Welcome to the Letterman KZread Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. The language may strike you as quaint & flowery, the clothing comically lacey & ornate - but that’s how things were back in this colorful and now bygone era.

“I poison stuff” was such quick wit. As was “It troubles me now!”
In case anyone is wondering, no Ford was not on an episode of Leave It to Beaver. He was never a child actor, and didn't begin acting in Hollywood until years later.

Harrison has such great dry sense of humor and that's what makes his interviews delightful.

The role on Leave it to Beaver was actually played by Buddy Joe Hooker, who went on to become one of the top stunt drivers in Hollywood. He did car stunts for (among others) White Line Fever, Hooper, all of the Lethal Weapon movies, Jade, Against All Odds, To Live and Die in LA, Gone in 60 Seconds (the remake), and Death Proof.
Even David Letterman is star struck by this American legend. Harrison is and always will be the man.

I noticed they advertised a real/good (also really good) "Indiana Jones" movie on this video. Hard to believe I was in 2nd grade when this aired and my dad took me to the midnight showing of that movie as it was the night before the last day of school. Great memories.
I'll always remember how Ford cowered under Calista Flockharts dress at the 2002 Academy Awards when Michael Moore was on the stage commenting about Bush.
The FIRST appearance Harrison Ford made on film was with Jim Morrison who refers to him as "Harry" (the stage-builder)...
Indiana Jones and the Beaver of Destiny!

Buddy Hart (now known as Buddy Joe Hooker) played Chester Anderson on 15 episodes of Leave it To Beaver.

That corroborates Internet research. A fun fact about Buddy Hart: As Bachelor #2, he won a date with Farrah Fawcett the one time she appeared on The Dating Game. Farrah was introduced as "an accomplished artist and sculptress, she hopes to open her own studio."
Now I can pic6 Calista & Harrison playing shoot'em'up on their horses out on the ranch.
Turns out he WAS in a documentary called "The Immortal Beaver."
Harrison Ford did not play Chester Anderson in Leave It To Beaver. That part was played by Buddy Joe Hooker. Buddy and Harrison are the same age & look a lot like each other.
Haha!! I don’t hunt!! I poison stuff!😂👍
Harrison and Dave are legends. The "Sabrina" remake is horrendous.

that made me curious to know who that kid was. I looked up the Leave it to Beaver episode. it said his name's Buddy Joe Hooker and was billed as Buddy Hart.
date says 95 why is the ad for last crusade which was 89?
I was wondering why I didn’t remember this airing and looking at the date, I just got my license and car.
"Don't send me a goat" sounds like he's taking the bit too seriously, but Dave did gift Conan an unwanted horse.
Ryan O'Neal was on Leave it to Beaver.
Harrison was in TV shows early on in his career, not Leave it to Beaver. I loved him since I was a young girl. I want to wish Harrison a very Happy Birthday today. Harrison, you're the best. Love You Always! ❤️
Harrison Ford ALSO is where Dave got his first car.
Harrison was also in Gunsmoke and Love American Style. Pretty green then. LOL
Awsome…wish I could tell him myself
God I miss this show. Dave and Johnny Carson were the best...nobody today comes close.
I’m happy to at least know Dave went through what we youngsters call a “Jimmy Fallon Laugh” phase.
I know exactly which kid everyone thinks was Ford. He definitely looked like he could've been a young Ford.
In 1958, Harrison Ford was just an AV nerd at Maine East High School!
Dunno about Leave It to Beaver, but he was on Gunsmoke.
It was Buddy Joe Hooker who played Chester
I think Dave's onto something about this Ford guy being cool.
The ears were all wrong ! The fist thing i saw him in was Apocalypse Now !
According to the IMDb his earliest roles both uncredited were a bellboy pager in the movie Dead Heat on a Merry Go Round 1966 and a "irate motorist" in the movie Luv in 1967. He then did episodes of Gunsmoke, The Virginian, The FBI and Love American Style among others.
The band started playing Van Halen's Finish What Ya Started at the end of this interview. I'd recognize that opening riff and drum beat anywhere.

Harrison Ford once retweeted a photo I'd taken of my Women and Children First vinyl hanging on my wall. I wonder if he likes Van Halen.
Kept reseating himself like he had to let one go.
We'll be right back with Bonnie Hunt.
Crazy that Letterman doesn’t mention “The Conversation” and “Apocalypse Now.” Something against Coppola here?

Why did Dave list off Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back but not Return of The Jedi? This was 1995, so it's not like RotJ hadn't come out yet.

Letterman, it's called "chomping at the bit", not "clamoring at the bit". It's an equestrian reference about a horse that's eager to run. Horses don't clamor and they certainly don't clamor at the bit. For the unaware like Letterman, the bit is the metal mouthpiece to which the reins attach. The reins are line strips of brain-tanned leather which aid guidance. No. There are no turn signals in a horse, David. You simply pull one rein. Tugging right ribbon of ribbon notifies the horse to turn right. Vice-versa for the left rein. I'd hate to only know city life. It must be sad.

Originally it was "champing at the bit."

lol. The "goat" concern from Harrison Ford is quite valid since Dave sent Conan O'Brien a horse.
If we have to have celebrity presidents, why can't it be guys like Harrison Ford. He pilots planes, he is a great carpenter and has the whole movie star thing going. He is way more presidential than that orange criminal.

Remakes don't replace anything. Alternate movies aren't replacements. Stop trying to control the world and pretending anyone was victimized or any wrong has been done.
That was a great Beaver episode. Beaver found out the water was going to be shut off, so he collected and sold water around the neighborhood. And you never that people would pay for water in a container.
I loved the remake if Sabrina it was a great cast
Seems like Ford doesn’t like talking about money and material well-being. May be he finds it rude, may be he’s old-fashioned like that.
more Hollywood's clowns
I have loved his characters in movies, but ugh. Just don't see any charm at all in his real life character.
Considering what nasty old Dave was up to, this one didn't age well.
Harrison Ford, class-A draft dodger supreme, you are in the same boat as Hanoi Jane Fonda.
