My gut is thinking was he offered the part of Walter White? Its around that time 2006 - 2008 (Brotherhood). BB started 2008...guess we'll never know ;)

When Jason Isaacs talks about Sweet November and Harry Potter. I enjoyed hearing him talk about reading the Harry Potter books. I love Sweet November and Harry Potter films.

I particularly enjoyed when he talked about the guy who seemed terrible at "acting" angry and then finding out the guy wasn't acting at all but was in a real argument, and the two polar opposite reviews of the stage play, and coming to the realization that no matter what you do there will often be opposing opinions and it really doesn't mean anything, bad or good. Just be present, do your best work, and move on. I often struggle with this, and use perfectionism as an excuse to shield myself from committing to completing things (music, album releases in particular) and the potential of failure in others eyes and in my own mind. I put a lot of stuff on my KZread channel but I "get away with it" because I think, I did this quick and with relatively low effort so if people think it sucks well . . . sure, what did they (or I) expect? It's not like I'm saying it's my best effort! And then if I get 40 thumbs up and one thumbs down, instead of focusing mainly on those 40 "successes" I'll focus more on the single "failure" and wonder what that one person didn't like! 🙄😢

Perfect casting for Lucius Malfoy. And he was amazing as Captain Hook as well.

For me, Jason Isaacs's Hook is one of the all-time great film performances. He brought so much real pathos and complexity and humor to the role.

What an incredible man. Intelligent, articulate and so present in the conversation. One of the best shows yet. Mr Rosenbaum

It's a shame that he exhibited TDS towards the end. Otherwise great episode.

And Seeing Jason Isaacs here makes me sad again that We're not going to get a 3rd Season of The OA.

I've never seen the Harry Potter films but Jason is fantastic in Awake. Such a great show and his performance was so good. Shame it got cancelled after 1 season.

Rosey, how did you feel to hear Jason tell his version of you two being paired up to improvise??? That's such a huge compliment in my opinion!!!

I had the good fortune to be Jason's Stand-in the very recent past, and can without a doubt say that he is one the nicest and most easy going actors I have ever met. He had time for everyone, was a total professional on set, and just an absolute pleasure to work with.

Jason Issacs is a chameleon when it comes to playing different characters. He was great in The Patriot, Star Trek: Discovery season 1, The Green Zone to name a few. When it comes to animation he is brings a certain type of coolness, style with Red Son Superman, The Inquisitor in Star Wars Rebels, Sinestro in Green Lantern: Emerald Knights.

I will never forget the first time I saw Col. Tavington….I am thrilled that he is now in the Star Trek Universe. This was a great interview with a true master.

His comments about Acting are the best! As an actor I totally agree that the beauty and satisfaction is in the doing; being in the moment, the imagination and fun...any end product is an extra. He was so excellent as Lorca in Discovery! Love you, Rosey!

Finding a partner in life is one of the greatest challenges we face. As a Single person myself I have my hobbies and things I enjoy, work and run a business can be somewhat set in my ways too. But I feel and think that any relationship is worth compromise. I'd love to have someone join me in my hobbies, see what it's like and vice versa. As I would with them too. And maybe together find a hobby to both do and like, make it something. Any relationship is work and both have to be willing. Another great Episode Rosey and crew. Love it. Keep it up.

Such a nice guy met him at Star Trek Last Vegas 2018 and Star Trek The Cruise 2019 and he's an absolute gentleman and funny as hell

@@Boo-yp6pt it's considered the worst Star Trek of all time. It's only been renewed because they have a billion dollar contract with the JJabram-verse and they used it to launch their streaming

I have watched many interviews with Jason Isaacs, if not all of them, and everyone of them is like a wonderful MASTERCLASS. He's very generous about sharing his experiences in his career that makes me feel like I should be paying some sort of tuition for every word he utters that sounds like advice without feeling like you're being lectured.

I don’t know much about him but that’s never stopped me from listening before! I always get something out of your guests whether I’m a fan of theirs or not! I’m sure it’s great as usual! I’m going to watch now and find out! Love you Rosey! 😘💙

I did some sleuthing and Breaking Bad aired right around the time Brotherhood had it's last season. Solid chance that's the role he's talking about missing out on. Also, this interview was fantastic! I meant to watch half then finish the rest later but couldn't stop listening.

@@pipwill74 "The Mentalist" doesn't have shelves full of awards, nor is it acknowledged as one of the best shows of all time, which was how Jason described whatever the show was. So it's unlike to be "The Mentalist" (no shade on "The Mentalist").

Harry Potter: Chamber of Secrets and The Patriot are two of my favorites. Great podcast as usual, Michael.

Again an amazing chat. This was wonderful. Liked Mr Isaacs work for a long time but this chat and all the insight was a new level. Now that ST:Discovery is ending I reflected on my top reasons why I like the show. Jason Isaacs character and performance are up there for me. He wasn’t the lead character but he was the enigmatic captain and major villain, eventually. I was so devastated when the killed him off, both because we lost the Lorca character *and* Mr Isaacs presence. I would’ve loved to see Prime Lorca, too. Also: This show is amazing. Michael is amazing. Please never stop doing this format.

Holy shit I'm halfway through the podcast and this guy is just the perfect guest. Have a feeling you're just sitting there thinking "boy was I right about Jason" lol.

I loved this episode. It could have been much longer. One of my all time favourite films is Sweet November. Every time I see it I laugh and cry so hard as if it was the first time I’ve seen it. I loved both of your roles and especially the scenes with Charlize and Jason. I always wanted to have a friend like him. So cute. I despised his character in the Patriot which shows how awesome he played him. All in all a wonderful episode. Thanks for that!

This was a great interview; If you had him on the show again, I'd definitely look forward to it. I *love* Galaxy Quest! My Mom and I just watched Sweet November. So many shining performances. The OA is cancelled? Mind boggling. The way he described his favorite (rainy) days on the Harry Potter set is *exactly* what your show feels like; just listening and being part of a great conversation with Lovely people. Thank you, Michael. And, btw, I'd be very excited to see you on the Hot Ones.

Man his voice and his accent... Amazing... Love the way he talks... Thanks Rosey for talking to him...

Whenever around and before @44:11 when Jason talks about the value of doing “sh*t” roles along side good roles(those of personal preference), for the pay-- it makes me reflect on one thing: the same way farmers use manure and compost, along with minerals and water(among other nutrients for the soil and plants) to help nurture and cultivate crops, in hopes of a harvest, is in the same vein where we can both use the sh*t jobs as well as the better jobs to cultivate a successful life. It may not be a guarantee, but at least we put things more in our favor when we learn how to use the “sh*t” and seeds(potential/promise/hopes) that we get in life, to always give ourselves a better chance at claiming or rather “harvesting” a successful and satisfying life.

Sweet November was ahead of its time...one of my favorite movies, and the scenes with Rosenbaum and Isaacs were definitely some of the best. i would love to see the 20-min short of these two. that would be awesome!!

Rosey, you have such a cool and rich voice. You must get a lot of voice acting work alone!!! I'm a college professor and having a unique voice frequency and style is really a boon. Love your podcast and impressions. Please male my day and give me a like! Been a rough six months and your podcasts keep me upbeat on the rough days. If you ever play a college professor, if you haven't already, I think of it as performance art with content material thrown in between narrative. Keeps the students interested. I secretly wish I had gone into acting. Thank you for your podcasts.

Rosey! Awesome interview, awesome guest. Isaac is very humorous and the stories he shared were great. I really enjoyed what he said about the different opinions people have of your work. Exactly the same two I immediately pictured lol I had already heard of some other names for BB over the years that were looked at during development, such as John Cusack and Matthew Broderick, but Isaacs wasn't one. Possibly until now. Although the more I think about it, I'm more inclined to think it was Mad Men. just because, knowing Vince Gilligan's mindset, you know your basic arc is turning the friendly, everyday suburban man into a horrible villain, would you thus have your first idea to be to cast someone who's already primarily known for mostly playing bad guys. I don't know about that.

This man is adorable, I knew him from his films, not as a person, he is extraordinary, with so much work and maintains a stable relationship for so many years. nowadays that is not seen. is admirable, and his wife too

Michael, as your mother loved Brotherhood, she'll definitely love Case Histories tv series. It's a must see for every Jason Isaacs fan.

I’ve been a fan of Jason for many years but didn’t o ow anything about him as a person until I saw him at LFCC in London, 2019. He was so interesting and entertaining so I had been looking forward to this episode since I k ew it was coming and I wasn’t disappointed. What a great episode and what a great guy. I loved all the stories he told and the stories from Sweet November. So much fun!!

I loved this interview Jason seems so great, and would be fun to hang out with. Now after talking about him so much you need to get Keanu.

That time I didn't even recognize him as Lucius. Crazy. He seems like a nice man to talk to. I liked hearing about his role in the Patriot too. I need to watch that again now. Awesome interview to listen to.
