    I love Sub Par. So many insightful interviews. Guys is there anyway you can put something under the mircrophones or on your table to dampen the noise of your guests hitting the desk when talking. Way too many really interesting shows that the whomping of their hands hitting the table drowns out their stories. I know you cannot tie their hands behind their back 😉!!

    I have no idea whether you know what it takes either. We're all whatever we say we are on the Internet but we don't know each other. I don't have a problem with the top players having confidence. But the guy has missed 20 out of 30 cuts in 2022 (not including his missed haircut), which also comprises the only 3 KFT tournaments he played this season - we're not talking about a kid here so why is he missing 3 out of 3 cuts on the KFT? He hasn't won any tournament since July 2019 which was on the KFT tour. His other win on the LatinoAmerica Tour isn't even worth talking about as almost nobody saw it. So he doesn't know what it takes to play well over 4 days at the highest level either, it seems lol, as he's never won on the main tour. Jordan Spieth feels the pressure too but is the nicest/smartest guy. I read on Harry Higgs' profile on the PGA Tour that "If not a professional golfer, would like to run for political office, whether it be senator, governor or president". He'd make Joe Biden look like Ben Franklin, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln rolled into one, which I had thought was impossible.

    I'd be absolutely stunned if that happened, even if/when more top players join LIV and the majors stupidly ban them. Someone who for some reason decided to play 3 KFT events before the start of the new season (and it can't have been to keep his tour card as he missed the cut in all three!), and has missed the cut in 20 out of the 30 tournaments he's played this calendar year. I'd be looking at Taylor Montgomery as a player to look out for, not this guy who is almost 31 and has won nothing on the PGA Tour. He got too many ranking points for his two actual wins (6 on the LatinoAmerica Tour, which is almost as much as the Japan Open lol. And 14! with his umm legendary Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper win on the KFT in 2019. I like that drink, is there someone called Dr Pepper who actually presented it to him? That would be very symbolic of what the tournament is worth). That's his last victory. back in July 2019, and those points were ill-deserved seeing as most of the primary tours don't get that for a lot of their events.

    Yes, and banging on the table. Someone needs to give him a reality check and tell him he isn't actually that great. Much better players than him come across far more dignified. His unbelievable golf shots have yielded him one win on the LatinoAmerica tour where he played against umm nobody. And one win well over 3 years ago on the KFT, which wasn't exactly a stellar field either. Taylor Montgomery is a proper player to watch out for.

    HH is 116th in the World and made over 2M on the PGA tour in the last two years. He's in the 99.9th percentile in his field of choice. I'd recommend doing what ever it takes to stay there. To top it all off, by all accounts he seems like a great guy.

    @@patgeary1024 Yes, he seems nice enough although I wouldn't class him in the 99.9th percentile given that: 1) Not many players around the world can afford to be professional golfers. He's privileged in that sense that he could keep mooching off sponsors, friends, whoever was paying him to fail until he eventually succeeded. The LatinoAmerica Tour is hardly great. 2) Even if we count all of the 2820 golfers who have ranking points, he wouldn't be in that percentile. 3) The PGA Tour's events, while obviously better than the other tours, give an unfair advantage to anyone who plays on it because of the changes to the ranking system of late. They had more than enough points already. It worked fine as it was. As an example, the winner of this week's South African PGA got only slightly more points than those who finished tied 21st at Mayakoba (one may argue the SA PGA is weak but the "legendary" Ryan Armour, Matthias Schwab and Nick Hardy are among those players who finished T21 at Mayakoba). Recall also that players from South Africa have won quite a few majors so their tour can't be that bad considering they started there. It's almost impossible to make it high enough in the rankings to make the majors on another tour now. 4) Despite all these changes to favour US based players, he's currently ranked #250 in the world. So that's about the 91st percentile (well, 91.13) out of players with ranking points (and I'm being very generous as most of the players near the bottom of that list hardly get to play any tournaments - I would say there are far fewer players playing regularly on tours that give decent ranking points). Not bad but nothing to get overly pleased about given he's almost 31 years of age. In fact, he's probably among the weaker players in his peer group as not too many regular PGA Tour members are outside the top 200 in the world. If he had played in the CJ Cup and done okay (made the cut) then it would mean something, but this Mayakoba tournament simply doesn't mean much when everyone is shooting way under par. Yes it had some top names but a lot of junk too, and he has missed a lot of cuts lately (20 out of 30 in 2022, including all 3 of the KFT tournaments he played in! Why did he play in those?). He really isn't all that great and only gets to play in majors because he happens to be on the right tour, which happens to take place mostly in his own country. So his ranking is probably higher than it deserves to be.

  • @markgriffiths9377

    @markgriffiths9377

    Жыл бұрын

    @Bud Fox you'd think so. But 20 missed cuts in the 30 events he's played in 2022 would suggest he doesn't. 3 of those tournaments were on the KFT (why?) as well and he missed the cut in all three. It would be fine if he were 21 but he's almost 31 and still trying to make it as a PGA Tour player.
