    ‼️The conflict is an excuse for companies to raise prices. When examining grain supply chains, it’s evident that the effects of the conflict are mainly localized to that particular region and disruptions really shouldn’t be spreading elsewhere. Corrupt companies are price gouging for no reason. There’s a likelihood the elites behind these companies are pushing for the government to subsidize food production. If taxpayer dollars are diverted to food companies (the elites have a large stake in these), then the elites profit. This was done during covid (taxpayer dollars diverted to pharma companies), during the 2008 bailouts (taxpayer dollars diverted to finance companies), and during every major conflict (taxpayer dollars diverted to defense companies). Someone always profits, and it’s often the elites that pull the strings behind the scenes.

    I understood his view. Russia by it's authoritarian and mythical empire notion leadership has fomented division in many post USSR countries where there should be none if Russia had moved on from USSR mentality like the other break up countries did and got on with building their nations and over time getting rid of the huge corruption mentality they inherited. If Russia was out of the picture as a threat, all post USSR countries could get on with building their lives and economies, including Russia if liberal politics haf emerged there. Germany was once an enemy in Europe, there was no need for Russia to have become one the way it has. If there was a united Europe which Russia was a part of I believe that it would have and would make the whole world a safer place. What many westerners don't seem to realise is that most if not all Ukrainians speak Russian, it's not about the language.

The combined food production of the developed countries is capable of eradicating starvation worldwide, but that's not going to happen. Acts of "altruism/charity" from big corporations and powerful countries only happen when there is something to be gained.

    I wish someone would encourage people w space to grow "victory" gardens as in WWII to help ease the food shortage. Whatever we can supply for ourselves and neighbors would free up more food for those who cannot supply their own food. And I wish they would take this opportunity to encourage restoration agriculture. It doesnt require the outside inputs of fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides. Not only does it make farmers more independent, it is so much better for the environment and could mitigate so much of climate change because it pulls.carbon out of the air and stores it in the soil. AND it produces much healthier food. This would also be a good time to encourage people to eat less meat. So much of the corn and other food grown goes to feed livestock. Many calories are lost in that conversion process. And grain fed meat is generally bad for our health.

We're learning how to homecan, seed save, make compost, and preserve what we grow. Less than 2 years in our new home and we've completely transformed the backyard. We are beginner gardeners, growing and learning along the way. Recently I started a gardening channel to help encourage others to begin growing as well. No time better than now to learn self sufficiency.

    World War III Has Begun; How It Unfolds Depends on Us We think of the Russia-Ukraine war as a local conflict, but it is much more than that; it is a global war on multiple fronts. The war is not only a military conflict; it is also an economic war of attrition. With skyrocketing gas prices and shortage of staples, people all over the world are feeling the consequences of the war. This war is transforming the entire modus operandi of humanity. Since the dawn of time, we have been accustomed to living by the motto, “survival of the fittest.” By and large, the rule was that the strong determined the rules, and the rules were often abusive toward the weak. Now, it seems like a new mindset has set in: Wanting something and being strong enough to take it does not mean that the world will accept it. The war, therefore, is being fought on the inside no less, and perhaps more than on the outside. Our very makeup is changing from abusive to cooperative, from narcissistic to altruistic. It hurts, and it will not happen without a struggle, but it is irreversible. This is the path of our evolution toward the purpose of our creation-to encompass within us all of creation. To do that, we must come to care for it, just as a mother encompasses her child through her maternal love. The struggle to transition from our current uncaring and mean approach to all creations but ourselves, into wise and compassionate beings is called “the war of Gog and Magog” or Armageddon. Since the war is about our inner makeup, we can fight it within us. If we object to struggling with ourselves over who will rule-the ego or love-the physical reality will force us to choose love nonetheless. However, it will do so by hurting us in a very physical way. The war in Eastern Europe is nothing compared to what we might have to endure if we resist the process. The horrific descriptions of our sages and prophets hint at it, and we would not want to live through it. Alternatively, we can fight this war within us without firing a single bullet. The choice is in our hands. All we need is to continue in the same direction that nature is already leading us: toward connection. If we make an effort to care for one another, even though initially we don’t, then we are moving in the right direction. If we try to resolve conflicts not with guns or even legal battles, but by strengthening the care and friendship between us, then we are saving lives and sparing torments from countless people. In conclusion, let us try to rise above the hatred and see the human on the other side, who suffers too. Let us think that this war was given to us so we would think about each other more than we have so far. After all, were it not for this war, we would not notice one another. Now that it is here, we are no longer indifferent. Although our feelings our currently negative, now that we are aware of them, we can work on them together and turn them around. These are the wars of the Messiah who moshech [Hebrew: pulls] us out of the ego, and into mutual love.

    This is, in my understanding, the most pressing issue right now. The task of opening up the ports in Ukraine and saving millions of innocents worldwide from starving to death, is not only urgent but also extremely complex given the threads of nuclear retaliation presented by the Kremlin. While I agree that something must be done and done quickly, I also hope those in charge will have a much better idea of what to do than I have, because from where I'm seating it looks terribly difficult.

    This is a perfect time for us farmers to plant bumper crops to help make up the losses seen in Ukraine, its also key for us companies to produce aluminum cans and other products we have seen a short supply of becuse of this war. I think its more important to grow food and not corn to turn into alternative fuels. Every inch of crop producing lands need to be planted with grains ment for human and livestock use. And I think congress needs to get behind efforts to fix shortfalls for all industries making this effort. We can hult production on some other products and or starr new production lines, dust off older equipment and start it back up, give jobs to thoses able and willing to work. I think both houses and acrossed party lines can see this as Americans to gain more of the world share.

    @@TheLatiosnlatias02 Do you know how paranoid and ill-informed you sound?? I will not deny the USA has installed puppet governments, all superpowers do this, including Russia. Patrick Lancaster is well reported Russia supporter, I have watched many of his videos which mainly contain interviews with hard to verify individuals with no evidence. Where are all the bodies from the atrocities he claims have been committed by Ukraine? There are hundred of videos of dead civilians killed by Russia and several of them being shot by Russian soldiers - yet any Russian automatically claims they are fake videos! Russia has killed 10's of thousands of civilians, destroyed their homes, raped women - there is video and witness testimony to back these up. Russia's tactics are same in Ukraine as in Syria - destroy civilian cities in territories they cannot hold. Dead civilians mean nothing to Russia. Lastly, the USA has no interest in attacking Russia, if they did it would have been done by now. Most of what is bad in Russia has been done by Russia to itself. You can keep your cancer in your country, other countries don't want it in theirs. Go read some books or listen to the free press instead of your government controlled media, and you might know what you are talking about one day...

    A story about people having difficulty finding enough food would be a good place to mention that natural wealth belongs to all and that, when they take resources or emit pollution, industries should pay fees, with all proceeds shared to all the world's people. But we don't see systemic solutions mentioned in news reports. Why not?

  • @JohnChampagne

    @JohnChampagne

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@manlyadventures You mean, "Why increase the price?". There are costs that are not now represented in prices. If food production methods result in loss of soil, the cost of food today includes the loss of ability to grow food in years to come. Honest prices would show that cost (the cost of a degraded environment). We would see comparatively lower prices for food that was produced without (or with less) loss of soil, less pollution, less depletion of resources. If we charge fees to industries that pollute or deplete resources or destroy wildlife habitat, then share fee proceeds to all, only people whose habits involve more-than-average amounts of pollution or environmental degradation will see a net loss. Most people will benefit, because the natural wealth stipend will exceed the price increases. A more honest *price* will motivate farmers and other producers to reduce *costs* to the environment.

    World food production didn't fall 14% in 2020, before the invasion, because of the war, but rather because so many food growing areas are being impacted by environmental issues. Like California's food production falling 60% because of the record drought, and India losing all of this Spring's grain due to a record heatwave scorching their grain, making it useless.
