition to not enjoying red meat, you can realize that it causes cancer and heart disease and is even insulinogenic, whereas greens reverse these issues.

Awesome video. I never knew this thank you for the information. Is all types of sweet potato leave good to eat?
Thank you for the wonderful recipe! I have a question, I am growing sweet potato leaves using a sprouted sweet potato from Costco (Nature's Pride). I noticed the leaves are a bit different than the ones presented in your video...do the evangaline variety also have edible leaves? I read somewhere that the seeds and possibly the stems could contain an LSD-like compound, but I can't find much information on which specific varieties are safe! :/ Thanks Again! :)
The leaves melt in your mouth. I love it. My australian grass keets love it too. I'd like to add that doing keto for 2 years I cannot eat spinach or carrots any more. They are too sweet and gross.
Thank u for this video. I had heard you could eat these leaves but it was only after I had already fed them to the chickens last year. This year, I want to cook and try them out. Question: have you ever frozen these and, if so, did you cook them first and then freeze them?
