what if i accidentally harvest the green seed pods? can i wait until they dry in doors? in Sweden is very cold now(6°C in day), and it's been raining for 2 weeks, so all the brown seeds are fall off from big rain drops or getting mold. so i figured only way to keep some seed is to harvest when they are green.

amigofrx I don't believe the green seeds are mature enough to sprout and grow but you could try. I'd look offer some brown seeds that haven't molded and just dry them in a dehydrator to prevent the mold.

amigofrx, in the future you could dig up a portion of the plant from the root and replant indoors if There has been too much rain outside.

I see only fresh flowers in your basket, but if I cut the ones that are a bit dried, before it turns to green seed, is that ok to harvest too, to dry for later use? I heard something about calendula being the poor man's saffron... comments

They would probably work but have less oils than the ones that just bloomed since the petals are on the way out. I usually just clip the green heads (if I'm not ready for seed yet) and let them fall to the ground. That way it continues to bloom. Once it starts to seed it will stop producing as many blooms. I"ve not heard of it being poor man's saffron but I'm going to have to test that out! Thank you for the tip!!
