Harrison Ford on making the ordinary extraordinary
The 80-year-old isn't slowing down; in fact, he's been busier than ever, with two TV series (including the "Yellowstone" prequel "1923"), and a fifth Indiana Jones movie. Harrison Ford talks with Turner Classic Movies host Ben Mankiewicz about playing "ordinary" people; fame and the loss of anonymity; and the attraction of returning to his home in Wyoming.

“I like my job.” Simple, straightforward and succinct Harrison Ford encapsulated.

"It is not privacy. It is anonymity. I want to watch people. And they are watching me." Perfect.
I've always admired his down to earth nature
I have always loved Harrison Ford. He's a great actor and very handsome.
I'm so glad Harrison still loves his job. He is one of the best there is.
My husband works in Jackson and met Harrison Ford on his Job. He did not recognize him due to a long beard at the time. They ended up connecting over their old Benz. After the conversation my husband was told who it was. He was shocked and so grateful he had no idea who it was. He was able to have a real conversation with a real person. It was not tainted by his fame.

"Anonymity" probably part of the reason why he and other actors grow beards and look so different from how we normally see them on screen. Very cool story.
Harrison is a gem. So glad they sent Ben to interview him. Ben's passion for the movies is palpable. I miss Robert Osborne, but he has been a worthy successor, and not just because of his family connections.

He seems much more lively and sharp and happy in this interview than in previous years and other appearances. Where he often comes across uncomfortable, jaded or a bit lost in thought. Perhaps because it's at his ranch home. The environment suits him
I love HARRISON FORDS humility, seems actually genuine. Best be gracious at 80 and still healthy and working. What a blessing , fantastic.
I think what has kept Harrison grounded is that he was 35 when he got Star Wars. He wasn't young. He was older than the directors George Lucas, and Indy director Steven Spielberg. Plus he had already been a journeyman tradesman, so he knew what it was like to work a blue collar job.
80 years old, blimey time flies. Scary. But the legend has fit 100 peoples lives into those 80 years and his still going.
He should get the Kennedy center honors for his contributions to Motion Pictures and lifetime achievement in the culture of the world. He’s richly deserves it.

Harrison Ford is definitely a a legend
5 Star Wars movies, 5 Indiana Jones movies, 2 Jack Ryan movies, The Fugitive, Air Force One...the list goes on. Even in small dramas like Extraordinary Measures with Ford and Brendan Fraser, he is incredible.
Beautiful Soul. He's very consistent. I've watched Harrison's INSIDE THE ACTOR'S STUDIO, has the same outlook. I love his honest and clear communication. What you see is what you get. Love his work. Never disappoints.
Harrison Ford, class act.
1923 is an amazing series. Taylor Sheridan is a wonderful writer and Harrison Ford and Helen Mitren together are "perfect" together. (Sorry David) "Audacious and bold" story is a great description of the series. Thanks for this interview.

I know. He has multiple projects going on when clearly he could hang up his hat (literally) and take it easy. That is some hardcore work ethic.
I can't wait to see all of his new projects... not the least of which is the new Indy film. Raiders came out when I was 13... I was so blown away by it that I decided I wanted to work in film. When I turned 18 I headed to LA and went to film school... where my dorm was plastered with Raiders posters, and Han Solo and Blade Runner, too. I'm not impressed by famous and have met many (some jerks, some decent folk)... but I would love to meet Harrison Ford. I sent him a sketchbook of my drawings I made of his many characters for his birthday when I was 14 and got a reply from his assistant on his personalized stationery... 14 year old me was over the moon! He will always be a constant throughout my life. Thank you for this wonderful interview... he seemed so calm and laid back being at home on his ranch!
He looks fantastic ❤

"Telling stories." Damn right.
It makes sense why he doesn’t like the attention he got from being Han Solo and see why it was such a surprise to see him show up at Star Wars Celebration
The horse part showed but for all I know he's fluent in Spanish. He and Mirren really bring something special to an already exceptional show.
Harrison Ford is probably the last great movie star we have right now. One of the main reasons he has lasted so long is that he treats acting as a job. He never thinks of himself as a movie star. Guys like Robert Redford and Clint Eastwood think the same way. They never get caught up in the Hollywood hype that so many other stars like Charlie Sheen and company fall into. That’s why they have endured for so long. 5 great Ford Movies to watch are the First Star Wars film from 1977, Blade Runner, Indiana Jones and The last crusade, Clear and Present Danger and the Fugitive which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

Great actor
I was surprised by how moved I was by this interview. I'm of the age group that first saw Harrison Ford on the big screen in 1977 as Han Solo, and have been a huge fan ever since. Besides Han, Indy and Deckard are my favorites of his. I live in Los Angeles and have interacted with my share of celebs (by reaction only) and have shared space with Mr. Ford also. It seems like celebrities are in a predicament of wanting to be adored and being left alone. Anyway, I do appreciate this man and his work. Also, Han did shoot first and deserved a better ending!

Mr Ford best work is on 1923! Thank you for this part husband to Helen Mirren. The both of you are fantastic! The back drop of the West in the 1920's is something not seen much. But what has been lost is the devotion to ones family that your Duttons are showing. The love of family, the time[1920's] and the American experience is brought to life with such stunning colors ,Men and women with stories as big as the American frontier and the love stories.
Wonderful piece. Ford is my hero.

Wanna make Cooper really happy, Harrison? As a horse trainer, I know. Such a nice barn, but you overdid it with the flooring. You may like your wooden floor, but I can assure you that any horse who walks in there doesn't like it. You can even see that Cooper is almost tip toeing on the beautiful wooden floor. Harrison, take that floor out and use that wood on another project, but put a natural floor, dirt floor in. Just pull up the wood and rake the barn regularly. Or put some M10 down. If that gets dusty, spray it with water. And I only saw two saddles, but no other horses. Hopefully you have more than one. Just looking out for the horses. Btw, Cooper's gorgeous!

The odds of becoming famous are one in a million if you actively try to become famous. It's one in a billion if you don't try. So you have nothing to worry about.
Everyone continually talks about Star Wars, Indiana Jones and The Fugitive but they leave out, or always seem to forget, American Graffiti. American Graffiti was the Lucas film he acted in before being Han Solo in Star Wars: Episode IV, and AG also starred Ron Howard, Richard Dreyfuss, Cindy Williams, et al.
There’s a trade-off with everything, no-where and all at once.
