Not Middle East. Iran. You can’t talk about the Middle East like it’s one city. There are huge differences depending on where you are, Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon, dubai, Saudi Arabia, even within each country there are differences in conservatism depending on where you are. This is stupid. Name the place, don’t say Middle East. Same goes with Africa and Asia. You oblivious westerners. Edit: to clarify, same goes with “Africa” and “Asia”, i.e. the same point applies when people generalise African countries or Asian countries. Obvy I know some countries are considered as being in the Middle East as well as being in africa/asia duh Edit2: jeez guys I know where Morocco is and where other countries are. All I’m saying is these countries are together described as ME. And that no, you can’t say you can’t walk with a girl in the ME because in many places in the ME yes you absolutely can. I know it’s a troubled place with many fanatics but people and customs in the region are still diverse and it is quite acceptable in many places to walk with a girl who isn’t your wife or sister. Go to sleep you have exams/work tomorrow.

That's not what Benny was talking about, he said if a man hold a woman's hand, he's forced to marry her, force marriage in Islam is void in the first place. Let me tell you what actually happens when young/teenagers hold hands, they will probably get told to not hold hands I can see that happening, its a conservative country, but no marriage is forced on those who holds hands. I was in Basra, Iraq this March/April and some of my family i went with did travel to iran to see some family members, and loads of Iranians reside in Basra, actually Basra is very close to Iran and have the border with them, Iranian regime has strong influence in Basra and none of what Benny said is true. Its not a secular Liberal country. You can't kiss your girl in Dubai either, display of affection in those conservative countries is frowned upon.

Having Studied in very conservative areas of Palestine, Egypt and now living in Somalia and visited many other countries in the MENA region, unfortunately this is very very rare, especially nowadays. It's unlikely anyone would say anything and if they did, there wouldn't be legal consequences.
